I'm not going to lie, my jimmies were more or less rustled when I'd first heard Catherine was not going to be either an HD Persona game or an RPG, but a puzzle game. Thus far, however, I've found it a novel experience. The story's interesting and the character interactions, while predictably strained in a Japan-to-US adaptation, have some color. I feel the voice actors were well-chosen and fit to their roles quite well. I also like the sharp approach to the artistic style, and Vincent's various expressions are absolutely priceless.
I think Atlus showed that they have a more robust level of skill than even their most loyal fans likely believe. I'm pleasantly awaiting their next project, I want to see how they can make their mark on other genres.
