Not long after their meet-up with two of the members of their horse trial team, Alexander found himself growing a little restless himself. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy being confined with his boilfriend for the last few days, but it was getting a little ridiculous. Alex was a more social being then Yin, used to being around others, around large groups, and not with just being alone, or at least, close to it, for extended periods of time. And so, it had actually been his own suggestion that they hit the gym and start on this new regime of battle training that Yin had mentioned.
Though he had wanted to leave the room, it still wasn't exactly easy. His paranoia, while it had subsided somewhat, still niggled at the back of his mind, making him more cautious, making his eyes dart around the hallways for any type of danger that might lurk (though for the most part, all he spotted were disgruntled gnomes). He had decided that they should first possibly go to his own room to check on his pets, since he had been neglecting doing so since awakening from the death trial nightmare.
After that long, tedious, and mostly uneventful trip was completed, it was time to head to the gym.
Alexander wasn't really sure what to expect, as he shuffled in to the gymnasium with Yin at his side. Being here brought back flashes of memory, from past hands on training with Yin, to just watching Yin train, to assemblies and finally, whatever had occurred with the school's secretary and that horsemen near the end of their dream. Not all of these memories were unpleasant, but a couple of them were enough to make Alex want to turn around and leave.
But no, he couldn't do that. He needed this. They both needed this.
Not waiting for Yin's lead, Alex made his way over to a sparring area, removing his hands from his pockets and reaching up to loosen his tie and slip it off over his head, tossing it to one side, then turned to face Yin, his eyes steely and grim. He was determined not to hurt Yin this time...well, at least not in the way he had during their last "spar", but he still couldn't guarantee he'd be able to stay in control. "Are you ready?" He asked, and then, "Are you sure you want to do this?" There was still time to back out, after all. Alex really really did not want to hurt Yin.

Checking up on pets made sense to Yin, and when they reached the Undead dormitory he himself going down to his room with him without being asked...or asking to stay outside on his own. It might have seemed a bit ridiculous but who knew what could have been lurking in the zomboil's room all this time?
But being back in the gymnasium brought Yin a degree of comfort. Memories of hours spent here. Training. Always training. Bad memories? Sure, he had those as well. But there were other things to focus on, and he was simply excited to have returned to the gym.
And it was somewhat refreshing to see Alexander so gung-ho about it as well. He was more serious than Yin had expected, and actually removing his tie, but that meant that he should be focusing. Yin did a few quick stretches as he did that, eyes trained on him. He slipped into a fighting position, eyes locking on the zomboil's and nodded. "Whenever you are ready." Let the games begin.

((WELP, at least he didn't miss?))
Alex wasn't sure if he'd ever be ready. This was not something he was going to enjoy doing, but he knew it was necessary. Giving Yin a sad look and a small grimace, he got his body into position, attempting to mimic the other boil. If worse came to worse, he could always revert back to his more brutish and clumsy fighting style later. Not that this wasn't going to be clumsy as well, of course. Clumsy and Alex just went hand in hand.
As if to demonstrate this, Alex started out with a weak punch, aiming for what little opening he could find. He was so scared that he might hurt the other boil again, he put very little effort into making the hit at all powerful.

Yin watched his bonded carefully, noting the attempt at a fighting pose, and that it actually was not that bad of an attempt. This was something that he at least had looked forward to. Training Alexander more meant less worrying about him. If the zomboil beat him it meant that he would be less stressed in the future about his safety. If he beat Alexander it meant that he would probably agree to more training. Win/Win situation.
The punch hit, but with little force behind it and Yin moved in past the zomboil's defenses, giving him a light whack with the back of his hand to the zombie's unguarded stomach. "I know you have more in you than that. This spar is to determine what strengths and weaknesses you have. What needs to be worked on. If you do not give it your best than it will make my task more difficult in the long run."
In other words? Come at me bro.

Alex was moving far to slowly to move back and guard himself before Yin was giving him a light slap on the stomach with the back of his hand. It hadn't hurt, but was more a reminder of what he needed to be paying attention to. He took a step back, away from that light and almost condescending hit, and recomposed himself, listening to Yin's words.
"Okay," He nodded, his face a blank mask, his eyes serious as he tried to focus, tried to concentrate, and tried to ignore the fact that this was Yin he was sparring against. If he tried pretending it was somebody else...maybe then he could succeed.
But who wouldn't he mind hitting? He didn't really have any enemies...Well, no, that wasn't exactly true. There was that little imp, TG. Even just thinking about the tiny menace gave Alex a small flash of irritation, and he quickly acted on it, before he could stop himself, throwing another punch towards Yin that actually held some power behind it.

Yin caught the fist. With his upper arm. And it actually hurt. It was surprising really, but the look he gave Alexander was one of admiration and possibly a bit of adoration. A bit odd to be using in battle really. This, this was what he wanted. Others might think that it was a bit...peculiar...to think that way, that no one should enjoy that sort of pain. But to him it was normal, it was a spar. It was proof that his bonded was strong and powerful.
"Whatever you did, continue doing it," he said rather cheerfully as he all but bounced before bringing his fist up to jab at the zomboil, brushing past him without actually landing a hit.
Which actually made him even happier in some rather peculiar way. The weremantis had quite possibly been cooped up in his room too long.

