The only thing I can suggest is conditioning yourself to not bite your lips. I don't really think chapstick would help if you just keep biting your lips. Just yell at yourself whenever you find yourself doing it. Eventually, you'll stop. That's how I stopped biting my nails, at least. Good Luck, and once you stop biting your lips, you should be able to use chapstick to make your lips nice and soft again.

Chewing gum. I bite my lips and the inside of my mouth often but I've noticed when I'm chewing gum I don't bite no matter how bored or nervous I am.
If you decide to try gum, AVOID buying gum sweetened with aspartame or sugar. Sugar will lead to cavities (obviously) and aspartame is bad for your health in the long run, it causes nerve problems and tinnitus. Try to buy gums with xylitol, it restores enamel, fights plaque, and kills bacteria.

My fiance is notorious for biting his lip. When he's nervous, in pain, or just bored he's always chewing on his lip.
He's been really ill lately and since hasn't been physically able to bite his lip. We've been putting chapstick on it and it looks like normal. I suggest just not biting it. Vaseline is my favorite lip moisturizer, I put some on at night while I sleep and my lips always look very nice.

Lip biting and chewing is a formed habit, you can't just tell someone to stop. Most people aren't immediately aware they're even doing it until they notice pain and not doing it can make them twitchy or agitated until the desire passes. She needs to be "weened" off of biting her lip to break the habit. Ramiele My fiance is notorious for biting his lip. When he's nervous, in pain, or just bored he's always chewing on his lip. Nevermind. Edited my post, because I'm not interested to start a debate or an argument. However even with an extremely addictive personality, I'm able to stop doing things cold turkey. I stopped biting my nails cold turkey, stopped smoking and drinking cold turkey, but that's not relevant to this post. I don't personally know the original poster, so I can't say whether she needs "weened" or she's got a formed habit here. My only guess is that it would be hard for anyone to suggest this with little information the original poster gave. xena91388 Lip biting and chewing is a formed habit, you can't just tell someone to stop. rcatgurl I have a horrid habit of biteing my lips when i'm nervous or bored, and it leaves a mark. You can seee the outlinee of my tteeth. I have tryied chapstick, but I always lose it. Try chewing gum regularly (NOT chomping! razz ) OR you can try lotion on your lips instead. It's suppose to help you stop. I have heard that you could get some lip balm that tastes bad kind of like you can get really bad tasting nail polish for nail biters. You might look into it. smile
