[1v1] Earn Some Respect (Mei x Shaheen)

It had honestly been quite a while since the last time Mei had been to the gymnasium. So much had been going on and she had been keeping herself as busy as she could her actual gym time had suffered.

Not like she didn't practice while doing other things. Multitasking was an awesome thing.

But today she wasn't here to work on her agility. She was still getting a feel for her slight up in power after moving on to year two.

Today though, today was different. She had awoken feeling sick. Something just...wasn't right. Out of place and the whispers at her ear seemed louder. It felt as if her whole being was vibrating and this unexplained anger filled her to her core.

She had been trying to work off this aggression with a practice dummy. But it just didn't feel like she was making any progress. Leaning against a padded wall, she clutched at her choker. It was almost too much to keep herself standing.

Shaheen had heard of this place. A place in the school where students went to practice, train, and fight battles with one another. It had piqued her curiosity enough that when she had found a spare moment, she decided to go and have a look at it for herself. She really had no interest in using these grounds to train for herself, but it would be nice to know what kind of facilities the school allowed for their students, especially since Medea had allowed several to become initiates.

So she found herself entering this so called 'gymnasium', and speaking of initiates, was that young girl over their leaning against a wall not the one who she had sat next to in the coliseum? She cocked her head to the side to study the girl. Yes, it was definitely the girl with the smart mouth that thought she was so damn clever. Ah yes, Shaheen smirked to herself as she sauntered towards her, eyeing her up and down.

"Hello again. Mei, was it? You do not look so well, young one." Her eyes landed on the choker. Was that a glimmer of a crystal fragment she could see? Ah, yes, that perhaps made some sense then.

"Perhaps you would like a friendly spar, or call it a training exercise if you like." She shrugged a little nonchalantly. "If you are to be among us I'd be more inclined to try and make you into a warrior worthy of the name..unless you prefer to be called 'pet'." Her smirk turned more into something more. A flash of teeth combined with an unfriendly look in her eyes. Goading the girl a little, yes, but only to try and force an attack out of her.

The voice was unexpected. Mei hadn't really thought the Horsemen would come to the gymnasium. Sure they had pretty much free reign to go where they wanted now. But why would they want to come here? As far as she knew they kept their fighting to the reserve and lair.

Dark eyes looked up at the very tall Horsewoman. That word again. She hated being called that. All she had wanted to do was help the Horsemen and all she got in return was called names or treated badly. There were very few Horsemen she'd actually come across that seemed at least somewhat willing to be civil. They way they talked to her though made her feel like a scareling. Like nothing more than dirt on the bottom of their boot.

Anger burned and tingled at the base of her skull as she pushed herself away from the wall. "You'd be right in the assumption that I am not feeling too well." Brushing back some hair behind her ears, she eyed the Horsewoman for a moment. Their last encounter hadn't been entirely pleasant so it surprised her that she was wanting any interaction.

Even still part of her still would see her choices through. She wouldn't give up on the path in which she had started on. "A friendly spar.....fine. But if I win you can't call me pet anymore."

"Fine." Was the horsewoman's only reply combined with a lazy shrug. There were worse things then being called a pet, in Shaheen's opinion, and whether or not she stopped, she highly doubted the other horsemens opinions would change.

And just like that the mood changed. This was a battle now, not a time for idle chatter. The girl likely had too much pent up fear in her crystal and needed a means for dispersing it a bit, if she would choose to. Shaheen was willing to provide those means.

Her expression didn't change except to maybe become more feral in nature. No weapon was summoned yet as the chieftain spun her body round, snapping one long and darkly tanned leg up in a kick directed at the girls face, her wings slightly spread to lift her momentarily off of the ground in this one lithe and graceful movement.

In all honesty, Mei knew the Horsewoman would probably kick her butt. She was a lot older and a lot more skilled in fighting. Probably more so than any one else from another clan. She knew little about the War clan, but did know that they were skilled fighters none the less and lived for this kind of thing.

