I really don't think that Asian horror is all that spectacular on average, they are just like any other country. Hit or miss. I'm not saying that I hate them or anything because I am a HUGE horror fan (from any country.) Most asian horror movies I feel are really off the wall and are very hard to get a grasp on what is/was happening in the films. My favorites are Ringu, Juon, Three Extremes, Audition, and Gin gwai. I do feel that American horror gets overlooked a lot now and is stereotyped into just producing slasher flicks (which I also love.) The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Session 9 scared the pants off of me.

    Moon Child.

It's a Japanese vampire/somewhat gang movie. It features Pop Artists HYDE and Gackt (Gackt <3). It's based in the future and it is quite good, has a tad bit of moment where you'd wanna cry and some going "Holy crap!". Some humor in it as well.

The gun fights are stunning as well. John Woo style. ^^

I actually didnt like the Tale of Two Sisters. For some reason the plot seemed very American to me but Im not a big fan of Korean horror. Now I love j-horror and some Chinese.

The Audition is the only movie that ever scared me before
And Marebito is just so wicked, I love its symbolism and its perspective

Asian horror is probably the only horror that can really scare the crap out of me while my sister laughs at it. However, her weakness is anything with Voodoo, so I laugh when we watch those.

*Ju-on (freakiest movie ever!!! Especially when one of the friends that was watching it had to walk home...in the dark, and I wasn't going to let her walk alone, so I walked with her and walked home alone...in the dark...>.< Very creepy....usually I'm ok with it...but that was freaky!)
    *Tomie (those were just weird...)
    *Shutter was awesome...^^
*Tale of Two Sisters was cool....Freaky cool....
*Ju-Re.....I don't know what to say about this one....it's just....creepy...
