...a band you like gets REALLY popular? Like, all the preppy chicks are writing it all over their agendas or the boys rap to it or something?
Mine would be Owl City. I bought his album so I could expand my OC horizon, and I fell in love with Vanilla Twilight before I actually bought the album. Now it's playing on the radio and I cringe inside and turn the radio off. Why can't they use some of his weirder songs, like Dental Care or Hello Seattle? Show a side no one sees?
I'll hold up the studio if they play Meteor Shower. that's my current favorite song and I'd snap if preps were walking around singing "I can finally see, that you're right there beside me. I have left my own, for I have been renewed. Please don't let me go, I desperatly need you."
What about you guys?

I don't really care about the popularity of the music I listen to, some is quite indie, some is very mainstream. I think it's pretty cool when other people like the same music as I do. But I don't really listen to the radio, I can imagine if I did the overplaying of a song could potentially ruin it for me.

Ugh, yeah. I liked a lot of songs before the radio began playing them. It's just so stupid.

This is why I hate 99% of the new bands (besides the fact their music sucks a**, in my opinion) AND I'm too attached to my Japanese and Classic Rock.
If it's played a lot, eh, fine. As long as I LIKE IT, I don't care. But once people start labeling me because I like something, that's when I get pissed off.
I don't listen to the radio either, and when I do, it's on the classic rock channel.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●● At least the over played bit is what you're complaining about. I can't stand people that are always going, "OMG I liked them WAAAYY before they popular so I hate them now because it's cool to hate something that's popular rather than not letting everyone around me define who I am."
I like what I like, regardless to if it's popular or not. I actually think it's worse to stop liking something because it's popular than to like it because it's popular, though.
So to actually anwser your question no it doesn't bother me. I rarely listen to to the radio anyways. =/ ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Doesn't bother me at all. Though, if I were to hear t.A.T.u or Emilie Autumn on the radio, I'd flip s**t.

-----My most favorite bands are foreign, or of a genre that will never be mainstream (industrial, wut).
I do get what you mean by being tired of something just because you hear it/see it too often. But that's when I just switch over and listen to something else for awhile.

Ugh... I hate it when girls paste pictures of the Jonas Bros. all over anything they might be wearing, carrying, or using. Their walls are papered with posters of them, their backpacks, folders, notebooks, pencils, pencil cases, pencil sharpeners, rulers, T shirts, bags, purses, hair bands, bracelets, text book covers are all mirror images of the band's face. I'm fine with people who like their music, but some of them are so... obsessive.

Some of the music I like is very mainstream but most of it is underground. The only thing that bothers me if these bands suddenly becomes cool to hate... and that is usually what happends.

Edit;; Actually I don't mind, unless it those over played bands. But my kind of music isn't "good" enough to be played on the radio, so I can't say much. And usually bands that I like that get popular, I usually grow out of easily because they just get kinda boring to me. Not because they become popular, just overall.

I hate it when the radio plays a song over and over again until you can't listen to it anymore! And also when a sibling (step sibling in my case) ruins a song for you.

I don't care if a band I like becomes mainstream. Actually I kinda say a "good for you!" I don't like it when people like a band just because it's mainstream, or stop supporting it because it is. It should be about the music, nothing else.

I completely agree! All my favorite songs I wish they'd play on the radio.
