Well, I figured that because I'm getting Black and White today, I should write a semi-impromptu fanfiction detailing my version of the adventure my trainer has in Unova. I have no title yet, so if anyone has some ideas, go ahead and give me them, once I start getting into the chapters.

As for this prologue, I'm not entirely good with goodbye scenes, and the ending is so sudden on purpose.

~Prologue~

"Do you really have to go, Jake?" Professor Rowan asked as a young man, a Pokémon packed extra potions and a few snacks into his green backpack. "I thought you were interested in the legend of Arceus?" The trainer looked at Rowan and smiled.

"Professor," he chuckled, "of course I am. It's just that I want to see this new land."

"Unova?" Rowan looked at the three Pokéballs that sat on his desk. "But why are you leaving these three here?" Jake looked over to the Pokéballs and his eyes full of excitement softened up with fondness. He approached them and tapped each one, releasing the Pokémon from within. A Hariyama, Altaria, and Pikachu emerged. Pikachu and Hariyama appeared to be on the verge of tears, while his Altaria leaned on him.

"Aw, c'mon you guys," Jake said, his voice shaky. "You three are the best. You deserve this time to relax. Have some fun… you know…" He rubbed his eyes and regained his composure. He looked down to his Altaria. "Weewee, watch over these two, alright? You're the oldest of the team. Don't let them do anything silly, alright?"

"Altaria!" Altaria pecked his cheek as if she was saying, "The same goes for you."

"Sumo--" The Hariyama suddenly wrapped his arms around Jake, tears rolling from his eyes. This grip was unlike the bearhugs he had given Jake in the past. He did not want to let go. "E-Easy, Sumo…" Jake wrapped an arm around Sumo as far as he could reach. "I'll miss you a lot as well. Remember, you're Pip's older brother--watch after her. Listen to Weewee as well." Jake's feet were off the ground as Hariyama turned its body, refusing to let go of his trainer. "Don't worry Sumo!" Jake laughed. "You can never be replaced. You will always be the first Pokémon I've ever captured." Hariyama set Jake down on the ground and let how kneel down to talk to the blue eyed Pikachu which stared up at him.
"Pika?"

"Hey, Pip," he said, letting the Pikachu run up his arm and onto his shoulder. "I'll miss you as well." Pikachu nuzzled into his neck, to which Jake returned the gesture . "You be good as well. If you want to go surfing, as the Professor to take you down to the beach," he said. "Whatever you do, stick with Sumo and Weewee. You're a special Pikachu, and don't forget that." Jake let Pip hop off his shoulder and stand next to Sumo and Weewee. Jake turned to Rowan and gave a nod. "Take good care of them, Professor."

"I'll be honest, Jake," Rowan explained. "When I first met you, I expected you to be some battle-obsessed nut. Over these four years, I can say my opinion has changed. "

"Stop it, you're making me feel old!" Jake laughed.

"You?" Rowan replied. "Don't start feeling old around me!" The two had a long laugh. "So, tell me, what is it that's drawing you to Unova?"

Jake replied by pulling out the old Pokédex he had received back in Hoenn at the start of his journey.

"You plan on getting it upgraded again, aren't you?" Rowan asked.

Jake nodded.

"Always trying to catch 'em all, aren't you?" Rowan chuckled.

"Not just that," Jake replied. "Didn't I tell you? I'm interested in the differences between wild and trained Pokémon. "

"But why so far away?"

"Honestly?"

"Honestly."

"I had a dream," Jake explained. "A vision, maybe. Something big is about to happen, and I am involved."

"A vision?" Rowan crossed his arm. "Hmmm…" Then he noticed something, a fourth Pokéball on Jake's belt. Its crimson color was recognizable. "Jake, is that a Cherish Ball?"

"A what?" Jake looked at his belt. "This?" Jake took it off and held it up and examined it.

"Yes, that is definitely a Cherish Ball. Where did you get it?"

"I don't know why," Jake started, "But when I went out to buy supplies a delivery man said that this was for me."

"Well, what is it?" Rowan asked. "Have you released whatever was inside?"

"No, but…" Jake shrunk under Rowan's gaze. It compelled him to release the Pokémon inside. "Alright, I choose you!"
