I originally felt the same, not wanting to lose the feel of an actual book in my hand. But I started reading manga online because it wasn't published in English yet and then I gradually moved to Manga Novels. After all that, I could see myself reading e-books, but only if I had an e-reader to carry with me at all times. That would definitely be a lot easier than carrying some of my 600 page books around because they don't fit in any of my bags. crying I still like regular books, but I wouldn't mind getting an e-reader and getting some e-books. Besides, there are some rare books that are hard to find at libraries and too expensive to order that are more readily available in digital form. Besides, most of the books I want to read I'd rather have a copy of so I can read over and over and my parents are already complaining about my overflowing book collection. sweatdrop

I read manga online, but that's about it. I find reading of a computer screen to be uncomfortable. You just can't curl up on the settee with a laptop like you can with a book.

But you *can* curl up with a Kindle. 3nodding

I have some of those older books like Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, etc. on my iTouch. The screen isn't as small, so it doesn't hurt my eyes as much, and I can read at night without disturbing my parents (they can't sleep when my light's on...they worry, I guess, that I'm having trouble sleeping or something) because of the backlight. And it is easier and a lot lighter for travel if you have a Kindle or iTouch with eBooks on them. I remember going on vacation while I was reading the 5th HP book, and, as a lot of you know, that book is really big, and it barely fit in my bag with everything else that was in it. A Kindle or iTouch is a lot more compact and definitely easier to travel with.

Although I have to admit, staring at a computer screen for hours does hurt my eyes and give me a headache. I downloaded some books for free from manybooks.net and they're saved as PDF files on my computer, but to read them, I have to make sure that I take periodic breaks so I don't get a headache. That gets annoying. But I do like the fact that they save space, paper, and light (seeing as you only need the backlight, not a whole lamp).

I do think, though, with all the technology that's coming out now, probably our grandkids will all be reading on the computer. I think I can pretty much guarantee that. But at least we'll be little old men and women that can only read fairy tales to our thousands of grandkids smile .

I don't think they sell Kindle's in Europe...

I get headaches staring at a screen for a long time, so I've never read more than 30 or 50 e-book pages at a time. I love paging through real books and taking a stackful home from the library.

I find that holding an old worn out book inside a nice mink blanket besides a fire is one of the most wonderful experiences in the world. A computer or iPod is so unfeeling, and cold.

Books are my love and personally I love to have them in my hand so I can hold them and know their legit. I read manga online but that's because I'm a poor otaku.

I love the feel of a book, the smell and texture of it's pages. But, although I prefer books, I sometimes find myself reading e-books on my laptop. Still, it's not same. I can't curl up in bed or the sofa with my laptop without feeling slightly uncomfortable.

I have to say that I've heard many different arguments both for and against things like the kindel.

I was getting a pedicure the other day and the lady in the message chair next to mine was reading from a kindel. She said she bought it because she is a buisness woman who loves to read and that it travels on airplanes better. She can carry hundreds of books on it at once. She can't carry that many in her travel on bag.

They also look just like those pads people read books off of from STtNg (Star Trek the Next Generation) which is kinda cool.

However I read an article recently that Amazon recently released some I books that it was not yet licenced to release and actually sold some of them. when they realized their mistake they were able to electronically remove them from their customers devices without their customers consent.

Now they did end up refunding the customers but people were pissed and felt like their books had been stolen from them. I see too many censorship opportunities with electronic books. I'm all for real hardback books.

I love e-books. I bought an iPod touch recently and its loaded with e-books. I have a huge collection, however I still have a place in my heart for the printed word. There is nothing like that euphoric smell of a well used paperback.

I've read short books on the computer (stuff like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), and I had to invert the colors so it was white on black instead of black on white. I still probably wouldn't be able to stand it long enough to read a regular sized book online. I'm not all that interested in a Kindle, either. The only time I can imagine using one would be if the book I was reading was reeeeeeeeally big and heavy, and I didn't want to have to carry it around. XP

ebooks cannot compare to holding a book in your hand, smelling the pages, feeling the weight of it.

Doesn't matter to me!!! I am good with both. Paperback has its own charm and ebooks has their own!! ebooks are convenient and there are different electronics that can store too many of the favorites!! I like to read either if i am home!! since i can stare long hours at the computer screen its no problem for me!!
