please note that these women had practically no recognition for what they've done. I've been following this story very closely, and I had not even heard of them until now.
I don't know for certain the reason of their lack of acknowledgement, and if it relates to homophobia, so if anyone knows more about this, I'm wondering about your thoughts/knowledge.

They at least deserve news recognition.

A lot of media outlets seem to be getting outraged on behalf of these women, and are jumping to a lot of conclusions, but I'm not really ready to jump on the outrage train myself.

I've seen a number of articles and blogs about Ms. Dalen and Ms. Hansen, but the majority of them have been complaining about how nobody is talking about their heroism. (It's actually kind of ironic at this point, since there's now so much talk about them. x3)

Norway is a pretty progressive country when it comes to same-sex couples, and it's my understanding that their news coverage is a lot more...stoic and reserved than what we're used to in North America or the UK. (I don't speak Norwegian, I'm just going on what I've been told by Norwegian friends and others who've lived there.) So if these ladies haven't been getting a lot of press over there, I sincerely doubt it's because of their sexual orientation.

It's also entirely possible that they've been through a horrible experience and haven't wanted to speak to the news or discuss what they've been through. They could also be desiring some privacy. Who knows?
