The Literate Spam Guild's National Novel Writing Month 2008 Support Thread!Isn't that a mouthful?
What is NaNoWriMo, you ask?Well, seeing that it stands for
National Novel Writing Month, it's not too difficult to figure out - throughout the month of
November (it's almost like "novel!"), you ... write a novel. The entire thing.
That's crazy!I KNOW THAT'S PART OF THE CHALLENGE.
The official challenge is to write 50,000 words in this month, at least, more totally being encouraged but not a requirement. There's also an
official website and signup and everything like that, but I'm not going into detail like that when we can just have an unofficial, for-fun event here in the LSG for it.
When does it begin?November 1st, at the stroke of midnight, after Halloween. You ARE allowed to outline the story before then, but you are NOT allowed to start writing it before, and it runs through the end of November. So be finished before December 1st, if you can help it! (Or, that's when you can finally take a breather without feeling guilty. ;D)
Are there any prizes?Nooo sorry, this is for fun. I can't afford to hand out prizes anyway. xD PLUS it's so difficult to prove if you really wrote it in the time allowed and whatnot... not to mention, I'm participating as well. Although I believe there are prizes on the official website.. or something. If you're interested, check that all out, too.
However if this does come together really well I might do art of the participants, but that's only if you REALLY ARE TRYING. I'll be watching.
What if I'm done with my story and it's only 35,000 words? So what? You at least have the satisfaction of FINALLY getting it out on paper, right?
What is the point of this thread? To help encourage other participants, of course! OR, even just brag about how far you made it in x amount of days. xD
I'd suggest getting a Blogger or Livejournal account where you can post your work, let others read it and whatnot, or even a deviantART page, that way if you're stuck, others here can help you out or even point out a new direction to take the story, if need be.
