Criscroak the gnome rubbed his forehead. This seemed like like a good idea at the time: a friendly game of Dungeons & Humans late at night in Arel's office, right outside the door to Helma's office was the perfect place for a spooky story. Or it would have been if certain gnomes took this more seriously.
"Look Henr-"
"It's Galpole, Sorcerer of Darkness! And I've been telling you, I wanna cast magic missile!"
"Why are you casting magic missile? There's nothing to attack here."
"Yeah-huh! I'm atta-"
"CAN I SEE THIS STUFF HAPPENING?!"

Criscroak groaned. Tonight was going to be a very, very long night.
Name: Aen'ryliis Nicknames: Riley, Annie, Face Hugger Gender: Illithid are hermaphroditic, but her visible gender features are clearly feminine. Age: 23

Personality: Riley is smarter than you.
You should probably just accept this now and get on with your life, because Riley is smarter than you.
Being an Illithid carries with it distinct advantages... like being smarter than you. Riley has supreme confidence in this, and she wears that self-assuredness like a suit of armor. Any insults about her appearance, any negative comment about her smugness, any sarcastic remark or quip hits this hard shell and bounces off, deflected as nothing more than mere jealousy over just how much smarter she is than you. Everything about her, from the way she moves to the way she 'speaks' oozes confidence and arrogance, but she's intelligent enough to know how to spin this into a positive trait. She wields sarcasm like a weapon, and will often use her superior intelligence and manipulative nature to entertain herself.
However, being a brain-eating genius hell bent on controlling the multiverse does bring with it some strong downsides. When you're born into a family of fellow brain-eating geniuses hell bent on controlling the multiverse, competition is a way of life. Riley has difficulty with the concept of 'friendship', as even her own siblings and closest childhood friends were to be viewed as stepping stones to power and greatness.
Illithids, as a culture, have a fear of the undead. This manifests as being uncomfortable around some undead species, particularly those who do not have consumable brains or who are immune to telepathic detection and manipulation. Time has permanently etched a dissonance between this cultural feature and Riley, as she has not only created strong bonds of friendship with other undead, but has fallen in love with one, and considers her life incomplete without it. Her choices have gone directly against the wishes of her people, and her ultimate chosen destiny, leaving her at risk for immediate discharge if her hive was to become aware of her all-encompassing relationship with the plague doctor, Malodore.
This particular danger has passed, as her recent death and subsequent re-animation have left her disconnected from her hive entirely. Her people think her dead, and she is no longer able to connect to them. Her death has also left her with a large gap in memory, particularly any time she spent here at Amityville has been lost.
As for her own abilities in the area of telepathic function, since speech is impossible for her, she speaks through her mind, and those who she is speaking to will hear her thoughts in their own. Though she's been used to reading minds telepathically, it seems much more difficult, almost impossible here at the Academy. So far, the only way she's been able to read minds is if her target is thinking really hard or "loudly" at her. All in all, it's a frustrating experience.
Riley is ambitious, and seeks greater control over her psionic abilities. She, like all Illithid, frowns upon magic, preferring to rely on her own power. As such, she will rarely be enrolled in standard sorcery classes that teach 'inferior' forms of magic, unless it is to learn how to overcome them should the need arise. Riley also has a desire to learn of species and language which the Elder-Brain (the hivemind overlord of illithid culture) does not have knowledge. It is for this reason that she has come to Amityville, to collect knowledge that is not available to her through the hivemind.
TL;DR Riley is a manipulator. She will find out what you want, and she will give it to you. For the price of your soul fealty.

