Flames Fuel Azure Shell So I have recently went back to play the original 4 games as well as 3 GUs... (Yes I know there is a 4th but I don't really want to count it since I don't have ps4) And there is now a question on my mind that wasn't when I was a kid playing these... IS dot hack, the franchise itself, vegetarian? I mean think about it, we never see any of the characters eating meat. (except mistral saying she eats beef stew or gardenia's love for eel in the emails) And the only "food" based items in the games that I have seen are fruit and vegetables. The drinks (potions and others) could actually be a mix of plant based protein shakes. Y'know, I never thought about that possibility but now that you bring it up, it seems like it could've been. I mean, there are some violent moments throughout the various games, so they can't really say "oh it's a kid game so we just can't show that stuff." They might've just been so focused on stories but even then, with so many different ones and characters?
I agree, with so many characters and storylines you would think they might have added at least one meat-based item or characters that include more of what their offline diet is like, say something like [Chinese orange chicken] but we don't get that. The only item semi based on that is Chinese Food, which doesn't imply it's ever made of meat either as there is such a thing as Tofu kung pow. The Chinese food item is also not an edible item, just a trade item. In .hack//sign episode 28 it is shown the characters at a tavern like place awaiting helba and the party. The foods on the table are fried rice, dumplings, bread slices, salad, and beer (or at least that's what is implied) but as for the food that is shown I do not believe there is meat in those dishes. Dumplings that are chicken or pork usually have a dipping sauce added to the side where as with veggie dumplings they usually don't. This is because veggie dumplings don't really need the sauce.
