[1v1] Purely Physical (Gene and Yin)

Yin was not really looking for a fight. He just needed to get back on his feet and work himself back to a place where he was fit and at his peak. So spars were definitely of interest for the boil. One could only get so far training alone after all. Still, there were traces of paranoia firmly implanted in him now, ones he tried to ignore because he could not avoid the hunters either way, so he might as well do as he pleased, but the thoughts still haunted him. Therefore finding someone he knew for a spar was infinitely better.

Or, you know, the random ghost ghoul that he had met once upon a time in what felt like a land far, far away but was really only the auditorium. He searched his brain for her name, failed, and approached her regardless. "Excuse me. Miss? Would you like to spar with me?" They were in the gymnasium after all, maybe she was willing to get physical with a boil that she really did not know in the name of training. Yin knew he would.

This is why I shouldn't start threads. AT LEAST THE OPENING IS OUT OF THE WAY.

Gene was in need of some form of physical exertion; she'd been skipping out on strength training. She wasn't a fighter, but it was always good to be ready for another Hunter Invasion...or a sudden Horsemen uprising. Even some crazy DETH protesters could tun violent.

So, she was in the gym, leading to an encounter with a certain mantis boil she recognized. Where was he from?

Oh, right, the school play.

And she'd totally patronized him.

Gene's face was the shade of blueberries now. "Ah, sure, I'd love to. Have we met?"

Because no she was not bringing up the fact that she had treated him like a lost, lonely, and slightly retarded puppy when they first met.

The ghoul's face seemed to be turning blue, which was somewhat distressing. What if she was getting ill? But she was talking to him, and she would not be talking if it was dire. Nor would she be agreeing to a battle. He had completely forgotten being patronized, he was used to it from females.

He bowed slightly, surely that sign of respect would not make her feel any worse, and reintroduced himself. "Yǐn Cáng, though many here call me Yin if that is too difficult to pronounce."

He wanted to remind her why they were there, so immediately he lashed out, just a light slap to her upper arm as he got into a fighting position. "And you are?"

"I'm Gene!" She jumped back at the slap on the arm, giving Yin a relaxed and feral grin. Fighting mode activated. "I'll just call you Yin, alright?"

She shifted her arm to that of a wolf's, and lunged at the boil. The result was a nice cut on the forearm. She beamed, then taunted him with a finger.

"Gimme your best shot."

"Miss Gene," he sounded out. Yes, that did sound familiar. What was not familiar was her arm shifting, a paw coming at him and landing a vicious slash to his arm. He tried to move back, watching her more warily as she taunted him.

Still he was curious about the shift that she had just done and his eyes flickered to her arm. A wolf ghoul? She had not seemed the type. He moved into a defensive position, trying to debate how would be the best way to attack her.

"Better step up your game, Yin!" She lunged out again, landing a hit on the boil's ribs.

Another smirk. "You look like you know what you're doing with that stance there; what's up with the weak offense?" She gave him a look of sympathy, a smile, and then jumped into an open, flexible stance.

Seriously, where was his "game"? He had taken a break, but he had been training again. Still, his reflexes just seemed sluggish.

"If you wish," he acknowledged. He lunged forward, lashing out once again, another light slap to the same spot on her arm. He at least still had his aim, even if power was not really behind the blow. He had to stop this, he needed to focus.

He needed to get his head in the game.

"Seriously? You need to use your FEELINGS when fighting. Don't just focus on technique! Put your HEART into your FISTS."

Yes, she was totally channeling Rage-san. Totally.

She shifted her other hand into a living armor's gauntlet, and gave Yin a punch to the ribs before taking a vulnerable stance.

Yin had a lot of feelings.



He still did not want to take advantage of a ghoul, who was possibly sick.

But there were enough feels for him to get past that fact and he raked out with his claws, a hint of his fighting prowess slipping through.

"That hit actually hurt a bit! Keep it up!"

Except she was going to make it quite a bit more challenging for the boil to keep up his attacks. She phased though the floor of the gymnasium while sending her Fear into the mind of Yin, scrounging for the deepest, darkest thing she could find that would stun him.

Oh, oh Jack. This was so heartbreaking. She...what if this happened to Gideon?

The doppelganger almost didn't do it, until she heard Rage screaming in the back of her mind. Anger, fury, depression, sadness, and all those things - they made you stronger. She was going to make Yin stronger.

She came back into the Gymnasium about five feet shorter, covered in bloodstained orange and white fur, and with the saddest pair of eyes anyone'd ever seen. Walking close to Yin, she opened a bloody mouth and squeaked.

"My Yin...why?"

Gene shifted out of the form of the dead Rabo, and gave a halfhearted attempt at phasing through Yin.

She'd just done that...

Oh, Yin would keep it up. He could feel the adrenaline beginning to pump through him and then the ghoul sunk into the floor.

He waited for her to reappear, waiting and waiting, and as he was looking at the floor a shape began to appear. Fluffy, golden eyes, a bloody slash marring her normally perfect fur. Ears flattened down, tails lowered. Staring up at him. Questioning him. So sad.

A voice floated to his ears, almost as if coming out of her mouth and his knees gave out as he collapsed to the floor in front of her. "P-Princess Eva," he choked out, tears already beginning to drip down his face as his hand reached out toward her.

Her form shifted but all he could see was the after image of the rabo. Why...why had he let her...why had she...

All of his feels came rushing back as he broke down in the middle of the gymnasium.

Gene was really, really broken up about this. She had made the poor boil cry!

But what would Rage do in a battle situation? He would punch; very hard.

And so she delivered a swift blow to his cheek.

"I'm sorry, but get up. No crying on the battle field."

The punch gave him something to focus on, but that might not have been the best thing for the ghoul. Raw, angry Fear boiled up inside of him as he lunged to his feet, a snarl on his face, contorting his features. Too many emotions. And there in front of him was a target. Not someone he knew, just an outlet for his emotions.

His fists darted out, continuously landing blows, not too much damage on their own but the combination of light punches laying out a relentless attack.

Yin's reaction was completely expected, and anticipated. The thing is, Gene didn't block.

Why?

Because the poor kid needed a boost in confidence after what she'd just put him through. So, she was sent flying back after his barrage, skidding on the floor.

It took a few moments, but Gene was back on her feet, wiping sweat off her face.

"'Atta boy! Come get some more!"
