• Chapter 8

    "I am sorry, all right?" Cara said to Helen, as she put a bowl of cornflakes in front of Helen. Helen said nothing, simply stared at her breakfast and waited for Cara to pour on milk. Once Cara did, she picked up her spoon, shovelled cereal into her mouth and chewed as though Cara didn't exist. Shes only ten and already an expert at the cold shoulder. Nothing Cara said seemed to work on Helen. Helen has been silence for more than 15 hours now.

    "What did you do this time?" Adrianna asked her daughter.

    "Why you always assume I am at fault?" Cara pouted. "I told her that shes too big for imaginary friends, mom."

    "Which imaginary friends?" Adrianna continued to wash the dishes.

    "Sir Kip the Guardian Spirit." Cara biting her lips.

    Adrianna dropped the plate that she was holding and it broke in the sink. Her face turned white as she held onto the sink. Cara quickly held her mom and brought her to sit on the chair.

    "He's back...?" Cara gave her mom, a glass of water. Her mom drank it. "I thought we left him when we move."

    "No. He never left. He been protecting this family for a long time," Helen replied to Adrianna.

    "Mom? What do you mean you left him when we move?" Cara was so confuse now.

    Adrianna close her eyes. Her memories flashed back. She remembered when she first saw Sir Kip. It happen when Cara was having a high fever and was admitted to a hospital. Cara was six years old by then. Adrianna was crying for her daughter when he suddenly materialize in front of her eyes. He bend down and put his hand on Cara's forehead for some time. When Cara woke up and saw the person. She called him Sir Kip. Even though Cara was fully heal afterward, Adrianna was really scare of this ghost.

    Adrianna always thought Sir Kip was her daughter imaginary friend. She thought it was normal for kids for her age to have an imaginary friend too. Cara always talk to him. Scary stuffs kept happening to her daughter. She would suddenly cried when they moved in to a cheap motel and telling them there is a person that got stabbed when there is no one there. Later Adrianna would find out that there is a guy that got murdered in that room.

    Adrianna finally understood when she and her husband brought their child to a gypsy woman who worked as a fortune teller. The gypsy lady told her that her daughter has special powers. Since her daughter has this ability, she will be always in danger. She will be sought after by evil spirits who wants her power. That scare her. Thinking she would lost her daughter, she asked if there anyway else that she could avoid that from happening.

    The gypsy woman looked at her gypsy ball. Then she told Adrianna that only the Guardian Spirit could block Cara's ability. The gypsy woman told her that she shouldn't be afraid of her child gifts since God has chosen her. God won't give this power to anyone that he sees unfit. But Adrianna has made the decision that she won't endanger her child and she rather her be normal.

    That night, with her husband on her side, Adrianna plead for Sir Kip to take away her daughter power. Sir Kip materialize in front of her. He was in white armor and his face was hidden under a white helmet. He didnt say anything but standing there in front of them. Adrianna kept on crying and begging for Sir Kip to remove her daughter power. Her husband was too shocked to say anything but hugs her wife protectively.

    Sir Kip finally nodded. He turned around and walked to Cara and put his hand on Cara. A white glow from his hand surround her daughter body. After awhile, he disappeared into thin air. After that day, Cara never saw Sir Kip and finally forgot about him when she grew up. There was no more weird scratch on her daughter body. No more weird sighting. Her child was normal. She thought since her child became normal, Sir Kip would see there is no more point for him to stay around and left.

    Adrianna opened her eyes. She looked at her daughter now. Cara is 17th. Should she tell her about Sir Kip? About her abilities that she took away from her daughter....Adrianna decided that Cara must know her past. If Sir Kip has made his presence known. That's mean something bad going to happen and her daughter need to know. Where should she start though? She caress her daughter's hair.
