I've played DnD plenty before, I have a basic grasp of the rules. I prefer 3.5 over 4th edition.

I like to play hybrid characters and those planar creatures you can have as half characters in 3.5 I forget their name but they're pretty awesome.

As far as preferred RP type. Plot is super important. Fantasy/Medieval/Steampunk etc. Genre isn't as important as game world and plot.

I wish I remembered what they were called. One looked like a hound, another like an angel. They varied greatly in appearance and ability and I believe they were astral in nature.

Wait, I got a flippin monster manual in the closet. I'll edit it in.

Elves can be half-human. Orcs too. Muls didn't turn up in the XPH though.

My game. Plot will be there. At ECL 1, however, the most you'll probably get are either Dragonborn (from Races of the Dragon book), Hellbred (from Fiendish Codex 2) Muls (which I allow) Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Mongrelfolk (the one I have is from fiend folio), Neraphim (planar handbook) and those extraplanar creatures, I think, are Mephlings, also from Planar Handbook.

I also allow monster classes from Savage Species, if you're inclined, although we already have a minotaur.
