I've seen so many people fall for the fake antivirus thing...XD Yeah it basically gets you to download the virus XD

But it said I had to pay for it and my trial has expired er some j**z like that..
It was like..a yellow, black, white striped shield down in my toolbar and everytime I right clicked it to get some info or at least delete it, it would open up the main "Scanning" screen.><

OHWELL! It's done. In the past. Dead. No more.

Say Muffin, what version of Windows do you have on that PC? And what antivirus tool are you using now since all that trouble you just had?

And yeah...though soem are stupid. It was January 2009, and someone in Slough + Eton got a massive virus that screwed up her comp entirely...it was a fake antivirus called "Antivirus and Scanner 2010"...How could someone even fall for that?

Yeah that'd be Vista if it has the circle logo instead of a normal start button, unless you upgraded to Win 7.. But I'm assuming not. You don't even wanna know my opinion on Vista, but I'll merely say worst release EVER! xp

I've half-fixed my netbook now, so I can get on my Win XP partition now. I have Microsoft Security Essencials installed on that for antivirus, it's quite a lot better than AVG. On my Win 7 partition which I can't currently access I have Panda for netbooks installed.

Microsoft Security Esscentials is free, and Panda cost me about £8. I also have Malware Bytes installed, which has to be told to scan manually, it's also free.. Very good tools they are though.

Blah, that didn't make much sense..I'm not the computer savvy one in my family..I mean I'm good..but not good ebough to..fix things..or understand thatxDD
Well..being a laptop, does that change anything? It was a gift..so I didn't exactly pick it out...And AVG is pretty good..only a few times will it mess up..which has only been once?xP I don't know..but like I said earlier, my dad is a pro with computers..

AVG's still pretty bad...Malware Bytes is really good but as Benny said you need to tell it to scan..Basically the suggestions Benny said are good...the free ZoneAlarm version is pretty good, but Benny thinks hackers may be wising up to it..

Blah, do people really not have a life that they must make viruses and screw with people computers?

ALSO when I was little I used to think when you had a virus you'd see it like inch across the screen like a worm and you'd have to catch it with your mouse and drag it into the recyle bin. And the tougher the virsu the faster it would move around.xD

Yep really, they screw up other peoples computers/hack companies and then brag about it to their 'friends' on hacking forums/IRC chat channels. It's ridiculously sad. xp