Alexander moved back after his punch hit, somehow managing to lean away from the jab that Yin threw in return. It was as shocking for him as it was...amusing to Yin? Wait what? Why was Yin smiling like that?
"I uh..ya okay..sure.." He stammered, unsure as to why Yin looked like that. Obviously the zomboil needed to learn the difference between amused and pleased.
His composure thrown off, and the mental imagery he had been using to help him fight against somebody he didn't want to fight completely evaporating, Alex made a an incredibly clumsy attempt to hit Yin a third time, and failed miserably.

It was rather disappointing when Alexander's next attempt completely missed. Perhaps he did not feel that Yin was taking this seriously. But he should not show that he was disappointed. No, just show Alexander this was not a joke, that would go over better...right?
So Yin moved in to attack again, claws snaking out toward the zomboil. But at the last second he changed his mind, not wanting to cut up his boilfriend, so he punched him instead. What an improvement! His upper arm still throbbed a bit, but oddly enough he was rather enjoying the pain. Enjoying that his Alexander was that strong.

Well, Yin had managed to prove that this fight was one to be taken seriously and not a joke. So perhaps Alex had misread the situation a little, though that smile was a little eerie. What was he smiling about?
He was so wrapped up in these thoughts that he saw those claws coming at him a little too late, and suddenly reached up with both hands, trying to shove the weremantis back before he could slice Alex's one somewhat nice shirt up into ribbons. The result was that when Yin punched him, it ended up straight at his open hands, like he had actually come up with some kind of block and not just some 'ahhh get away' move like it really was.
The punch was hard, hard enough to jar Alex's arms and make him grimace as the shock wave passed through them. Pulling them back in towards his stomach to cradle them out of instinct, Alex did something horribly childish at that point, his face set into a somewhat sullen look as he lifted his non-skeletal foot to stomp down on top of one of Yin's.
Take that, meany-head.

"Excellent," he all but purred, his feline features face twisting into a new grin flashing his razor sharp teeth. "I see you did remember that there are other things to consider than hands during a fight. Did you remember the other thing that I tried to teach you?"
He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in, not sure if Alexander would remember or not as his foot moved quickly and his hands shot out, knocking the other boil off balance as his foot hooked around his ankle. "Did you remember how to fall?" He said it almost sweetly, almost innocently. But the cheshire grin on his face might have been slightly aggravating.

What..why was he purring, what was even...was this some kind of tactic to throw Alex completely off of his guard? If so...it was working! It was working very very well! The zomboil didn't know how to react, didn't have time to react, before Yin was speaking, throwing out his hands to shove Alex back while simultaneously hooking a foot behind Alex's ankle and pulling it out from underneath him.
The zomboil had just the barest flash of memory of the last time Yin had done this too him, and how feral and savage his own reaction had been afterwards. He couldn't let that happen this time, though, so he just closed his eyes tight, and waited for the impact.
And then he laid there, stone still, not moving, not breathing, not opening his eyes.
Way to go Yin, you broke him.

Yin looked down at his bonded, looking slightly confused. He knew him, knew that that fall would not have hurt him that badly though his gaze did flicker to his neck just to make sure there was no undead blood oozing forth. So if he went with his best guess...the zombie was playing dead (har har).
Which was an interesting tactic really. But not one that Yin was planning on teaching today. Well, if Alexander insisted on staying down there he supposed he would have to join him. He somehow managed to almost gracefully drop to the floor next to him, in one smooth motion twisting to lean over the other boil to pin his shoulders down. "Ready to move on to pins so soon?"

Alex laid there for a time, not really knowing or caring what Yin might be doing. Possibly the other boil was just standing there, still grinning with those sharpened teeth of his showing. Maybe he had walked away in disgust of his boilfriend who wouldn't even open his eyes or move or do anything to progress this battle.
And so, when he felt hands pressing down into his shoulders, somewhat painfully after that hard fall to the floor, his eyes opened, and he stared up into the face of his tormentor bonded.
And he still looked so happy! How was Alex supposed to stay mad at that face??
"Sure." He replied, and would have shrugged, if he had been able to move.
Let the weremantis do his worst. Alex could be a punching bag or a dummy, right? Or did Yin fully expect him to participate and willingly attempt to do the other boil harm...

Yin was no longer feeling entirely happy about the situation. He had just wanted a nice spar with his boilfriend, some nice physical bonding. The type that could only happen when two men exchanged blows and came out exhausted and grinning. But Alexander did not seem to wish to play along with him.
He put his weight behind this particular pin, pressing down on the zomboil. "We both know you have the strength to overpower me," he pointed out honestly. "This is not pleasurable for me if you just lie there and take it without attempting to gain the upper hand."
Oh Yin, if only you knew what you sounded like.

Alex stared up at the other boil, confused. It was more pleasurable for him if Alex fought back? Is that why he had looked so happy? It was true that now that the zomboil was refusing to do anything more then just take sound beating, Yin didn't seem nearly as enthused as he had earlier. When Alex had actually fought back, and had actually hurt the other boil...well, that's when he had looked oddly happy.
Well, if that's what Yin really wanted....
Alex smiled up at him, just a small smile, and somehow grim, as though to show that he understood but didn't have to like it yet. Then, he proved that he could, indeed, over power Yin if he chose too, as he pushed himself off of the ground, fighting against the pressure in his shoulders, and raised an arm to drive a bony elbow towards Yin's chest.
Oh..were they supposed to be doing pins right now? Alex must have forgotten.