Fighting was most certainly not her specialty. But everyone needed to know how to fight. Whether good at it or not. It was for survival.

As Shaheen's foot connected with her face Mei's head snapped back. The Horsewoman was strong and agile. Such as to be expected. Her eyes narrowed slightly as the fragment at her throat glowed.

Using the momentum of her head going back she flipped her body backwards, bringing her own foot up at the Horsewoman's face. Pushing herself up a bit so that she would reach her once Shaheen began to come back to the ground before completing her back flip, landing on all fours. Propping herself up off the ground with one hand as her feet spread wide to support her landing.

The girl was quite agile. That was an interesting and pleasant surprise. After the return kick she received to the face, her smirk spread, looking much more akin to a smile now.

Still, she wasn't exactly in this to win it. This was more of a test to Shaheen, gauging the students strength against her own. If that first hit was any indicator, however, she thought she might find herself quite pleased.

She wasted no time in springing forward, throwing herself down close to the ground at the last second to swipe a foot out towards Mei's ankle this time to try and knock her to the floor. Mostly she just wanted to see how the student would counter the attack.

The more and more she fought, the more Mei was actually enjoying it. Not in a plesant kind of enjoyment. This feeling was odd. Thoughts of watching the Horsewoman bleed plauged her mind as it drove her on.

For a second she was taken aback. Her vision was now filled with swirling colors of green and orange. The image of Shaheen that she knew was distorted. Her colors blending and fading to merely two colors threw her off. What was....what was happening?

She shook her head to clear the vision, but in that moment of confusion Shaheen had closed the space between them. A swift foot came at Mei but she didn't react fast enough. "Oof." Luckily for her she hadn't been that far off the ground or else that fall would probably have hurt worse. Though her ankle did throb a bit.

Laying there on the mat, it felt as if time began to slow. Everything around her was swirling and twisting this way and that. Just stop.

Placing one hand down on the mat, then another, Mei pushed herself up slowly. Her arms shaking as if to give way and threaten to lay her flat on the ground again. Lifting her legs she put her toes to the mat and slowly lifted herself up off the ground. A horrible expression was on her face now. Something very unnatural for her.

She lunged forward and raked her nails at Shaheen. Anything. Any kind of hit or scratch or bruise. Any kind of mark she could make. Any kind of damage and pain she could cause the Horsewoman would satisfy her right now.

Shaheen had swiftly pushed herself back up from the floor, but kept her body held low, legs spread, arms held out and at the ready. She didn't really know what to expect of the girl, whether she had been trained in battle teqniques or not. And so, just a casual battle stance. Poised for whatever might come next.

She studied the look in the girls eyes when she rose, and recognized the signs. Blood lust and hunger and rage. Those were feelings Shaheen knew all too well. The question now was what Mei was going to do with it.

The horsewoman laughed when the child threw herself forward using nails as her weapon. It was apparently to be a cat fight, then! She brought up arms to shield her face, taking the scratches, the small pain barely enough to even show up on her radar.

"If you are going to hit me, little pet, then hit me!" She hissed out from clenched teeth, dagger appearing in hand just before she pushed forward, uncrossing her arms and slashing out at Mei with the blade. Mei wanted blood? She could have her own.

She hated how weak she felt when her blows were barely strong enough to make an impact on her opponents. It never seemed like her efforts were enough. Sometimes she did good, other times everything seemed to fall flat. The power she had and the power that the fragment gave her just wasn't enough.

The feel old cold metal tearing at her clothes and skin brought back memories. Bad memories. Very recent ones in fact. She clutched her side instinctively, like a child flinching at the threat of an open hand slap. Stumbling back, the rage began to slip away bit by bit. As if it were flowing out of the slashes Shaheen had left.

Placing a fist in her palm, she jabbed her elbow forward.

