Hello, I am Kate.

I may lok like a regualar Gothic 16-year-old... but I am actually bisexual living with a family of homophobics. My parents (Mother & Step-Father) found out because of my sisters blackmail on me just because. My Mother says there is no such thing as a bisexual... I say she doesnt know the half of it. And on top of that, I have a grandmother who is Roman Catholic and hates all men -- "they're all SCUM!" -- yet, lesbians "Cant' get any men so they resort to their own sex."

My nickname with my stepfather is "the Lesbian." It doesnt feel that great, more like "my step-daughters for sale."

I have a best friend, and when her parents somehow found out I was bi, they wouldnt let her sleep over. She is my best friend, not my lover.

I have a girlfriend -- well, somewhat of a girlfriend -- and my parents call her a lesbian, also. They dont ever want her to come over because she might try to "rape" my sisters... she'd NEVER do that! And besides, my youngest sister loves her. heart Which is great. 4laugh

I really hope that you get out of that house and away from that ignorant family soon. Then again, where could you go at 16? It is really good that you have built a family of friends. These are the people that will get you through the tough times.

Kids are so understanding and sweet; I think that is why your little sister loves you girlfriend so much. Keep them close; they will be your light.

Eventually, we will rid our communities of homophobia and other such prejudices. Until then, stay positive and keep your true family (your friends) close.
