I was wondering, does anyone here or has anyone here ever watched any of the Barbie movies? The mermaid tale, the princess and the pauper and such? Nick has recently starting airing them again on Sundays at one and I realized I really liked the princess and a pauper after going and reading about the other movies, that one to me is the best one.

I think the writers and producers aim for unoriginal though because everything is always pink and so girlish and the plots always seem the same. But I guess like Pokemon, since they are still appealing to little girls, don't knock it if it's still working right?

They have a new one coming out that is similar to the princess and pauper which is called princess and the popstar. Of course the message is still "it's okay to be yourself" blah blah. You don't like your current life and change shoes with someone who also does not like their life and then once you walk a mile in each other's shoes, you enjoy your old life much more. I think we get it now.

But anyways yeah that is the only movie I like. redface

I've watched a few of them, hell I even own Barbie and the Nutcracker on video! (It's my favourite.)
I think the Barbie movies will be around for a long time, even as an adult I still like to lose myself in the sea of pink.

I really love Barbie movies. I've seen most of them except for some of the newer ones.
Personally I think a lot of the newer ones aren't very well produced and often lack the charm that the earlier movies had.
My favourite movie would have to Rapunzel; it has a lovely soundtrack and an interesting take on the traditional Rapunzel story. I also like how Rapunzel is a girl who can deal with the problems life sends her way and stand up for herself.

The Nutcracker and the swan story were my favorites. But I also really enjoy the stories of the swan princess. I do agree the newer movies lack the charm of the older. They're starting to blend together instead of stand out. Too many of those little fairies in the previews.
