- Artist: Atolocus

Description:
Here is a figure sketch of my girlfriend. She likes to model for me, and enjoys having an artist as a boyfriend :)
Now I know anime/manga drawings are famous in the arena, so here is something to change things up. Please comment on how I am doing! I love comments and critiques - Date: 11/26/2012

- I used to ignore the face, but now I just have my own cartoon-y style, because long, detailed drawings are time consuming. They take a considerable amount of skill, but at what cost? Why spend so many hours on one drawing when you can pump out sketches in 15 min. fast drawings help with gestures. Ask your girlfriend to do 3 15 min poses, then work down to 5 10 min and then 10 5 min. I can introduce you a great gesture drawing book.

- Always put in a background element, otherwise your drawings will look like they're floating in space. It's important to keep your drawings grounded.

Nice Critique Donkey Butter! In the art forum, they pointed out the same mistakes, but not in such detail. I shall work on my line work smile
Also, she is leaning. I just didn't include the shadows, or any hint, of the wall she is leaning against - Report As Spam

You need to practice drawing the face and hair, and not rely heavily on lines. A line is just simplified shadow. When drawing realism you don't need to draw lines. Also, it looks like she's leaning.
Remember; when drawing the face do not use lines. Lines show age. - Report As Spam
