• Sunlight filtered through the blinds in a small quiet room; the smell of a freshly cooked breakfast wafted up through the open door. A woman around 40 years old walked into the room looking at the girl slumbering. She had been in a catatonic state for 11 years and had yet to awaken. The woman tended to her speaking gingerly as she bathed her. She worked hard to ensure that she was dressed properly before placing her in a wheel chair and escorting her to the dinning room. She carefully feed her as she breathed as though trapped in her own dream world. The woman wheeled her to the window as she went to knit in the other room. In several hours, the woman would come and take her to lunch before wheeling her around the park. She spoke as a small bird sang jubilantly. She knew that the chance of he daughter waking up where extremely slim. She then undressed the girl for bed. Even with the food, the girl was so thin that you could count the ribs individually on her chest. The door creaked shut as she put the girl to sleep. The cycle was to repeat in the morning until the girl eventually woke up to see the world around her and how it has changed.
