Wow, I think it's been like a YEAR since I've posted here. I don't think I've improved, I think my styles changed a bit. o___o; Not so sure. Anyways, I drew this because yesterday night, I was up for like an HOUR trying to find the PERFECT roleplay character for this Ninja RPC thread.. Gosh, there was nothing. x___x Then I just felt like making my own character. Anyways, this was first suppose to be practice for body and stuff, so please critique very harshly if you want. (: That does NOT mean you can say stuff like.. "You suck stop drawing." ): I don't think that is a critique, that is more like a rude comment. D: Other than that, please critique as hard as you can! > surprised Also, advice for coloring please (: I'm not that much of a genius when it comes to colors and shading.. I think. =___=; And red-lines are much appreciated!
Before I post this, I have a question.. Does age matter in drawing? I mean, I think it sort of does.. I'm not so sure... I mean, people on the internet that I show my drawings to always say things such as.. "Wow! You're only 12?! You are pretty good for your age!" ..Yeah. o____o; And yahrly, I'm 12. Woohoo! 8D YOOOUUTTHH
I also have a strange feeling that I spelled CRITIQUE wrong this whole time. xDD

(: Well, I don't go for a lot of detail in bodies I guess. xD Thanks for the advice, and to me, the arms looked fine.. But I guess I looked at it wrong, thanks again(:

Yeah, the arms are definately not the right size, if you were to bend the arm on the left (from our perspective, right from hers) straight from where the elbow is, her fingertips would end up around the other arms wrist.
Also, as stated above, it's not too 3d-ish. Main thing on that is the shading not really having a ton of depth to it, but that's not all either. It just looks like a head on view, rather then having a perspective. Things like the belts on the feet, need to show the curves going till the back of the leg/ankle. The feet also look flat. Looks kind of like two blocks put together rather then the typical triangle-square meeting. (toes being triangle, ankle being either circle or square-ish)
Same thing for the leg pouch and the fan for the 3d effect of the belt. I'll try to post some examples on the belts to show what I mean. A text description isn't all that great. ^_^;
Anyway, Onto the good points. Great charactor design. Obviously this is based on the naruto universe for the charactor, so you did well enough that it's apparent on that. It's also a cute looking charactor that many people could like if there were a manga or series with this charactor, so props for that. (I can't charactor design all that well IMO) The clothing all matches, so it's not just a hogh-pogh of different outfits (which a lot of people do).
Good luck with more drawings, and I hope this helped. (oh, and just to note, doing line art on the pc in photoshop helps me find mistakes with a charactor. I realize you {being 12 as you said} probably don't have a way to get photoshop, but there are also free alternatives that you may want to look at for coloring and inking line art with.)
As a quick statement, Many people think age matters. I don't. I know many people that are younger then me that are much better with drawing then me, and I also know many many more people older then me that are much worse then I am.

Oooh, that is a lot of things wrong with my art. Rofl. Anyways, thanks for the advice, Yeah, drawing the hands and feet arn't really working for me. But thank you for telling me how to improve on that. Yeah, the character design is pretty awesome >:] Loool. I wasted about 30 minutes thinking about it before I drew it, xD Also, does art HAVE to look 3-Dish? D: I didn't know. Teehee, And my colors are usually colored pencils from crayola. DDD: But thanks, I will look at tutorials for photoshop later and stuff. xD So thanks for the great advice! You actually helped me a lot, in my opinion I guess. xD And thanks for the age-thing comment as well. I will try improving with all the bad points, and thanks for all the good points!
Sorry for a late reply, my computer died D8 I have to use my dad's suckish one. xD

Everybody else already critiqued the art, so I'ma critique the design! Things I like. 1) The shirt/skirt combination It's a cute design that will appeal to a lot of people. 2) The hair/eye combination! I love silver hair with sparkly blue eyes! It's a really nice color combo, and it works well with the outfit. 3) choice of weapon Fans RULE! Things that you may want to consider changing 1) The shoes each village has specific types of shoes. Even if your character is from a new village, the sandals all follow a basic design. 1) B. If you do make new shoe design that DOESN'T follow the design, Do try to make them practical. Ask yourself, would fishnet shoes really work? Are they practical? Would they easily get worn out? 2) The color scheme. Red/black can be overused. Each character or group in naruto has it's own color scheme, and red/black is already being used by the Akatsuki. Unless she is a member of the Akatsuki (which I doubt, seeing as there are no clouds) then get a different color. (I'd suggest Green/black or purple) 3) the things sticking off the fan Seriosely, what ARE they? O_O It's not that they wont work, I just can't figure out what they're there for. A hint for other characters. As with the shoes, make it practical. A cool looking outfit is useless if you can't move around properly in it! Also, for her personality, put her through the Mary Sue Litmus test. If you get above a 60 you might want to edit. A bit of curiosity on my part: What's her bloodline jutsu? :B

She's Hyuga, I spell it Hyuuga cause in my story, Hyuga got destroyed and reborn as HYUUGA! biggrin No, kidding, I just mispelled it like that in the beginning and got used to it. xD Thanks for the compliments. Yes, her outfit is like WOOOOOOHOOOO! And when I did the colors, I thought red would look best on her. Really, would green look good on her? ): I just don't find it would be nice if it wasn't red and black. But thankies for the color scheme advice (: The shoes! Yes, the shoes. I made them the standered blue shoes but it made her look weird, so I went with them, haha xD Anyways, thanks for the awesome mucho advice. ^__^
