[BATTLE PRP] Breaking the Horse ( Bix v. Tro )

Bix was on patrol. Mostly everyone was being a given a shift in the Haunted House since it had been discovered and so the hunter walked, on alert, with fingers still bandaged and the look of someone who was still healing. He wasn't limping anymore but the yellow end of a bruise shone on his jaw and a thin scab from a healing cut.

The Haunted House bothered him slightly, mostly the unnerving way it shifted and changed. Every room was different though he now stood in the middle of an icy expanse similar to the first room his group had passed through back when they'd first come to the place.

Bix put his foot on the ice and heard it creak, but it held under his weight. He let out a sigh of relief. He'd have to be careful. The fog coming off of the ice was thick and he could barely see the other end of the room.

Rolling a 6: If a student/ hunter misses, they do damage to themselves with the amount they missed for. Ie: if I roll a 1, 1. 2 - 6 = -4, I do 4 damage to myself.

Petro had only heard about the strange encounters that occurred in the Haunted House. He'd been in his room at the time and had been away with Needle during the field trip. But it was about time he got himself caught up or at least experienced the alleged dangers of such a strange building for himself. Except, well, he didn't know how exactly to get there himself.

All leads had turned out to be a dead end and it was frustrating the monster horse. But he was not too frustrated not to notice a door that he was certain had not been there before. Suspicious of its sudden appearance, Petro turned the handle and walked in.

Only to discover biting cold that reminded him of his trip to Christmas Town and creaking ice beneath bare hooves. Tro had immediately shifted into his real form at the change in temperature, knowing he'd be able to deal with the cold better in this form.

Bix heard a door open, a distinctive creak, and even though he couldn't see it the hunter crouched and kept silent. There was a strange noise, a clip clopping sound? Like hooves? He couldn't be sure and the fog was too thick to really see. He was just as likely to hit himself in this as he was an enemy.

There was another cracking sound, weight on the ice. Bix was pretty sure there weren't any others patrolling today. They'd been instructed to fire first and ask questions later. If it was another hunter, they'd be safe with their FEAR sheild.

The albino hunter silently summoned a red arrow into his bow string, scanning the fog to try and pinpoint what could be anything at this point. It was just as likely to be a cat, rat or annoying Boo monster as it was to be a true enemy.

Petro was starting to feel antsy. Too much fog reminded him of the Island. And of those false-reapers that attacked him and his friends. Equine ears twitched, and his tail flicked anxiously behind him. Whether it was due to nerves or his instincts were on the pumpkin seeds telling him to be wary. His silhouette in the fog was hulking, reaching over seven feet even when he tried to keep his weight spread out across the ice.

Brown eyes peered through the dense fog and he could swear there was a figure in the distance. Or was it simply a trick this damned fog playing on him?

Bix's eyes narrowed and he wiggled his fingers, disappointed in the effect of the cold on his fingers. His gloves only helped a little bit and his recent injuries ached but when he saw the hulking form, he became immediately aware that this was no rat or Boo.

So far it didn't seem like the beast saw him. Maybe he could bring it down from a distance, hit and run. Fire and move. The albino hunter aimed carefully and let an arrow fly. He immediately attempted to reload, quick fire as was his specialty, but his aching fingers made it impossible.

His fumbling was audible and he grunted in frustration.

You'd better move snowflake!

Petro felt something sting his arm, a hand immediately cupping the area in question. Except the wound did not bleed blood. What Tro felt seeping out of him was his FEAR. Weapons that drained a Halloweener of FEAR? It was one of the False-Reapers! There was a faint thunk behind him, and he saw lodged in the ice was an arrow.

An arrow?! What was it that his friend told him about the Hunter that had attacked and injured her? It was one who wielded an arrow! Was this the same Hunter? Petro's temper flared and the tikbalang suddenly charged forward, moving quickly enough that the ice beneath him didn't give way despite his massive size. He managed to glimpse a figure holding a bow and with an angry snort from his nostrils, he aimed a punch at the figure in the fog.

Bix whirled when he was charged and struck. It spun the lanky hunter around and he hissed as the horse-person made contact. He tried his best not to slip on the ice and still escape the hit.

