[1 v 1] What's this? (Hel/West)

[Smerdle]

West was at it again. Finished with the majority of his homework and finding nothing better to do in his room, the wrath demon had decided it was time for the return of the sign. Nothing cured boredom like getting socked in the jaw. It was second only to doing the socking. He tried to look less than desperate as he propped the now ragged piece of cardboard in front of him and took a seat on the ground near the gym.

FIGHT ME

Now all he needed was a challenger.

Today, Hel happened to be on her way back from the grocery store, and her arms were loaded with a ton of grocery bags, in preparation for the of mini dishes she was going to cook for Mot. The reaper hummed happily to herself, and happened to be on a path that took her by the gym. She noted the Wrath demon sitting on the ground, and gave a nod of her head to him in greeting as she passed.

Then she saw the sign.

Hel immediately stopped, almost tipping over the loaded grocery bags in the process. She then backed up, and stared at the sign. She had to be dreaming. Hel stomped on one of her feet with the back of a heel. Ouch. Nope!

Holy Jack.

Hel’s face immediately broke out into a wide grin as she turned to face West now, looking rather menacing (not) with her head barely poking above the grocery bags. “Where have you been my entire time here, thus far!?” She cried out, pleased to see a challenger who actually wanted to fight. “You’re on, friend!” She called to him.

When he heard shuffling footsteps nearby, West looked up from the beetle he had been observing as it skittered across the ground. Crossing in front of him was that split ghoul from Human Studies, the one who had told him to simmah down after he'd shouted at Lattice. He'd seen her around since, but he still didn't know her name, or much about her at all really.

She certainly seemed spirited enough, but so... tiny. Ah, well. It would be better than fighting no one.

He rose to his feet, leaving his sign behind, and grinned back, totally out of a sense of camaraderie and not at all because he thought this entire situation was kind of ridiculous. Not at all.

"Good, c'mon then!" he said, turning on a heel and heading into the gym. Nope, he was not going to help you carry your bags today, thanks.

Hel totally thought that was a grin of camaraderie, and that’s fine that West didn’t want to carry her bags, because she didn’t want him to anyways, ha!

The reaper followed on the Wrath demon’s heels, kicking a door open with a steel plated boot. Once she was inside, she carefully placed her groceries down against a wall, and dusted off her hands. Aw damn, she didn’t have her gauntlet on today…but oh well! At least she had her greaves still. Hel marched further away from the wall, and then stood, poised, ready to battle, holding out a hand and summoning her spear. “Can’t say I’ve had the pleasure being properly introduced to you yet, friend.” The ghoul start, twirling her spear before pointing it at West. “I am Hel.” She grinned still, widely now.

The fact that she didn't complain about his lack of chivalry did not go unnoticed, nor did her giant honkin' spear. Okay then. His smile was suddenly a great deal more genuine.

"West," he replied, gesturing to himself so she wouldn't think he was just spouting off random directions. "Pleasure t'meet ya."  

[Smerdle]

He backed away slightly after his introduction, falling into a defensive crouch. How was he supposed to get around that spear? He supposed he could try... hm. It seemed like a cheap trick, but it was all he had at the moment, at least until he saw how she moved. West looked off over Hel's shoulder, his expression seeming to register that there was someone there he recognized. He then darted forward and gave her an embarrassingly light tap.

Yup, it was the old "who's that behind you" trick.

“The pleasure it all mine, West.” The reaper returned, readying herself for the demon’s attack. Unfortunately, Hel was half blonde, so when the boil had that look of recognition on his face, the ghoul’s head whipped around to see who it was…No one?

The valkyrie swayed a bit as she was lightly tapped.

Oh.

Hel snorted with laughter, and showed what she thought of that trick by quickly whipping her spear around and whacking West with it. The ghoul leapt back then, to put some distance between the two, and flapped her wings, starting to hover. “I’m sure you can better than that!”

It worked! West grinned, at least until he was spear-slapped. Oh, hell no.

Could he do better? Damn right he could.

The demon watched as Hel lifted off of the ground. Hmph. He could whip his wings out if he absolutely needed to, but it seemed to him he'd been relying on the things far too much lately. Instead, he clenched his fist, feeling his FEAR gather there until he could see its angry red glow in his peripheral vision. Would it work? Would it just smack him in the face?

West narrowed his eyes and launched himself forward, jumping into the air when he was close to Hel and lobbing her with a shiny FEAR-powered punch.

"How's'at?" he sneered, wobbling as he dropped to his feet again.

Hel was a bit cautious as well, just a bit, since she had never fought West before, and thus did not know what he was capable of.

Her eyes narrowed as his fist started to glow an angry red, and the next thing she knew she was knocked out of the air by his punch. The reaper skidded across the floor, her spear skittering as it slid away from her. Hel pushed herself up, coughing as she tried to catch her breath and then laughed again, once the surprised look faded. “…Ha! Yes, that is much better.” The ghoul pushed herself to her feet and held out her hand once more, and her spear disappeared before reappearing back in her hand.

She then lunged at West, her spear outstretched, looking to lance him.

West's sneer turned into a grin as he tried to grab at the side of her spear and push it back toward her. It didn't seem to do much damage at all, and would have done him some if he had slipped and grabbed the blade. Hmph. Still, he was very glad this ghoul had been the one to stumble across him and his sign today.

"That's right it is," he muttered. West leaned back, bringing one hand up and bending his index finger at the reaper.

Come at me br-- sis.

Really?

The blunt end of the spear whapped her a bit. Hey! No harming her with her own weapon! A line has just been crossed…except not really.

Hel grinned widely as West taunted her to come at him, and she was trying really hard, really! Maybe she was getting over zealous, because as she lunged at him, sweeping her spear in a wide arc…she missed him. Just barely. Oops.

He swiped at her again when she got close, chuckling to himself when he actually connected.

"Maybe y'should put that thing down," he taunted. "It doesn't seem t'be helpin'."

At least it wasn't a gun.

Hel’s brows furrowed as he landed another hit on her, and she didn’t seem amused at this taunt.

“The only being it isn’t going to be helping is you, friend!” She taunted in return, pulling her spear back and snapping it forward to lance him. The valkyrie was pleased to see it finally connect this time, and her lips twisted into a grin.

Ha! Much better!

Wait, what was he thinking? Worse! Much worse! That hurt!

West clutched his side where the spear struck it, then followed the weapon back toward the ghoul and swiped at her. Too bad it was such a shallow hit. He had little to say this time, instead keeping his eyes open for her next move.

After lancing him, Hel leapt back up into the air, pumping her wings to raise herself quickly. That small swipe from the Wrath demon was nothing compared to what he had been doing, and it didn’t slow her down in the slightest. The reaper (possibly showing off a bit as well), climbed high enough, and did a flip in the air before pointing her spear back down at him and lunging at West from above.

Looked like this one was going to hurt, and her grin promised terrible things.
