[1v1] If You Insist (Yin vs Hel)

Any glimmer of hope that the mantodae had of her leaving him was shattered as they entered the gymnasium together. She wanted this, he reminded himself. He should just take the opportunity and enjoy sparring against someone who knew what they were doing. He moved over to a mostly empty area and turned to face her.

"If this spot is alright with you you may begin?" Lady Hel. He put a closed fist on his open palm and bowed slightly before straightening, not quite slipping into a fighting position but ready to the instant she made a move toward him.

Hel trailed in after the boil happily, and started to crack her knuckles as she grinned.

The reaper looked a bit surprised that he was letting her go first and that he bowed to her. Well…if he insisted. The ghoul’s grin widened as she paused for a moment, and then lunged at him. Since they said this was a spar, she wouldn’t summon her weapon, or use her FEAR. It would be nice to just have an old fashioned hand to hand anyways. A fist shot out, grazing his side and testing out her new opponent.

Lady Hel swung at him and he tried to twist his body away but still her fist still dealt him a glancing blow. Nothing too bad, but enough to remind him that it was a fight, and he needed to keep on his toes.

He slipped into a more comfortable fighting pose, arms up protectively but wrists limp as he studied her for a moment. Quickly he snapped his arm out, hitting her with an open hand rather than a closed fist as he was still somewhat loathe to flat out attack her.

Hel found his movements to be very interesting. She never encountered an opponent who moved like he did though, and she was vigilant to take in his fighting style. She shook off the open handed strike easy enough, and since she was still so close to him, decided to land another strike.

The reaper did not use an open hand, but rather, a closed fist as she pulled it back and then struck at his mid section.

As close as they were Yin could not avoid the punch that she landed, or even deflect it. He stepped back, eyeing her warily but appreciatively. That had hurt. And this ghoul was opportunistic, she would take any opening he gave her and she seemed to know how to find them.

This time he used the same arm hand as before, aiming for her upper arm with another stinging slap. There was no reason to show off all of his tricks now, and if he could lure her into thinking that this was all he could offer she may lower her guard somewhat. Or at least not expect something different.

Hel was grinning once more as Yin stepped back, eyeing her warily. Her fists where up and raised, ready for whatever blow he may try to land.

So she wasn’t exactly expecting a stinging slap to the side of her arm. Why aim there? The valkyrie grit her teeth as she quickly shook her arm out from the stinging sensation, and chuckled a bit. Since the boil as still in close, the ghoul lifted a leg and took another swipe at his midsection with a steel plated boot.

He should have expected her to know how to kick. He should have been waiting for it. But the ghoul moved quickly and the only way to avoid crushing damage was to allow himself to be pushed back by the boot.

Which put him out of range. He moved back in, eyeing closely and making a cautioning swipe, but the ghoul had her defense up and he could not find an opening.

Oh ho, she had him moving back!

The grin stayed on Hel’s lips as she, of course, moved in closer to the boil. She dodged the cautioning swipe, and swung at the arm back with a fist of her own, grazing his wrist. “You are not bad, friend, not bad at all!” The valkyrie complimented, cheerfully.

As the fist grazed his wrist he kept his arm up in a block position but slid forward, listening to the compliment but not focusing on it. This move brought him in close to deliver a punch to her side, knowing that at this range it was impossible to miss.

"I can see that you have been well trained," he replied back, never taking his eyes off of her but rather enjoying the focus of a good fight.

The reaper let out a soft grunt as Yin’s fist connected with her side. “Heh. Why thank you!”

Not one to shy away from such close quarter combat, the ghoul wasted no time in bringing up her knee to nail the boil right in the gut now. It was after that that she gave him a bit of breathing room and leapt back, steadying herself with her wings. Hel paused, waiting to see his next move.

This ghoul...knew what she was doing. She took all the right advantages, and did not waste energy on complicated moves. Sometimes simple truly was best.

He smiled, there was nothing like fighting a good opponent. Probably even a better opponent. Even though he could tell that that last attack had possibly changed the fight he just wanted to know more. What other surprises did she have up her sleeve?

"Show me something else," he said as he straightened up, ignoring the pain that was telling him to curl around his stomach protectively.

Hel’s grin just widened. Show him something else? Okay.

The reaper didn’t hesitate as she lunged back in, this time from a low angle. Here, she feinted an attack to the right, but then pulled her real move. The ghoul brought her left fist shooting up, and nailed the poor boil right in the med-section again.

It was a good feint, and he partially fell for it. Partially because he could not avoid the punishing blow to his midsection.

But also partially because he was able to take advantage of her closeness to grab onto her arm, to try to keep her in place as his right hand fist came up to punch her ribs. His mouth just kept tugging itself upwards...fighting like this where he could just let himself go was wonderful.

Hel realized some retaliation was coming as soon as she was grabbed.

A whoosh of air escaped the reaper’s lungs as she was socked in the ribs, and the ghoul couldn’t help but laugh as well. “Do you know how nice it is to spar against someone who does not hold back because I am a ghoul?” She asked. Hel then yanked her arm back, and if she managed to pull Yin closer towards her, she straight up head butted him.

And just like that reality was back.

Even as her head connected with his he was moving back. What had he been doing? Yes she had wanted the spar, but to just do whatever he could? When he should be worried for her safety?

She said she liked it...but who really knew what ghouls thought. "I...I should not have done so Lady Hel."
