I agree; expensive times ten to the power of thirty-five. Ugh. I've been meaning to buy a real, heavily-boned, steel-bone overbust long-line corset for like, eras now, but I never have the money at the right times. XD It costs like, $400 for a custom steel-boned corset, which is a little more than I can manage at one time. But I want a good one soooo baddllyyyyy. I have a cheap (okay, not so much, cost me like, $300 before I learned a whole lot about corsets) ill-fitting, rigilene-boned underbust corset. It's uncomfortable, only because it doesn't fit right. Corsets shouldn't hurt if they fit properly, and you make sure you're not causing your body undue harm by lacing it too tight too fast.
I don't wanna tightlace, but I love the feeling of being held like that, of being just slightly constricted, of being forced into good posture, it feels so elegant and amazing.
Ugh. You guys are reignighting my desire for a good corset now. XD I have money, technically... student loan money, but still -whine-

They can make it to where you can't have children if you wear them to tight.

Yeah, but that'd take a whole lot of effort, XP To train down to that size would take a long long time, unless you wanted to wreck everything else in your body. Your visceral organs would be in more immediate danger than your reproductive ones, anyway. I don't wanna waist-train, necessarily, but I don't think people shouldn't do it, so long as they're safe and smart about it, know the risks and whatnot. Besides, I didn't want to have kids, anyway. XD

I have a few less expensive ones, from Hot Topic, after you remove that horrible plastic that warps to heck and back, they look pretty good on. (I've gotten tons of compliments on them anyway...)
However I do plan on making a few of my own here soon, since I'm pretty decent at sewing. None with the boning though, since I don't wear mine super-tight, it's not really needed. I'll just make sure to reinforce the seams. 3nodding

I know a good website that sells corsets for about 30 dollars to about 150 dollars. It's called Corset Story. Check it out, they have a lot of styles and colors for you to select.
