So I was just on the Lady Gaga forum, and posted in an opinion thread. I had responded to someone saying that the Alejandro video was a Santanic, and that Lady Gaga was a freak. I responded saying that the video actually has a religious basis, which it does.
Now, while I was gone, someone replied to my post saying that I was in denial, and that the video was purely Satanic, "irreverently disrespectful," and that "anyone who's anyone" does it these days.
If anyone had payed attention to the video, it definitely has some Satanic symbolism in it, but it also has some symbolism of Salvation and of being Holy. The whole idea to the video is Spiritual Salvation vs Dark Forces. A key example is at the end of the video, where in her nun outfit, her face disintegrates. That image symbolizes letting go of any evil in one's self and taking in the holy. Had anyone also given the time to research that, they'd have known that.
So really? How am I in denial when even the producer of the video explains it that way? Hmm?
What did you guys think of Alejandro?
[EDIT] Yes, I see the typo in my poll. Dx

When I first saw the video I thought it was just a little like softcore porn in parts. Then after going on Tumblr I totally had this "can't be unseen" moment. Yeah, totally no religious, but quite funny. I never looked too deeply into what was going on in the video. I usually spend most of my time trying to prove to my mom that she is a she. (Come on, her boobs look totally real, and her curves.) The end of the video seemed very Madonna Vogue to me. Everything is on the surface for me. People just wanna be GaGa bashers cause they wish they were her.

ugh, i've been trying to stray from the forums. some people are just so immature and so "NO, I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE JUST STUPID or I'M CLEARLY JOKING SO STOP BEING STUPID or YOU ARE SO WRONG CUZ YOU DON'T AGREE WITH ME" that i just got annoyed. i wouldn't recommend paying too much attention to them.
as for the video, i haven't seen it, but i'm pretty sick of all these artists defending the symbolism in their videos. i mean, it becomes controversy, so they defend it, but they could have prevented it in the first place if they had simply chosen a more obvious way of conveying their message. i dunno. it's not that i want to put down creativity or anything, but really, the video shouldn't be as important to people as the music itself. the artist (in my opinion) shouldn't have to concern themselves with the symbolism in the video so much that it becomes an issue, because they could use the lyrics as their symbolic creative outlet.
