"No, I do." Maria replied, stepping into the elevator behind him. "I'm just surprised that you want to be my boyfriend, that's all." She wondered why North was making small talk about the weather, until she saw him gesture to the camera. That was irritating. She didn't like being on camera when she didn't want to be. She considered smashing it just for fun, but that would be too suspicious. "We could go see a movie." She suggested. It would be a normal thing for people their age to do on a day off.

North feigned hurt at Maria's admittance. Of course he wanted to be her boyfriend. Why wouldn't he want to be the boyfriend to the most oblivious airhead in the suburbs of Cleveland? She had looks and people gunning after her. What wasn't appealing about that? In the end, he really did like her. "I've liked you from the start, so I can't say I never wanted to date you. So, we're girlfriend and boyfriend now. Lovely, just lovely." Kissing her cheek, he intended to keep it all normal and auspiciousness. "A movie?" Straightening his back, North leaned against the elevator wall and thought for a moment. "Sure, but what kind of movie? I mean, they don't have any good horror movies, and I don't particularly feel like watching a chick flick, no offense." He spoke and sounded like a normal young adult: stupid and completely human. "But, sh*t, I saw the trailer to Smiley the other day. Sh*t looks scary. Want to watch? Or f*ck, we can watch Seven Psychopaths. I think it's a comedy." Scratching the back of his head like a confused human man, North kept up the act. He hoped Maria would keep up her end until they reached the parking lot and left the security cameras. Once they were out of the cameras' hearing range, they would continue their usual chatter in the truck, and they'd dumb down their conversation to a normal, human kind once they got to the store.

Maria smiled. "Huh, I guess we are." She replied just before he kissed her cheek, and she reached for his hand that wasn't holding the suitcase. Very girlfriend like. "None taken." Maria replied. "Believe it or not, I actually hate chick flicks. So predictable, and all the girls are stupid." She'd never been able to stand them since she was little. "Either's fine." She began. Then to make herself seem more human, and not like a trained shapeshifting bodyguard, she added, "but if it's a scary movie, I'm going to be cowering the whole time." She tried not to laugh at that.

"Well," North squeezed her hand, glancing at the numbers above the elevator door as they went down. 9...8...7...6... and on it went. "That's why you have me to cower against. I'll keep you safe, babe." Watching the floor reach 1, North grin and said, "Plus, no stupid demon or whatever will get passed me. No sir, no how. Sh*t will get real if they tried to touch you." Acting like an idiot was hard work. How did humans manage to be so stupid? He almost wished he could break the security cameras so he wouldn't have to act dumb. He felt like he was losing brain cells with every word he said.

Maria tried to pass off her hysterical laughter as girly laughter. "Perfect." She replied, a slight purr in her voice. "Oh, you're so strong, I'm not worried." Maria replied. Talking like she was such a weakling almost made her feel sick. Still it was funny to hear North talking like he was. The doors opened and she stepped out of the elevator. once they were safely in her truck, they could go back to being themselves again. She tried to prevent herself from running to the truck. Stupid camera. She walked slowly, out the apartment doors, and then grabbed the car keys from her pocket. She got into the parking lot, opened the truck doors, and hopped into the driver's seat.

North forced himself not to roll his eyes at his new idiot girlfriend. If they were ever playing poker, he was sure she would be the first to lose. Following her out of the elevator and the lobby doors, North opened the passenger's side door and slipped into the truck's seat. Lying back and buckling his seat-belt, the vampire's blue-gray eyes watched the shapeshifter for several moments before finally saying, 'You're a horrible actress, I hope you know that." He was tempted to add, "Don't ever play poker with me," but he wasn't ready for a slap in the face, or rather a punch in Maria's case. "So, off to Walmart or Drug Mart we go, right?" Drug Mart was cheaper, but Walmart had more items. They only would need the basic supplies, so he figured whichever was closer and had an ATM machine would do.

