Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess. Her beauty was known far and wide. It was said that no one could marry her for she was far too beautiful. Yet this princess hated her beauty. She thought of it as a cruse. For even her best friends were jealous of her beauty. Many people thought of her as argent, even though she was kind and sweet. No one would believe that she was smart because they believed someone like her wouldn’t want to learn.
Her eighteenth birthday was fast approaching her. She had hoped to be married soon with someone that would love her. Instead she was told to marry a man who was very handsome. The only problem was that he cared more about his looks and what others thought of him. He didn’t truly love her. For that reason she was very sad. She had always wanted to fall in love with someone. Instead she was forced to marry some man that didn’t even care for her.
Now a few days before her eighteenth birthday she decided to go into the country that belonged to her kingdom. She use to do this when she was little. Her nanny would take her out. Before they went she would put her hair up in ponytail. She borrowed some of the clothes from her servant. Lastly she would spread dirt on her face to hide it. Once she was done she looked like one of the farmers daughters.
She went out the servants entrance. She was headed to her nanny’s house. She loved going there when she was little. She also hopes that her nanny could help her. It was her last hope. She walked along the old country road. No one paid much attention to her. She even got yelled at for being in someone’s way. Her only hope was that no one would notice that she was gone. She had said she was going to be in the library all day so no one would’ve bugged her.
Once she got to her nanny’s house, she knocked three times. That was their secret knock. Her nanny opened the door. She entered the warm house and felt at home at once. She smelled the homemade food and felt at ease. The truth was that she had often wished she wasn’t born a princess. She preferred the life of a villager more. She just couldn’t tell anyone that.
She talked with her nanny for a while. She told her about the marriage. They talked some more. Soon her nanny’s son came walking through the door. He worked as a black smith appetence. He had just finished his apprenticeship and was going to be finding his own work soon. The princess loved talking to him. He was smart and kind. He knew that she was a princess but never treated her that way.
She sat and talked to him for a while. Whenever she talked to him she felt herself blush. She believed that she was falling in love. He had often thought the same thing. They talked and talked until the sky grew dark. He then said he would take her to the castle since it wasn’t safe for her to be out alone this late.
They walked up to the castle. Once there the princess didn’t leave right away. She decided she should tell him the truth once and for all since she wouldn’t have the chance soon. She told him how she had a crush on him and wished him a happy life. She started to head towards the castle. When she started to go he grabbed her arm.
She turned around and looked at him. He then kissed her. At first she was shocked then kissed him back. A few minutes later he said that he had always liked her. When she looked at him she felt like crying. A few tears actually did escape. She couldn’t believe that she found a man that she loved and loved her back. He had never really seen her in her true beauty. Therefore he loved her when she looked like a farmer’s daughter. She just couldn’t believe the good luck. The only problem was that she was to be married soon to someone else.
When she told him, he looked liked someone had punched him in the stomach. He told her that they could run away. Her nanny would come with her. She thought it was a wonderful idea but they would send a search party out for her and kill him if they found him with her.
As they were talking one of her ladies in waiting came up. She looked like the princess and would sometimes take her place if the princess went out. She looked at the princess and told her that she was out trying to find her before anyone noticed she was gone. She was always helping the princess sneak out. It was also a known fact that she loved the prince to who she was to be married. That is when the princess got an idea.
She told the black smith and the ladies in waiting about her idea. The lady in waiting would take her place forever. No one would d notice. The girl was happy at the idea. She wanted nothing more than to be a princess and then maybe a queen. With the lady as the princess, the true princess could run away with the black smith. She would just have to make sure to dress the way she did when she snuck out.
It was decided that they would use that plan. The next day they put their plan together. The princess dressed as a farmer’s daughter. She gave all her good clothes and jewelry to the lady in waiting. Then she went out the servant’s door to where her nanny and the black smith was waiting. They went off into the distance. The lady in waiting became the princess. No one seemed to notice the difference. Both of them lived happily ever after.
