Professor Malcolm

PostPosted: Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:52 am
Over the course of the students' field trip to the Isle of the Horsemen, Malcolm had been rather busy with his personal projects - namely, minipet breeding. Ever since they first discovered the special pink mushroom and it's use, he had been experimenting with inter-species breeding, especially between Scareons and Foxfires, as they were surprisingly compatible.

With the students back, and news of the destruction of the Horsemen's home spreading like wild fire, however, Malcolm had simply been too busy to keep up with the minipets' feeding. While he had left the relatively simple task to some of the more reliable gnomes, they had also recently gotten busy with work... Which was why the students would find themselves being ushered through a portal in Classroom 13, and into a large outdoor area.

"It's feeding time right now," He explained, giving each student two buckets of Fear Candy and a pair of green rubber boots, "You might want to wear this, or you will probably end up stepping on something... Undesirable. What you need to do, is to travel to one area of the Minipet Grounds, and successfully fill in the different feeding bowls in the area. It might sound easy, but most minipets have rather sensitive noses... They will come running to you, and they will try to stop you from reaching the designated area, so keep that in mind!"

Exam Mechanics
-> You start off with 30 Fear Candy!
-> You need to fill at least 3 Food Bowls before you reach 0 Fear Candy to pass!
-> Once you reach 0 Fear Candy, you must return to Professor Malcolm, who is waiting at the Portal.
-> If you hit 3 Food Bowls before reaching 0 Fear Candy, you can choose to run into another student (who is not done) and pass your remaining Candy over before returning.
-> You cannot go over the starting amount of Fear Candy - 30 - though!

Picking an Area: 1d4
ICly, imagine a square piece of land divided equally into four areas; you arr currently standing in the middle!
1 : Grassland (Grass/Ground minipets, like 'Slime n snails' or Natural Scareon)
2 : Volcano (Firelands minipets)
3 : Lake (Water & Some Ground minipets)
4 : Mountainous Region (A lot of Pygmy Dragons & Carry Ons)

Filling in the Food Bowls: 1d12
1 : You got attacked by a group of hungry minipets and left some Candy to get away! (-10 Candy)
2 -3 : You found a Food Bowl and quickly filled it up. (-5 Candy +1 Bowl)
4 : A minipet somehow sneaked up on you and stole some Candy! (-5 Candy)
5 : You got attacked by a hungry minipet and dropped some Candy! (-5 Candy)
6 - 8 : You found a Food Bowl and quickly filled it up. (-5 Candy +1 Bowl)
9 : You found a Food Bowl, but was attacked by a minipet before you could fill it in, leading to wastage. (-10 Candy +1 Bowl)
10 : You found a Food Bowl and quickly filled it up. (-5 Candy +1 Bowl)
11 - 12 : You fell over, and spilled some Candy... (-5 Candy)

Exams exams exams exams exams exams! A bundles of nerves, joy, and anticipation called Genevieve the Doppelganger was hurdling her way down the halls, dressed rather plainly in a flannel shirt and jeans in anticipation of the reputation her exam giver had. They'd obviously be working with minipets, since it was Professor Malcolm - the school's resident specialist on all things mini and pet - who would be giving the exam today. She reached the classroom, greeted the professor, and soon found herself with green boots and buckets of Fear Candy.

"I'll take the mountains! Wish me luck~" She gave a wave to her professor and left, hoping to come back with as least injuries as possible.

At first when Pepin was called forth for her exam she had expected it to be filled to the brim with students. Only one other had showed up thusfar and she didn't even recognize them. Pepin looked prepared for what she assumed would be a paper exam, therefore wearing a nervous frown and clenching a pencil ready to snap. However when Malcolm, whom she had already taken a class with and rather enjoyed looking at, showed up she seemed to perk up, dropping her pencil at the mention of 'feeding time.' While other students may feel a little jilted by this actvitiy as their EXAM, Pepin was already shuddering with excitement. Biting her lip she took the boots and slipped them on, squeaking them together.

Saluting Malcolm, she clung to the basket of Fear Candy and danced her way to one of the feeding grounds.

The grassland full of scareon and snails seemed cheery enough. The brown and curly blades of grass would've felt wonderful between her digital toes but her idea of 'things you dont want to step in' were magnets. Surely there were magnets hanging out all over that field so it was time to be careful lest she step on the worst landmine of anti-Pepin ever to exist.

Scouring the grassland diligently, Pepin was lucky enough to find one of the first food baskets almost immediately. Floating (and by this more like skipping with low gravity) towards it she emptied out a few pieces of candy before frantically looking around for minis. Should any beastly little scareon come and try to ******** up her exam she would squeeze it and hug it and stuff it down her shirt and try to sneak it home with her.

Proud and confident as she was, skipping through the grassland so carelessly was not a good idea as Pepin got her foot caught by an old, uprooted stump.

"Gyaa!" Pepin tripped and fell face first into a heaping pile of wet

mud and giggled nervously. It was embarrassing but wasn't that big of a deal for the ghost as she pushed herself up and shook off some of the mud. She didn't notice that she had spilled some candy along the way and when picking herself back up continued on her search without checking her current stock.

Hopefully, nobody had seen the fall.

Alas, despite her embarassing blunder, Pepin had caught sight of another feeding dock. Squealing she darted over, bouncing until a Scareon had showed up with its tail flicking threateningly.

