So, are any of you wanting to go to art college and gain a degree in fine arts, or just major in art at a normal college?
For me, I'm hoping to go to Savannah College of Art and Design (which is awesomely 2 hours away from where I live) and major in Graphic Design (since there's more job options there) while minoring in Creative Writing.
Unfortunately, SCAD is over $34k a year with tuition and room and board, etc combined. So I'll probably have to transfer after 2 years at a normal college.

How about you guys? O:

I would LOVE to do something with photography or film production, leaning more towards film production.
So I'm looking at UCLA's film school.

However, I'll probably wind up studying literature (WHICH I LOVE TOO!) and then going back to school for film.

I'm working on a degree in Art and Design at Northern Michigan University. It's definitely not an art college but it's ... pretty well-regarded, at least I'm told. It's kind of a general college.

I was thinking of transferring to SCAD. D: A lot of people I know are going. But holy s**t that's really expensive.

I really want to go to Art Center or Otis, but those are EXTREMELY difficult to get into and really expensive. At the same time they're both in the top ten for art colleges in the country. Art Center is one of the best in the world and gives you a lot of opportunities to transfer.

I might end up going to a cheapy Art Insitute or Cal State Fullerton, which has a decent Animation and Graphic Design program. Although Cal State Long Beach has a better Graphic Design program it just takes an extra year to get into it.

Well I've got 3 years left in school, the last two will be spent compiling a portfolio so I can get into NCAD(National College of Art in Design) which is probably the best Art College in Ireland. I want to do Fine Art or Fashion and Design. I see more hope (career-wise and such) for me in Fashion, though so I'll probably end up pursuing that.

The university system here is a lot better than America as it's hella cheaper and most of it is paid for you. Now that may not be the exact case but I know your first year is paid for you definitely. 3nodding

I don't have to board either because every decent Art College (if not every Art College) is in Dublin where I live. It's about a 30-60 minute commute on the DART(train) to NCAD depending on the time of day. :D There are other colleges further Southside(I'm Northside). :3

Cal State Long Beach in another 4-5 years, hopefully, after some residency and money gets saved back, for pretty much the same as Naff's going for, plus some Web Design and Music Production courses. The community college here was good, but I got lazy and distacted, and it's hard to stay inspired and focused when there's next to no jobs based on my skills around here. Plus, got kicked out. surprised

In the end, it's all seed money for my own private business/label, and possibly a studio/private club for art and music that I can help my friends distribute or record their stuff for cheap Indie bucks, have a venue for lesser-knowns from across the country (kind of like the places around here are), and even just for lulz and a place to lay my head to sleep.
