Age: 19 Gender: Female Orientation: Straight Why Am I An Ally?: During my freshman year of college, Maryland tried to pass something that allowed for same-sex marriage. The bill wasn't passed and my friend was pretty upset about it. This made me want to "be the change" so my friends will be able to marry the person they love. A Little Extra About Myself: I belly dance (my style is American Cabaret) and I'm a musician. I can play the clarinet, bass clarinet, bass guitar, piano, and balalaika. I want to learn to play the saxophone (my cousin's giving me his old alto sax once he gets a new one), the cello, the pan flutes, the harp, and the ocarina (not because of LoZ: Ocarina of Time). I've also been told that I have the gift of public speaking, and I love roller coasters. Ooh neat, I am a belly dancer too! I am ATS (American Tribal Style) and Tribal Fusion. smile It's really fun. Playing instruments is really fun as well. Nice that you want to support your friends. I agree, we all should be able to marry who we love. 3nodding Do you play any instruments? If so, what instruments do you play?
I used to play the piano/keyboard and I also played the flute, alto sax and electric guitar. |

Reason I'm here: Soooo, all my life I've felt attracted to girls and guys, I just never had the guts to admit this to myself. Recently I came out. Its been an interesting experience. I haven't had any hate directed towards me personally, for which I'm very thankful. (I only told people I knew who were open/accepting of everyone)
*takes deep breath* sooo, I'm, bi. Yeah, that felt good :3
Oh! and my mother is married to a women, my 2 of my grandmothers are lesbians. Uhh, most of my Aunts are Lesbians. (my family has a lot of estrogen, haha) so my family is rather accepting to say the least.

Hi there,
I'm DA for the most part name wise, most people call me Angel from an old screenname. I would say with my online Gaia life I've been around for a long time, and I mostly stick with guilds. I'm a bit older than a lot of Gaians now (25), so I don't hang around like I did back in the day. I do try to check in every other day though. I mostly float about the Art shops or requests since I'm a huge art whore. I'm also lurking the Writers forum to attempt to locate a writing partner for the summer. =3
I will say that far as LGBT communities I've yet to find one I like in particular on Gaia. I've tried a few over the years, but none to seem work well for me. I'm a part of Shoe (lovely lesbian site, not promoting just saying) and I enjoy my time there. I did decide I wanted to attempt to find a place on Gaia here again to hang out.
Hmmm far as personal information goes I'm a recent college graduate with a degree in Secondary English Language Arts. I finished up my first year teaching 9th grade English a few weeks ago. I had to move for my current job and sadly the location is not one I'm overly happy with, but that's a different story. I've decided to spend my time during the summer (while not at job interviews or taking professional development...yep that's right teachers do not have breaks all summer. We have to go to training classes!) indulging in my hobbies. I hand sew (learning to use a machine), create hand crafts, read like a crazy person (usually five books at a time), skate (trying out for roller derby this fall) and belly dance (I used to take lessons for a long time before I moved. Now it just consists of me practicing on my own blah). Probably will commit to getting a few more tattoos (I'm a tattoo freak for sure).Lastly I've dedicated myself to writing all summer to finish my novel. I feel inspired, and I have several other English teachers rooting me on. They also seem very keen on editing my work which could be fun.
Oh the real personal stuff! I'm a lesbian, have been all my life. I live in the deep southern U.S. (saving to get away) where the bible belt is supreme. I live with my partner (4 years +) and our little dog babies. I think we would describe ourselves as the weird couple. We attend pride events...and zombie walks! Love us some zombies, but we're not overbearing or the type that stand out on street corners with signs. I think despite the negative aspects of being in the bible belt it's managed to teach me tolerance personally. I've met a lot of interesting people so far in my years here, and even made friends with people having completely opposite views. I try to display the tolerance and understanding I want others to have. Anyway nice to meet you guys.

If you are wondering who we are, then I'll let (bleep) explain.
Thank you Alana. I can be called Alana but I am a guy on here. So call me Al if you want some form of an alias. Now I am 18 and I am a high school kid. I am bi on here and I lean with the girls more. Irl, I am straight as a pencil. The reason I am a guy occupying a girl avatar is because that for some time I have had lesbian hentai ideas in my head that I knew would please my friends and I needed to make more so I can share them. So I created a character named Alana and she is the opposite gender and some other opposites of me. After that, people started judging my looks more and got to know me and the mission was a success. So I am asked if I am ever gonna return to my guy form, but I will have to think about it if people will either still like me or hate me. Now back to the topic. It was the idea of sexy lesbians first, but then it got serious. I see people hating on others and even saw where parents discovered their kids being bi or gay and they disown them. One kid was even murdered by his classmate cuz he was openly gay. This kid was an elementary school student. And most people said that "he had it coming." I don't like that. So while I am in a rock band where my music changes others lives and I also am a well developed actor that will do any form of role to be a role model, I will also create the character Alana, who is known to be good to not just girls, but to guys and gays and straights and bis. She's more like a symbol I made. I should make a flag for her. Now if you have any questions, friend me and let's know each other like all human beings should. Orientation: For all intents and purposes, straight. I like to look at girls, but 99% of the time, I'm not attracted enough to want to do anything more.
I was raised by people who were homophobic to some degree. Still are, I suppose (especially my dad). My dad would rail against gay clergy and make nasty remarks every time a gay person came on tv. He doesn't do much of that now because he knows I won't spend time around him if he does. Mom was actively vocal against "practicing" gay clergymen and made a big deal about "love the sinner but hate the sin." She at least supports gay secular marriage, though. Anyhow, in high school I was picked up by a really socially conservative religious group that gave me the push to go from the mild homophobia instilled by my parents to full-on opponent of gay rights/memorizing all Bible verses that could be construed as anti-gay/etc. GW Bush was up for reelection when I had just turned 18, along with a state amendment intended to completely ban gay marriage. You can guess how I voted.
Since then, I've grown away from my previous religious beliefs, most strongly from those that were rooted in bigotry. I realized that I had never been entirely comfortable with being anti-gay, and I had buried myself in related dogma in an attempt to persuade my "sinful" mind from straying from the "right" idea and whatnot. I wish I had been brave enough to listen to my heart instead of buying into what those bigots were saying, and I've been trying desperately to make up for my horrible votes that year by being an ally and supporting those who are trying to get those godawful marriage amendments ruled unconstitutional once and for all.

Hey, Drew here. I'm 22, in the military. Yup yup, I'm a sailor. And currently in a great relationship with a fantastic man. So, yup. GAY!! Most never believe I am gay, not that I am ashamed of being homosexual, but I just don't send the waves out I guess....