He struck out with his bow, using it like a quarter staff in close range. He hit the horse in the face several times and then in the gut before fleeing a safe distance away. He ran back over the ice, hoping that the beast's weight could break the ice and take itself down.

He didn't bother with words or talking. He didn't know this was a student with a grudge. All he knew was that a giant horse beast was attacking him and it was his job to stop it's rampage.

The horse boil grit his teeth at the impact. The fleshie was fast and had struck him several times with that bow of his. By the time the tikbalang managed to regain his bearings, the Hunter had put distance between them. If that was the case, the horse boil raised a hoof and brought it down. Hard. Cracks began to web along the floor until they reached the Hunter and tiny shards of ice shot out from the fissure.

And he took this opportunity to leap forward.

"Ah s**t!" Bix shielded his eyes as ice shards flew upwards from the ground. They stung his already freezing face.

He's coming fast!

"Lay off you big s**t!" Bix grunted but hopped sideways to avoid the spider webbing cracks that now were lacing out over the ice. His plan to take the horse down into the ice hadn't involved the entire room breaking apart. How much time did they have before the floor just gave out and plunged them into the icy water?

Let me goooo... Mina whined as her full charge pulsed within his bow.
Not yet. Let me get some distance first.

He dashed backwards, behind the Tikbalang, and towards the door the monster came through. On that side of the room the ground seemed to be solid stone. When Bix found his feet closer to solid ground he fired on the horse again, hoping to stall him while the cracking ice did it's job.

Was he running away?! In Petro's haste to chase after the retreating Hunter, the supposedly solid ice he stepped on gave way to the sudden influx of FEAR he'd channeled.

Now! Mina hissed in excitement as the horse beast seemed suddenly caught in a trap of his own making.

Bix let his arrows fly but as the ice continued to crack and break, the deadly shower of arrows didn't even hit the monster. Instead they hissed and fizzled into the ice. Of course this didn't help the cracking ground at all, and if anything it made it worse. The continuing cracking ice sprayed into Bix's face, causing him to trip and fall onto his back.

"Goddammit." Bix hurriedly moved again, hoping to get a better angle and further back away from the quickly breaking floor. Just like his previous visit here, certain 'tiles' of ice didn't break and instead remained strong. If the Tikbalang was close he would soon find a distinct path to the other side.

Unlike the Hunters that had fallen into this icy pool, Petro did not emerge on the other side. Instead, a tightly clenched fist burst through the patch of ice just beneath Bix to grab him by the ankle.

Bix was grabbed by the ankle, the monster's icy grip stinging and wrenching his leg. He lashed out with his bow at close range again, stabbing downward into the beast's arm and hand, and again into the water to hopefully hit it in it's stupid horse face.

He could feel the solid hits on the arm and shook his leg, trying to free himself. How much longer would this thing fight?

"Lemme go!"

Petro grit through the pain, the icy water practically numbing him from the Hunter's continuous attacks even though his FEAR continued to be drained. The tikbalang's grip tightened even further on the fleshie's ankle as he tried to pull the Hunter down into the water with him. Over the sound of splashing water and cracking ice, the tikbalang growled, "Y' shouldn't've hurt my friends."

"Your friends... you.. all of you..." Bix continued to beat at the Tikbalang's arm, struggling to get away. "Shouldn't have preyed on humans... ever."

Bix pushed himself backwards with his free foot but he wasn't much against the strength of the larger monster. Instead he aimed for the face, trying to poke the horse in the eyes.

"Moms and dads. Kids and babies. Lurking around.. scaring.. KILLING them." Bix gritted his teeth and his normal detached attitude seemed to shift. Maybe it was the recent stress, maybe it was a build up from events past, either way he was yelling and talking to this beast more than he ever had on any other encounter with any of them.

"I don't care what you say about not killing. I've seen them. Body parts.. blood.. slime.." His mouth was twisted in disgust. "We die for real you know! We don't turn into clouds and reform somewhere else!" He was now trying to kick with the same leg that was being twisted and pulled.
