[1v1] Puppy Playtime (Jove/Demi)

Jove didn't think he had ever waited so tensely for the result of a letter. He had arrived at the gym bright and not quite so early by his internal clock, hesitant and doubtful.

The had never been good at asking his friends for things. Whether it was help with his homework, or he was hungry, or even if he just wanted company, it was hard for him to just speak up. And now that he was doing more fighting practice, with the need for different opponents, it was just as hard to ask them.

So the pup did what he always did when he had trouble with communication, he started to write. And he wrote several letters, very formal and complete, with correct grammar and punctuation, explaining his proposal and whatnot... And each time he tossed them out. Until finally he just got frustrated, and scribbled something down on the paper, folded it up, and shoved it in his pocket.

Later that day when he passed Demi in the hallway, he took a chance, and passed the hound his note before continuing on to his destination. It read: "Gym tomorrow, 9 am?"

This better not be a love note from the pupball.

Melas might have been the first one to think of it as Damien managed to stop in mid step after being offered the paper by Jove and without waiting he was gone. "Wonder what's this about?" he asked in confusion as his ears flopped down in thought over it.
Better yet Alpha, why don't he just say it t'yuh instead?
The message was simple, with as few unnecessary works as possible. Just like Jove in a way.

Tomorrow came, it was 9 am.

And Damien walked into the gym to see a very nervous looking ghost dog. the green eared canine wouldn't have been surprised if he was pacing around..... more like trotting around but close enough.
"You wanted to see me Jove?" was his simple greeting along with a casual wave of his hand to the fellow Knob.

He really hoped this wasn't a kiss lesson in a different environment.

Jove's ears perked as he heard the door open, and then his tail began to wag. He thought the reason they were at the gym was self-evident, and Demi's arrival meant he agreed to battle! He made an excited little growl. If the hound decided to fight in his natural form, Jove might follow his lead, but until then he waited the way he was.

Besides, those hunters had a way of binding him into this form, making him unable to shift. And if he was caught again in his not-so-natural form, he had better have some practice fighting in it!

The pup shrugged out of his jacket, to fight without being encumbered by it's heavy fabric and long tails. He didn't seem bothered by the ruffles near the shirt's neck, or along the cuffs of the sleeves, nor did he pull off his heeled shoes. He had already learned that the latter were good for kicking with!

Well Damien would admit that it was strange to meet the ghost in the gym, normally it was in the library or he would get a faint trace of the pup wandering around the woods that he too loved to explore. He didn't think anything of the location mattering to what Jove wanted to do.

That was until he heard the little excited growl and that tail that begged for funtime. It left the hell hound's head tilted at the boil and his ears flicking in contemplation. "You want to have a match?" he asked slowly to the fellow pup, completely unsure of it himself until he caught sight of the eyes that demanded a challenge. Who was he to deny a fight, it was more practice and they both needed the practice. "Alright, sure why not Let's spar."

He just never expected to see Jove fight in his humanoid form, It was new, it was exciting! OH BOIL! the hounds tail was all aflutter with the change at seeing Jove really fight. "Don't go easy on me, alright pal?" It didn't take long for Demi to shrug off his light jacket and re tighten his greaves in place.

That was actually the next problem that he was mulling over in his head, the chance that he may hurt Jove. That was something that he could never forgive himself. "But Jove.... what if you get hurt?"

Damaging the Foxfire's puffy coat just seemed like.... sacrilege.

Sacrilege was going to be committed, Demi just knew it deep down.

But at least it didn't have to start off like that. "Well then Jove, en guarde!" came the playful reply as he took the more pacifistic route.
With a fanged smirk he ducked under the now shorter boil and sweeped a leg under his feet. "C'mon Jove, let's go, let's go!"

Jove was taken completely off guard as his feet flew out from underneath him, and he landed hard on his back. He would have to remember that move himself, but would he be strong enough to pull it off on someone larger than himself?

