I've had a problem with acne for years, and it goes from okay to quite bad. At the moment it isn't that good. I've tried many products to try and rid my face of these horrible spots, but to no avail.
So, does anyone have any home remedies that they know work, or at least tame acne down? Thanks in advance. <:

I would have to suggest this kind of face scrub. It's called Cetaphyl and it works wonders! If you want to you should try it smile

In all honesty, scrubs and straight rubbing alcohol might just make your face worse if you have a sensitive sort of skin; they irritate the skin/acne and it gets all angry and inflamed. I know those things make me worse.
I suggest you try using a combination of products to try and get clear.
It took my current regiment a month or so to work, but I'm starting to see a great improvement.
I use the Proactive system along with Olay soap with Shea Butter, (it comes in a bar), and lots of unscented baby lotion. Keeping your face clean and moisturized, (without being greasy), is key.
You should also avoid touching your face as much as possible, and maybe try changing your pillowcase more often, since that is where all the oil in your hair goes when you sleep.
Also, also, cutting out dairy products in your diet might help as well.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It depends on what kind of skin do you have. Oily, dry, chapped, ect.

I personally have very oily skin (and at random times it would be very dry). and have tried many treatments such as, Neutrogena, Clearasil, Clinique, Noxzema, and Proactiv (which I'm currently using at the moment).

But I've also done simple treatments that you can do straight at home without the needs for buying a product. Although, that doesn't mean it can be a substitute for the product that you are using, it just helps you make your pores smaller and cleaner. For example:

If you have a white blemish, take an ice cube and press it against the pimple in a circular motion (also, don't leave the ice cube on your pimple for too long, because you can possibly get a freezer burn). The chill from the ice helps reduce inflaming in the pimple and shrinks the spot. Then wash your face with the regular products you normally use. It's also something for temporary use, only when you need to, really. It's not something to do as part of your daily schedule.

I used to use the Neutrogena Wave, I think it does work, but it doesn't seem to be a product that should be used by itself. It did make my skin softer and made it look fresher, but I always used a different product (after I washed my face).

Clearasil, I do not enjoyyyy.... -.-
It didn't do very much for my skin, it just seemed to sit there, it didn't make my face worse nor better. It was just there.

Clinique I used for a while, my mom uses it so that's how I find out about it. It's a good product depending on your skin. Although sometimes my skin would inflame, because it made my skin too dry (I used the bar of soap). It's best to use it when you are taking a shower (if you have the bar of soap; Face and shoulders only), after you washed your hair.

I heard about Noxzema from my older sister. It's a good product and it clears your skin well, but after a few weeks of using it my face became inflamed (Also, it has a very strong smell. Bewareee...).

I am now currently using Proactiv and I personally adore it, it does clear up my skin, and it gives it the right nutrients it needs. Although, just like any product in the world blemishes clear up in practically a month. The problem with Proactiv though, is when you first use it may make your pimples worse, but then after a while it clears up amazingly. Also, you cannot skip a day when using proactiv, or else the blemishes will come back the next day.

I always have to get myself to wash my face, because sometimes I just have time, or I really just don't want to get up and do it. I'm too lazy. But you gotta be committed to cleaning your face when you wake up and before you go to sleep. I also have to force myself not to touch my face, because I have that horrible habit.

*~Also~*

These are just my personal experiences with those products, everyone's skin is different, hence, all skin may react differently.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

like the poster above me said, it depends on what type of skin you have, but i was led to believe that the types were: oily, hormones, and germs.
If its germs (you can tell if lots of your zits have white tips) then you just have to stop touching your face. this actually will help with all zit problems overall too.
oil and hormones you just need to wash your face regularly. i do benzoyl peroxide based clean&clear + salicylic acid oi free astringent. that seems to work really well. if your face dries out a little too much, as mines does, then skip a few nights of astringent or use less, or switch to the sensitive skin clean&clear for a few days.
hope it helps!

A healthy diet, drinking plenty of water and getting regular exercise helps. Gently washing with a mild detergent and not over drying, over-moisturizing, or over scrubbing is how you want to clean.
Witch-hazel is good astringent you can use to clean and close pores and it's pretty cheap too.
If it is seriously bad, talk to your doctor or dermatologist about getting a topical antibiotic to stop and prevent breakouts

The one thing that really helps is washing your face religiously! I mean like morning and night really well. I find if i do that for even a couple of days my acne gets a bit better. For cleansers and things like that i would say try going natural. You should try washing your face with oatmeal. It is really good for your skin and it makes your face feel sooooooo good afterwards. Also wearing makeup that clogs pores such as concealer, foundation and powders can make your acne worse so i would try to avoid wearing them as much as you can.
