I just donated 12 inches of my hair to locks of love.

I am now going through major withdrawal...my hair barely touches my chin now ;(

But I know that my hair will go to some very deserving people!

Have you ever donated your hair, or undergone a big haircut?

I have never had large amounts of hair, but if I did then I would not give it up for the world. (Well...Maybe I would be willing to get rid of it, but it would take a religious conviction to get me to do so.)

We don't have Locks of Love hair, so I've never donated any hair. 3nodding But I have undergone a few drastic cuts in my short lifetime. xp I will never speak of them again. ninja Must destroy the evidence!

I have donated to Locks of Love twice. First time I donated 12 inches, and the last time I donated 14 inches. It's been a few years since I had that last haircut, so it's about time I do it again. 3nodding

I didn't think I did either!
It was so nerve racking - as soon as she cut it off I had to stare at it all on the counter. ;(

Comic, I am so proud of you for what you did! I am positive that there will be one very grateful person who will be receiving that special gift of a wig made from your hair! If it's any consolation, hair grows 6 inches a year on average, so it shouldn't be too long before you get those lovely locks back.

In my younger years, my mom always had my hair cut into a Pixie style, so she wouldn't have to deal with it too much. From the 6th grade on, I was allowed to grow my hair out and I have had long hair ever since. When I do get my hair cut, I usually instruct to have it cut long enough to pull back into a ponytail.

Several years ago, I had heard about Locks of Love through some TV program in regards to cancer patients loosing their hair because of chemotherapy treatments. And then a hair salon in my area started advertising free hair cuts for those who had 10 inches or more hair to donate to Locks of Love. So since then, I've donated my hair twice and I am pleased that my hair was made into a wig each time for a couple of deserving patients who lost their hair through medical issues.

Though nowadays, my hair has a lot more grey in it. Last year, I had heard on another TV program that Locks of Love doesn't take grey hair. At another time, I heard there was another organization that takes hair donations of shorter lengths and of any color, including grey, but I didn't catch the name of that particular organization. If anyone knows of any other organizations taking hair donations for [cancer] patients, please let me know!

Thank you! And I am very much excited for my hair to grow back, I'm looking forward to the experience again smile

I think that pantene runs a hair campaign similar to Locks for Love, you could take a look at that.