The sound of tearing cloth and the give of flesh as it was torn through, or rather sliced, by her blade. There was hardly anything sweeter to the war chieftain who thrived off of battle and bloodshed. The elbow that Mei directed back at her hit her in the chest, which really again only hurt a very little (especially with all that padding >>).

She countered the light blow with another slash of her dagger. She had caught Mei's initial reaction to her first blow and found it rather amusing. "Do not cower." She urged, "You must attack fast and strong. Throw me off guard."

She was starting to wonder if she had been wrong about the students. She had told Shik that they were strong and here she was beating Mei down with little effort.

It was hard not to replay the memories of her fight with that one Hunter. How her blade had pierced her side. It was probably one of the worst injuries that she had ever encountered so far.

Throwing her arms up in front of her face, she blocked the slashes with her forearms. But still the blade cut at her sleeves and skin. Blood would have been flowing down her arms by now if she had any that actually flowed through her Undead veins.

Don't hold back. Her mind had begun to become clearer now. The rage was still there but it didn't feel so overwhelming as it once had before. It felt as if a weight was beginning to lift off of her shoulders little by little.

Clenching her teeth, she gave a series of kicks at different parts of the Horsewoman's body. Until finally she spun around, her leg whipping through the air to bring her heel in hard at Shaheen's side.

The ghoul was throwing her all into it now, and Shaheens toothy smirk widened yet more as each blow struck, sending short bursts of pain coursing through her body. That was more like it! That's what really got Shaheens blood pumping. That's what got her fear burning, just itching to be used in retaliation. It was practically instinctual.

And so, she concentrated her fear, and let it flow through her drawing from her crystal as well, imbuing it into her dagger. The war chieftain let loose a loud and powerful battle cry, raising her dagger high before driving it down, thrusting it towards the girl she faced.

She only had a split second to think. Oh, ooops, I wasn't going to do that before the blow struck home.

Oh well, she was pretty sure that Mei would survive.

The next attack from the Horsewoman was a strong one. Stronger than the ones before. She was surprised that she had been holding back using her FEAR power honestly. But striking an opponent when they were weak was generally how it was done.

Again the blade sliced at her. Mei clutched her arm and took a few steps back. Her arm tingled and burned. Pain ripping up and down from finger tips to shoulder. How she wished she had her own dagger.

Well two could play at that game.

Focusing on her own FEAR, a green glow began to form around the edges of her body's outline. Creeping slowly against the surface of her skin as it headed vertically up her body. Opening her mouth lightly, the glow began to filter into her mouth. Gathering in mass until she snapped her mouth shut and swallowed.

It felt as if Shaheen's attack had done nothing at all now.

Shaheen had backed away a few paces after delivering the powerful blow from her dagger. She desummoned it, leaving her hands empty. Her breathing may have come out slightly heavier then before, but that was mostly due to excitement and less to do with physical exertion.

She took a moment to let herself calm down, and to remind herself that she wasn't here just to beat the small ghoul or even to prove some kind of point. She just wanted to test her, to prod her here and there and gauge her strengths and weaknesses. It was easy for her to get too caught up in the action, and she mentally chastised herself.

And then the girl was doing something rather interesting, and Shaheen took another moment just to stop and watch.

Hrrrrrmmmm, very interesting indeed. Her smirk slipped away, her mood shifting as quickly as the tide. It was time to take this little venture a touch more seriously. Shaheen summoned her dagger again, this time throwing it at the girl almost lazily, watching it barely graze past before it appeared in her own hand once again. She then waggled her blade a little in gesture, one that might have meant, 'Bring it'.

The light cut against her cheek from the dagger hurled at her was slightly surprising. Was this Horsewoman playing with her or something? That had certainly been an attack below what she had dealt out previously.

She watched the dagger waggle in Shaheen's hands. Weary of it's sharp blade but that wasn't going to deter her.

Crouching low, she pushed herself off into a short sprint. As soon as she get in close she faked left, leaning in hard with her shoulder. Hoping it connected.
