Without intending to sound like a jerk, I was finally able to say goodbye to Pippi this morning. She passed away after being sick for a long time. She hadn't eaten over a week and had dropsy for a good 4-5 days.
When I first brought her home from my store, I figured she would live a few months. I was so wrong. See, Pippi had a permanent swimbladder disorder that caused her to typically float at the top of the water. She never overcame her swimbladder problem, but her tough will to live and good attitude kept her quite happy despite the problem.
Estimating her age by her size when I bought her (guessing she was about 3 months old), she turned 3 years old around this past March and was easily my oldest fish ever. She'll be dearly missed, but I'm so glad she's not in pain anymore. She was so strong that she fought it until the very end. Tough girl. I love you, Pippi. heart