"Sorry." Maria replied back, starting the truck up. "Dad trained me in fighting and protecting. Not acting." She pushed the petal down, and the truck took off. "Walmart." She decided. If they were going to stop, she only wanted to stop once, and Walmart had almost everything. Plus she knew where one was near by. She glared at the cars in front of her, as they crawled even slower then the speed limit. She liked freeways and highways much better. No stop lights, faster speeds. She sighed as they were stopped at a red light. She calmed herself my imagining rear-ending the car in front of her.

North believed what Maria said. He just thought her father was stupid. "Acting aides in protecting," he said as the stores blurred passed them as they traveled down Loraine, "I've had successful missions when acting has kept my charges safe from harm." People never suspected him as a body guard, or an assassin, so that made it easy for him to to catch them off-guard when they tried to kill his charge because they were not prepared for his strength and intelligence. Wearing the mask of deceit and lies in the broad daylight of both day and Night society, North never was caught off-guard, and he never let his missions become failures. "Walmart, it's been turned into a wonderful Super Walmart. Let's hope you don't get lost," he smirked, leaving what he previously said in the air, "but I'm sure you will anyways."

Maria frowned as North brought up protecting charges, but she tried to pass it off as still frowning at the traffic. "I'll try not to." She said dryly, and then pushed the vehicle into motion again once the light turned green.

[Enter North from Walmart and other stores.]

Gripping the truck's door, North literally jumped out of the truck as soon as it came to a complete stop and shut the door behind him before he rushed inside building, yelling to Maria behind him, "We'll get our stuff, and then we can go camping!" Despite the situation, he needed to continue to act like a normal human college student, which included harassing his girlfriend with stupid bets and games, or going on stupid "camping trips" with an unwilling female companion. It also gave him a cover for running into the building and rushing to her apartment. When he reached her apartment, he began pacing the hallway as he waited for Maria to catch up with him. Ordinarily, he'd pick the lock and get going, but cats were territorial last time he checked. Also, it would look more than a little suspicious once word gets out that he was at the shooting at Walmart.

[enter Maria.]

Maria hopped out of the vehicle just as quickly as North. Trying to act the part off annoyed girlfriend she shouted after him, "you know I hate camping, it's all dirty and cold!" When if reality she loved camping, and would rather be cold and dirty then dead any time. She rushed up to her door and unlocked the door quickly, throwing it open. She ran to her room, where she's already packed her bag earlier, and grabbed it in her arm. "Do we need anything else?" She just wanted to get out of here, as soon as possible. She liked her skin, and fur, on her body.

Scooping up his backpack with the fox skin and other useable shapeshifter body parts, North shook his head in response to Maria's question. "No, nothing, but my bag. Now, we're out of here. Lock the door behind you." North slipped the backpack onto his shoulders and was out the door before he was finished speaking. He kept everyone near them under his mind control so they would not see him, nor would they say anything suspicious about him or Maria. He pressed the elevator button for down and held the door open for Maria so they could head out and stay hidden. He knew a good place where they would hide for a while, but they couldn't go quite yet. They would be sleeping in Maria's truck for the next night or so.

"Okay, let's go." Maria followed North into the hallway, glad that vampires could manipulate human's minds, as she guessed he was doing. She nodded to him for holding the door, and then stepped into the elevator. The elevator moved agonizingly slow, and she had to force herself to stay calm, as the doors finally opened. She threw her suitcase in the back seat of her trunk, and hopped into the driver's seat. "Where to?" She asked, sticking the key into the ignition, and turning to the seat where North would be sitting.

North hopped into the truck after Maria, his nerves on end after being in the slow elevator for so long. If only they had an accelerate button on them. He kept his backpack at his feet as he buckled himself up and kept a lookout for any enemies. He didn't bother with the radio because he knew what would be on the news by now. "Just drive. I'll tell you where to go." Checking his cell phone, he saw several missed calls and text messages from Poppy. I'm sorry, Pops. I'm really sorry. I'm so sorry. Turning off his phone, he took out the battery and the GPS in it before stuffing them both into his backpack. A heavy weight rested in his chest as he thought about his sister and mother, and as he thought about the new baby that would be born within a few months. Is this what it means to live the life of a Parker? he thought agonizingly.

"Alright." Once again Maria pressed down hard on the gas pedal, and the truck lurched forward out of the parking lot, and onto the road.
