She’d taken some time away from the trees and the fog. Done some social things, spent time with a boy, cleared some thoughts out of her head, added new ones too it. Ignored the forest and what stress it seemed to give her. It was quite the stressful thing. Maybe it only stressed her because she was trying too hard. Shun had said to take it slow, to not get rushed.

Thinking about that fully had taken some time. Time alone to just clear her head of everything before she even considered going back into the trees. But as time did call on her to do such things, she did return to it, eyes half lidded as she kept her shoes on this time and stepped into the brush. It crunched underneath her feet – they already knew she was there, but she moved on despite that tale-tale warning she’d sent them.

Walking slowly, her ears perked up to listen to the sound of those creatures that roamed the trees with her – she’d never noticed how startlingly quiet they were. She probably needed to use her eyes just as much as her ears in this instance. Careful, Shehk. Careful.

Stalking further into the forest, she dropped down into a crouch, scenting the air carefully, before she crawled forward more, giving the area a curious look around, before she sought out that familiar dim orange glow. Shehk had never considered herself much of a ninja-sneaker, but she certainly felt like one right then as she carefully skirted a patroller to snatch up that first trinket, tucking it away carefully before she moved on to continue her search.

There was another one not too far away, and Shehk continued her low-to-the-ground crawl over towards it as well, giving the area a very slow visual look around when she lost the cover of the trees in order to carefully sneak out to pick it up.

Don’t rush. she told herself. If she moved too quickly, she risked making needless noise.

[Trinkets: 2/15]

With two Trinkets in her possession now, she took a deep breath to steady her nerves. She had all the time in the world. There wasn’t a time limit for this anymore. She could do it if she paced herself. Deep breaths. All of them. With her nerves steadied, she continued her pacing, moving carefully between the trees and between some rocks, peering around them before she spotted another trinket. She reached out for it slowly and carefully, looking around before she pulled it back into her possession and took another deep breath.

Another moment was taken to make sure the coast was clear before she carefully moved over to a large tree nearby, peering around it before she looked towards another small clearing in the trees. There was a trinket there – she could see it even with her less-than-amazing eyesight. She took a few minutes to double-check the area for the patrollers before she stepped out into it to pick it up, then retreated back into hiding.

Slow and steady.

[Trinkets: 4/15 ]

Carefully checking around the ring of trees for anymore trinkets, Shehk found nothing substantial yet, but did see a glint of orange out of the corner of her eye. She perked up a bit as she moved over to pick it up as well, tail held suspiciously low as she looked around and slowly made the approach to it.

[Trinkets: 5/15]

(How about we roll?)

A branch cracked underneath her foot as she stepped out to take the new trinket, wincing and mentally berating herself as a light suddenly turned to look towards her, grimacing ever so slightly as it began to draw closer to her. She’d been heard! A look around told her there wasn’t a guardsman to run into, so she carefully started to make her retreat – towards and diagonal of the light approaching her, if only to pass it sooner.

Her ‘sneak’ past it seemed to work, causing her to sigh with relief. That had worked out well for her, and she tried to not grin as she moved to where the patroller had been previously – that paid off for her, actually, finding a trinket where it had been. Her folly had worked out for her as she took the trinket and moved away from that spot as cautiously as she could. She didn’t want to make anymore unnecessary noise if she could help it.

The patroller came back as she moved to sneak away, however, causing Shehk to wince as it began to make a rattling noise, aware that she was there. She needed to find somewhere to shake it off and take a small break to figure out where she was going next!

Shehk scrambled up on top of one of the larger rocks in the area, perching on it anxiously as she took several deep breaths to still her heart a bit. She needed to take a small break. But as she did, she looked around, noticing the location of a couple more of the trinkets as they glowed dimly away from her. Good. She could get those! She liked that. She took another deep breath before she dropped down to go get the trinket that was closest to her current location.

After that, she moved to go find the one that hadn’t been too far away from that one either, stepping slowly and making sure to take lots of looks around as she moved – or rather, pausing to look around as she moved. She couldn’t be alert and in motion at the same time when any step could betray her if she wasn’t paying attention to it.

[Trinkets: 8/15]

From the location of that Trinket, she could barely see an orange glow off in the distance from where she was. She was doing alright so far, but she still held herself rather low as she moved to approach the new trinket, almost on hands and knees when she took it up on hand, sighing with relief.

A light flashed past her side and she nearly had a heart attack, however, trying to not stumble and make more noise than she already had as she pulled herself up to her feet to move away from the area.

Unfortunately, she made enough noise for the patroller to turn and look back at her. She nearly swore out loud for that twist of fate, grimacing a bit.