The pup might not have had the strength to take even Demi right off his feet, but he was in the perfect position to lash out with a heel, hitting the hound hard on his protected shin.

Sweet Jack, Damien was unsure if Jove was going to be ok, the thump of the poofy student hitting the floor made the hound almost whine in sympathy at the foxfire and just settle in for a nice cuddle session instead.

But to see the smaller student kick his plate, it made him grin in admiration to his fighting spirit. "That'a boy jove, c'mon, give me all you got!" he barked out eagerly and knocked the boil back over again. It was so weird to see suddenly taller human Jove. Him being so near to the floor was just the picture of normalcy.

Jove wasn't doing very well, Demi was overpowering him quite easily. Maybe it was the strategic armor, or Jove's determination to remain in his relatively harmless human form, but it seemed as though he could barely put a dent in his friend. He refused to believe it might be because he had gone into the battle rather banged up, and wouldn't let that become an excuse. Who knew when he might face those hunters again, and what sort of shape he would be in?

With a scowl he rubbed at a sore spot on his left side, and then leaped forward in his best imitation of a bruteball tackle.

There were many things that Damien expected Jove to do. Things like Bark at him, chew at his coat or batting at him with the most fluffiest tail or them all that admittedly, made him jealous of its texture.
However the canines green eyes widened in surprise when the foxfire decided to tackle him to the floor instead. And a solid hit at that. Enough to make him cough out a breathful of air as the duo fell to the floor in a clatter.

There wasn't even a chance to hit back or even brace as the hell-hounds head bumped into the floor, nothing by a cry of alarm and a flash of stars taking over his vision.

Challenge brought.

Jove was startled as they both went down, his ears barely having a chance to flatten back before he was landing with a thud on top of the hound. Unfortunately for him, he was too small and a little bit too weightless to do any damage.

He sat up and blinked rather dumbly down at Demi, one ear perking as though asking "Did... I do that?" He had never actually succeeded in a tackle before! He had the upper hand! Sadly, his little weight on Demi's abdomen wouldn't be enough to keep the hound down, and his idea of a good follow-up was reaching up and pulling one of Demi's ears. Which would be painful, but hardly damaging in the long run.

Clearly Jove needed to learn how to swing a good punch.

it wasn't so much the sudden concussion that got to Demi but the sudden tugging on his ear that made the hell hound yelp at the unnatural treatment. all the wriggling in the world couldn't shake the little student off him. "ow ow ow, I am not a mushroom that you can pluck in the forest!" he barked back and returned the horrible treatment to Jove, on his good ear no less.

leave it to a fellow canine to know the more sensitive areas to pick at.

It didn't take that long for it to go from serious fight, to a couple of pups rolling around and nipping at each other.

Jove yipped and squealed, he couldn't even tug his head back because it only hurt his ear worse! And Demi not only had a firm grip of ear, but some of his long, fluffy hair in his grasp as well, so it hurt something awful!

When he finally managed to pull his ear free, the little wisp snapped fiercely at Demi's arm, sinking long fangs into the flesh. And then to make things worse he shook his head as though going at a toy with vicious abandon.

In all honesty, Damien expected Jove to retaliate to the ear tug, it was a unplesant feeling. But he didn't expect to feel the smaller canines teeth sink into his arm like maula scream cutting butter with a knife.

It brought tears to his eyes as the hell hound flailed to get the n** happy foxfire off him. "ow ow OW! Nipping is not very friendly dude!" No matter how hard he tried to wrench the boil from his arm, Jove just didn't want to let go, and Demi was left whining and pleading at him to get off, his ears flopped over at the painful sensations. "OFF, WOOF WOOF WOOF!"

Jove let go quickly as he heard Demi's protests. It was always a fine line fighting with friends, he wanted those successful attacks, but when the hound yelped in pain the little wisp couldn't bring himself to hold on. If it had been a hunter, perhaps Jove's teeth would have simply sank in deeper... He might have been a little lapdog, but there was enough FEAR in him that he could always get a taste for human blood.
