Question for anyone who breastfed or might know this :: Is it bad to drink alcohol while breastfeeding?

I kinda want to know since I saw that thread that mentioned eggnog and since we do it the `grown up` way by putting alcohol in it.

Hmmm... how do I put this?

Well if you're a smoker, one of the labels red for girls that smoking increeses a chance that you'll lose a baby before it was born or other side effects... so that means it also applies with alcohol, wich also effects the unborn baby.

So if you're er... whatever that is, here's rundown.

Alcohol first goes into the stomech, and then the stomech absorbs some and sends them into the blood streams, it's like a river. Your... whatever carries no just milk, but also blood, it doesn't mean it's pure milk, but with some blood.

Ask your doctor before you do anything.

Like everyone already mentioned, you shouldn't drink if your breast feeding because the contents do carry over to the baby. Now I'm not saying the baby is going to feel what you might if you drink but it's not the smartest thing to do, but if your having just one cup of eggnog I really don't see the harm in it.

Then again I didn't breast feed so I didn't have to worry about those sorts of things.

Just don't be to parinoid, do what you want just don't go over board. Trial and error is part of being a parent.

Ahh, poo. I think I knew that from somewhere, I was just in denial. I wanted me some New Years drinks.
Meh, I`ll just a bit of wine.
I`ve heard somewhere that during the third trimester it`s okay to have a little bit of wine every now and then. I`ll just carry that knowledge over.
But only a little. >.>