"HI. HI. WHOS A GOOD MINIMON HMM?" she baby-talked the thing while she attempted to fill the bin. The creature was not amused, mistaking her for a wild missing- no, not that, a wild minimon and started to attack.

Wild Scareon used bite!

Pepin flinched! Pepin dropped 5 extra pieces of candy!

Pepin fled!

"That w-w-w-w-as a close one," Pepin sighed scratchily and looked in her basket. She only had 10 rare fear candies left. Pouting, she looked around. There was no way that she could cheat and make there actually be x99 more of the mini-chow... especially if the attractive minipet teacher was looking.

Time was running out. Pepin checked her start menu and noticed there were 45 steps left before her time in the grassland zone was out! She hadn't even made it to the warden's house to get that hidden machine she needed to progress into a snot.

This was her last chance she had to be careful about where she stepped and how fast she walked. No need to run, that would only hinder her chances.

Carefully and calculatively she examined the remaining uncovered area and squinted. Lo and behold, there beyond the corner she could see the corner of another feeding troph. She had this in the BAG! Slowly she approached and remained as quiet as she could despite the imminent victory at hand. With ten candies left there was no way she could mess this up. Hopefully this version of the exam excluded any stampeding minis...

almost there...

Throwing her two fists in the air after placing the candies she exclaimed loudly, "I HAVE DELIVERED THE GOLDEN TEETH." Whatever the Jacking hell that meant. Smirking she stood with a hand on her hip and grabbed the remaining 5 candies. Somebody might need these!

Gene was actually quite grateful for the boots Malcolm had provided - even if they were a total faux pas when it came to footwear fashion - as she once again heard a disgusting little squelch and an unpleasant stench found its way into her nostrils. Navigating the mountain without stepping in any "land mines" was quite the treacherous, and pretty much impossible, feat.

She pressed on, however, determined to fill the feeding basins to the best of her ability. She was going to be a knob, and minis poop was not going to stop her.

A crazed Carry On, though, was a different story. It dived at her, pecking wildly at her head and squawking like a fat woman that just found out her cheesecake is sugar free. She dropped some of her candy as she fled, seeking refuge in a small nook from the fat woman Carry On.

Once the ghoul was sure her assailant had gone away - it probably found the dropped candies and satisfied itself - she crawled out of the natural nook and wiped her brow, releasing an unnecessary breath she had been holding. Another squelch rang through the air as she trekked forward, pretty much telling the world that Genevieve the Doppelganger was a poop magnet.

She saw little eyes surrounding her, glaring greedily at the two buckets in hand. She also saw a feeding basin, dead ahead. She sprinted, threw a handful of candies in, and found another little cave to hide in while she pondered why not all minis were sweet like Gideon.

Unfortunately for our poor little Doppelganger, the cave she had chosen belonged to a family of rather grumpy pygmy dragons, all of whom had a penchant for breathing fire at anything that moved. Yelping and holding a scorched bum (she'd need to buy a new pair of jeans now - these were the only pair she had and Bloodbucks required her to wear jeans), she booked it out of the cave, spilling candy as she went.

The dragons continued to chase, and Gene continued to run, and both parties fell into a feeding basin. More candy was spilled, and the ghoul figured that it counted as filling the bin, which also distracted the dragons as the gorged themselves. Hurriedly, she scrambled up the basin and ran to higher ground to look for the next basin, as well as her next attacker.

Apparently the fat lady Carry On really did have the appetite of a fat lady, and was ready for seconds. It ambushed Gene, pecking and biting and squawking and raking, which caused the ghoul to run faster than she'd ever run before. There was, however, one tiny problem; she was running down a mountain side, covered in loose rocks, stumps of dead trees, and dozens of crags to trip on. Trip she did, toes were stubbed, and more poop was stepped on with enough force to cause some of it to fly into the ghoul's face. The Carry On pursued on the wind, avoiding any and all obstacles and continuing its attack on the gal. Finally, in a moment of desperation, the Doppelganger threw both buckets of candy, and leaped to safety.

Safety apparently meant a crumpled heap on the ground, moaning and whining.

She eventually picked herself up, poop flecks, grass stains, mud, blood, and all, and marched over to Malcolm, calmly handed him his boots, and gave him a very unpleased face. "Sir, with all due respect, screw your pets." She took a seat in the grass next to the portal, not sure if she could leave yet.

Deacon wasn't disgruntled to have to take his exam at a reasonably early hour, but he certainly hadn't looked pleased at the idea of a portal in the classroom. He had hesitated before finally gathering the courage to step through. Portals seemed like bad news more often than not, especially recently. Although, when he managed to arrive outside and in presumably not hostile territory he let himself relax a little.

As Professor Malcolm explained their exam, Deacon smirked. It did sound easy. Feeding minipets shouldn't be hard at all, he did it all the time. Well, when he felt like it anyway. At least two or three times a week.

He frowned at the boots, though. He didn't usually wear shoes, but the idea of stepping in excrement was enough to urge him to pull the boots on shortly after the Professor had provided them with the suggestion. Having something like that between his toes was a do not want all the way.

Picking up his two buckets as the first two students hurried off to the task, Deacon padded off away from the waiting Professor.

This exam was surely in the bag.
