Q'is was admiring their own beautiful reflection and making lots of noise giving themself compliments. Shamam overheard the ruckus and went to investigate, wondering who was interfering with the great Shamam's skillful hunting. They bonded over being both beautiful and glorious, one thing led to another. Q'is would best be described as a "pageant mom"; they would absolutely hold up their babies as the standard of beauty. And even though Q'is is very much a narcissist, they are surprisingly willing to share the limelight and encourage the same dizzying level of confidence in others.
She couldn't have known at the time how this would change her destiny.
What started as a kind gesture soon evolved beyond that, to lessons on literacy, little dates, longer dates. They were moving beyond someone who reached out and someone who accepted help, and they were falling for each other deeply. Soon they came to recognize - that moment, that time she could have chosen to ignore him but felt compelled to do otherwise... that their meeting had clearly been by the Guardians' will. They had been blessed with such love for a reason. To spread it with their own families, and to grow them. So they made the arrangements, and with little issue they conceived.
Their life was full of such joy - it was only just beginning.
But then came a letter from the Hero of Telrunya, he who spread gospel to the heretical faun, Malek's grandfather. It willed him to the Quiet Woods, to continue where he no longer could. The Guardians had brought such blessings to his own life, his soon-to-be family... If they called upon him now to repay such a debt, all he could do was answer. So he wrapped his arms around Crystal, kissed her, and smiled as he left.
She knew, surely, the Guardians would return him to her one day.
That day has not yet come. It may never come.

The meeting was awkward, filled with dead silence as the three of them (Kasmai had both of them at his place to reveal what had transpired) what now? Co-parenting was on the agenda, but they needed one place to just have the kids and raise them. Organise good this was hard, but they made do (it helped that Xeneka was not a permanent resident anywhere), so house, supplies were soon pouring into the house.
The children were a month apart, but raising them was fun. All of them took turns taking care of the little ones. Their personalities helped with training them for what was to come when they grew. Though, it cannot be said about their feelings for one another. Eniko and Kasmai had their thing going with others and perhaps together. Xeneka was still trying to fit into her skin (so to speak) but they were determined to get it right. Once the kids grew and “flew the nest”, the three sat down and discussed what to do next. Can they really be a couple? They do care for each other but it could have been because of the situation they were in. And yet…
