wow I haven't posted in here in a while. Maybe i will make my cat update thread in here. But anyways back to the matter at hand/paw. Hopefully a vet tech type person could help me a bit.

Jake is the stray that after feeidn and a long winter has adopted the family, and more so after two weeks ago bonded more to me and one of my friends. He is a super loving cat even when you are forcing him to take medicine or trying to take a closer look at something that hurts him.

Well today we noticed that he was a bit tender on his foot (I was looking at the claws the humane socitey clipped along with his balls two weeks ago). We noticed that his is completely missing a claw on his right foot, the second claw from the outside of the foot.

We think it looks like it is to the bone or close to it. It is infected and tonight we already washed it twice tonight with peroxide and trimmed the hair around it so that wouldn't get into it.

I am going to call a couple of vest tomorrow or Thursday when I have time to call. i think I may be able to get Vicky (my gerbil's vet her clinic does everything and she is the only exotic vet in the area) to give me some antibiotics without having to take him in. But if we have to I can probably talk my aunt into taking him in for a check up and offer to help pay for the visit.

so far we are using peroxide and that is about it. He is going to be confided again to the garage so we can keep an eye on it, but I'm going to offer moving him up into my room (one it is cleaner and two I want to see if he can adjust to being a true indoor kitty). I know I can't use neosporian on it since it is a deep wound, and because there is an infection i can't close it yet using liquid skin/bandage.

so people I ask, is there anything else at home i can do for his foot? he is still putting weight on it with little to no limping.

side note with needing to poke at it and opening it a bit to clean it out the most we got out of him was an annoyed/angry yowl and the "i will kill you in your sleep" look. And even when he was pushing with his paws there were no claws... and my face as close to his and he didn't try to bite at all... he actually liked tonya while his foot was in the peroxide.

the update....to lazy to re type it: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/pets/declawed-himself-good-update/t.72267295/

I would keep cleaning it if needed, but try to get him in asap cause that can travel through the bone and be a bad infection I believe,I could be wrong but I dont generally tinker around with infections....

WEll my aunt let Jake out this morning.... while it was cool out this morning... so Jake is off on a look around on his terretory/exploring....

We also have a HEAT ADVISORY until Midnight tonight, so I do not know if he will wander back to the house before it gets to hot or if he is just going to find a shady spot to ride out the heat until it cools off. (last night I brought him inside before it cooled off so he just was like a dog following me around for the after noon while I was outside...had a good 5-6 hours of to be outside yesterday since noon and hung around me the whole time or in a bush/ in the garage.

So goign to see if a vet will suggest keeping him inside inside (aka not in the garage) while taking care of his foot.
