[1vs1] Sisterly Love (Needle & Lattice) [FIN]

Lattice wasn't sure how the topic came up but they where now at the Gym getting ready to face off against each other to test out their skills and to better themselves against whatever might come up next. That and Needle wanted to experience a spar in general thus Lattice was more than willing to help her out with that aspect.

"We shall not hold out against each other, yes?" Lattice asked as she stood across from her Twin. As much as they loved each other holding back almost seemed like it would be an insult in a way.

She moved to steady her stance, "Who goes first?"

"No holds barred." Needle agreed, sounding rather chipper despite knowing that this spar could very likely become ugly; it was her first after all, and it was wonderful that Lattice had agreed to be her partner. "It would be quite counter-productive to be gentle, after all." A sage nod from a ghoul who really had little idea of what a spar was really about out side of books and word of mouth. "We can express our apologies after it is over." As to who goes first, the blue-clad engraver pondered it for a moment.

"Ah!" She gasped in a Eureka! moment, reaching into her obi to pull out a small needle, that still had ink on it from practicing. "Points and shafts?" The needle was held out daintily for her sister's approval. "If it lands on point, you may go first." Assuming her sister would agree, the ghoul spun the small needle around her fingers before launching it into the air, taking a step back to allow it to fall on its own.

The needle landed on it's side. Well, alright then!

But Needle just stood there, looking awkwardly out of place. "Err---I am afraid I do not know how to start a battle." She admitted, rubbing the back of her neck.

Lattice was all for the game of 'points and shafts' to see who went first and when it was evident Needle would begin Lattice waited.

...Then she stared for a long moment.

"Well, you start by doing this," she reached out and swatted at her Sister's cheek though it wasn't a hard hit it was enough to get things hopefully going.

"Ah-hah! Of course!" Needle clapped her hands together, understanding. There was of course no grudge for the slap; it was against their rules AND it was a learning experience! She had every intention of hitting back, however, somehow, her arm spikes got tangled and subsequently stopped by her own hair.

"Jack damnit!" She cursed under her breath. "A note, sister; perhaps best to tie my hair back indefinitely.

Lattice had been about to strike back and then Needle got herself caught in her own hair. Lattice let out a small sound of dismay and instead of striking at her Twin she moved to help her get free of the entanglement, "Yes definitely tire our hair back a bit first at least until we figure out how to better work with it," she said softly.

"Aaah, thank you, Sister." After Lattice worked to free her arm, Needle set to tearing her obi again; this time using her teeth and her hand, since one was a little, uh, busy. With a strip free, she reached back to tie her hair...without realizing just how close Lattice still was to her. She felt the resistance of flesh, and paused before it could go any further; they were to spar, but this was an accident!

"This will be the only time I apologize, Sister; I did not mean to strike you that time!" But next time? No accident.

There was little complaint when she was accidentally struck other than a small hiss from the feel of the needles digging at her. It was incidental. It happened a lot between them. "It is more than alright, Sister."

Lattice shifted away to make it fair before she leaned forward to strike at her Sibling's shoulder with the heel of her palm in a simple but swift motion. She felt impact.

Needle stumbled half a step back from the impact of palm against her. Wow, that was actually quite the hit for a simple palm baping! Interesting~ Almost immediately she knocked the hand aside, taking a step forward to mirror her sister's 'attack', hitting shoulder with palm.

Lattice's form rocked a bit from the impact though it was nothing impressive just yet. There was a small thin line of blood on her face from the earlier accidental impact. Still Lattice clapped instead of going to attack back, "Good job!"

"Oh, yay!" She chirped happily, clapping her hands in front of her once. Her first successful 'attack'! It meant about as much as the first time she picked up a Needle, or the first time she wore her mask; had the same amount of meaning behind it, a milestone if you will.

So she tried again, and this time? She missed somehow.

At the time Needle swung at her Lattice happened to bend down to pick something up only to feel the swing waft by her with a force of air behind it. She supposed it would have been a successful hit if it hadn't have been for her bending down like that.

..Should she apologize for that? Nah.

"I do not know if we are doing very well. We seem to be lacking focus," her swing forward to swipe at her Sister and needle grazed her shoulder.

The Engraver looked thoughtful even as her sister's spike grazed her arm, drawing a thin line of blood. "No, I suppose not...perhaps a moment's peace to regain ourselves?" Still, she attempted a swipe that failed for one reason or another.

Lattice tilted her head as she moved to get closer to her Sibling only to trip and fall a needle tearing the fabric of her Twin's clothing at the legs and getting a bit of flesh as well, "Perhaps we do need to recollect ourselves..."

"Well, let us try." Needle submitted, taking a step back and collecting her thoughts, taking this moment to tie back her ridiculously long hair, managing to get the majority of it back in a ponytail with minimal scratching to her person; pieces still hung down the front of her face, but it was close enough. Once that was finished she took a deep breath, pressing her palms together just under her chin.

"Let us begin again." She said after a moment's silence, taking a quick step forward to lash a spiked hand out at her sister's core.