FEAR:
Initial Fear Paralysis: This is the most basic use of an Illithid's psionic power, to shut down the brain and paralyze an opponent. This is done by stopping the communication of the brain with the muscles, and does not allow for actual mind control. The target is frozen for enough time to allow Riley to attack twice. School Category the Fear is: T3 Double Take Dice Roll: 4d10 First Two Dice: Add the first two dice and subtract 6. This is the damage of the first attack. Last Two Dice: Add these two dice together and subtract 6. This is the damage of your second attack. xxxxx Example: Say I roll 2, 5, 4, 6. xxxxx 2+5=7-6= 1 for first attack. xxxxx 4+6=10-6= 4 for second attack.
Year 2 addition Psionic Crystals - The crystals that make up her wings detach and slash at the opponent. School Category the Fear is: T2 Swift Strikes Dice Roll: 9d4 First Dice: xxxxx 1: Miss xxxxx 2 - 3: HIT however the resulting damage is divided by 2. Only 50% of the damage is dealt. xxxxx 4: HIT however the resulting damage is multiplied by .8. Only 80% of the damage is dealt. Damage: Ignore the first dice, total up the remaining dice. Divide or multiply the total by the modifier depending.
Year 3 addition Psychokinetic Blast - Psionic power built up into a giant shot of energy. Ow. School Category the Fear is: T1 Battle Cry Dice Roll: 4d4 First Dice: xxxxx 1: Miss xxxxx 2: Half Damage xxxxx 3-4: Full Damage Damage: Add up remaining dice. This total is the damage dealt to your opponent.
Alumni addition Tentaclecopter - Also known as tentacle double slap. It is exactly what it sounds. School Category the Fear is: T3 Charge (upgraded) Dice Roll: 4d12 First Two Dice: work just like standard attack dice. xxxxx ie, 2d12 -6 = the damage to your first target. Third Dice: is your direct damage to your second target. Fourth Dice: divided by 2 is the damage do your third target. Remember to round up.
ARTIFACTS:
Class A Artifact: Sunday
Invoked Form: 10 charges: Riley turns to a glass form, and her crystal wings reshape into a sun behind her. She shatters to do damage.
Non-Battle Abilities:
[ Disguise ] Disguise yourself as a Human for 30 min. Always stays the same form. Cannot be an existing Human. Note that they will APPEAR human, and will still set off any Fear detectors from Deus Ex. ( 2 points)
[ Mirror Clone ] You can make a "mirror clone" of yourself. This will only REPEAT the last action you did. This lasts for 30 minutes. For example, if you were washing dishes, the mirror clone will help you wash the rest of the dishes for 30 minutes. (5 points)
[ Mimic ] You can copy the appearance of someone you have exchanged student pin with when you equip their student pin. This lasts for only 5 minutes (up to you regular or natural form). Note that this isn't their skull pin; the "student pin" is the pin with their emblem on it. (3 points)
Natural Abilities: -Illithid see equally well in darkness and light. -Psionic hoverflight -Basic telekinesis
The physical: In her natural form, Riley looks like any other Illithid. Because.. seriously. They all look the same. In her school form, however, Riley has adopted a much more socially acceptable skin. Illithid are “born” after being implanted in a host's brain, and Riley has chosen the tall, slender drow body of her original host to carry her through Amityville. The differences between the original dark elf form and the one she actually has in school are pale purple skin (closer to her Illithid form) instead of the usual grays or black, the absence of a mouth or nose (The area over her mouth/nose is just smooth skin, forcing her to speak through telepathy), and the presence of long, tentacled hair. Her hands still have the long, thin, clawed fingers of an Illithid's hands.
Due to recent events, Riley now has a 3 x 3 inch hole in her abdomen.
Eye Colour: Illithids have solid, milky-white eyes with no pupils.
Hair Colour/Style: Riley's hair is made of several long tentacles that resemble the mouth tentacles of her original form. The tentacles don't have “suckers” on them, they're just smooth tentacles.
Skin Colour: Purple-grey.
Clothing Style/Colours: Riley wears robes similar to her mindflayer form, accessorized by armor she has made herself. Her accessories are made of a variety of psionic crystals.

Riley's Housing Facility Riley's Dorm is a set of four connecting rooms.
-The doorway opens directly to the living room, which is a dark room lit only by candlelight. The walls are lined with bookshelves, and there is an open archway to the right, and left. There are no windows. There is a water filled treasure chest on the west corner floor. Within it sleeps a bubbling Cthulhu. On a nearby fancy round table is a bedtime story book named The Adventures of Lil Cthulhu.
-To the left sits the kitchen, which is small and understocked - there is no food in the cabinets, and there is a small fridge with an abnormally large freezer. This is where Riley stores her meals. There is are two bowls off to the side, one of which is covered in slime. The word 'Precious' is engraved on the slimed one. Beside the slimed bowl is a tiny tray, filled with sand and old ashes of cigars. There are no windows in this room, either.
-The archway to the right of the living room is covered completely by a black tapered cloth. Pushing this cloth away reveals the study - a brightly lit area with lamps sitting on a large oak desk, and two windows on one side. This room is a stark contrast to the living room - clearly the living room was designed to discourage visitors from coming in or staying too long. There is an aquarium in this room, and within it swims a beautiful Bioluminora, and several small Cephalatos. There is an archway directly ahead.
-Beyond this final archway is the bedroom. It is also well lit by a single window and a lamp, and houses nothing more than a giant plush bed with spiked ends, and two small round animal beds with golden frills.
This page in the log is folded over, as it was written before Riley died. There are many people on this list she doesn't even recognize anymore, so she started a new one. She also doesn't remember what the letters stood for.
