White.

Or perhaps grey. The ceiling creaked, light footsteps pattering. The chandelier, rusted, groaned and swayed, once, twice, and then oddly moving without making a sound at all. The chairs flickered, faded, replaced with larger chairs and then nothing at all, as the floorboards themselves seemed to peel and reassemble themselves repeatedly.

But beyond the chaotic rearrangement of this room were the voices whispering to each person. Beckoning them somewhere Home. Home, where their loved ones were, where they could finally feel at peace, where they could resolve the strange itching, cold agitation curling in their insides and where they could finally be....

Free?

Foggy white hands began to pull away from the floor, tugging at each student, claws and arms, fingers and feathers, scales, wings-

Yet something went wrong.

Instead of a voice beckoning them to come home, the second they touched the Fear of several in the group, the second their cores wrapped around them they withdrew, just as quickly, a hissing anger, welting as it retreated.

The fog suddenly thinned, gathering together, stacking on each other layer by layer until -

They curled low, surging forward, fog-formed mandibles clacking even as a voice continued to echo over and over from within the room.

Go home.

"Oh no."

Human words were pitifully inadequate for this situation, falling from the floorboards into the very heart of the place she didn't want to go into. (Or was it?) She could feel a distinctly inhumane sensation reaching for her, holding her weapon to her chest, expecting to be promptly swallowed despite her optimistic goal seconds earlier not to be swallowed by insanity. But she didn't feel herself lost yet, she actually felt much more clarity than a few seconds earlier but with that clarity came a sense of disaster.

Opening her eyes and looking up would inform the trainee of her impending doom.

".. Did .. we tick them off?" Saya said, to nobody in particular, possibly even unaware of anyone around her. Only the giant centipede-like creature was in her range of mental focus.

Somehow he landed on his feet - in a decidedly odd room. One that seemed to be shifting around him, fading in and out of yet more fog. And also apparently warping forward and backward in time? He really wasn't sure on that one. Hands reached for him then and the Hunter flinched back, axe coming up into a guard position.

And he heard another voice, familiar. "I think that's probably a safe assumption," he muttered to Saya, edging toward the Moon trainee. Having someone else here was reassuring, even if it was just two of them. But maybe others would show up ... since it looked like they probably had a fight on their hands.

Swallowing, the Sun trainee hefted his axe again and stared at the monstrous centipedes. This was like the desert all over again. And that had not been at all fun. "I'm going in," he muttered then, and charged the creature.

From what he could tell, he managed to hit it fairly hard, but wisps of fog snaked toward him in turn, grabbing at clothing, hair, flesh. "Hey!" the trainee yelped, jumping backwards again as he felt his Fear shield weaken just a bit. It was feeding off of him... or something.

Lihua opened her eyes.

"Where am I?"

She knew that for sure she wasnt alone. For a moment she felt hands, claws on her. Then they were gone.

She looked around. And sucked in air.

"What is that?"

She closed her eyes and huddled herself on the floor. She was really a pathetic excuse for a ghost. For anything. She should be helping to fight the monsters instead of rolled up in a ball on the floor.

If you asked Remi later if he actually thought he would land on his feet after such a long fall, he would have probably cockily answered yes. As it was now? He did land on his feet, but it came more as a shock than anything else. His lineage was closer to canine, not feline. While he could not technically call himself a 'dog', there was a faint similarity between the two and they did share a common ancestry. One thing they had in common being they had issues landing on their feet.

Though Remi did, in fact with a clink of wood against the flooring, land on his feet.

Though once he opened his eyes, the world surrounding him suddenly turned white. Or...was it always white? The milkiness of the color was almost tangible, blinding, way too bright. It made his eyes narrow, not having human eyes was sometimes not the greatest of things. Though the more he watched, the more objects and noises seemed to flicker in and out. A chair... a rustle of the wind, a touch of color. Would greys even be considered a color?

More interesting though was the voices to be heard, once again seemingly only whispering to HIM. All else around him was ignored, surrounded by a few hunters and even a familiar comrade was not enough to break his attention span. Somewhere deep within himself, he felt a pulling sensation. As if something invisible sank a fishing wire deep in his gut, and was whispering words to try and pull him along. A gentle brush of something against his exposed flesh, something should be wrong..yes?

That same touch was growing more insistent, more demanding. It swirled around him threatening to suck him in to its whispering embrace, only to stop and abruptly yank itself free as it finally reached his core. The sudden shift from gentle, to pain, was enough to open his dual toned eyes wide as he finally came back to his senses, finally paying attention to his mind which was screaming at him mentally. 'Danger' it said.

'Go Home', it said next.

Only... was that him?

His answer came from the stacking, swirling mists. Only finally did he realize that they were in danger, not just from the dual of mist creatures, but from those surrounding as well. Remi's eyes narrowed with distrust, and instant hatred, at the pair of hunters that were closing in on the creature. Neither of them he knew, and thankfully that meant for them he could afford to ignore them for a while longer. Instead he noticed that two more faces were amongst them, one of them he knew pretty well by this point. Aymet.

Casting a glance towards the ghoul that was with them, making a note she seemed to be....waiting for almost doom it seemed, he made his way quickly as possible towards the one ally there he knew he could trust. Hopefully, this was not another trick of the insanity, one way to find out. "Aymet, where were you?" He tossed at the dragonlich with a almost accusing tone, though the other boil would probably know it was more from stress than anything else. "Stuff has...happened." He spoke loudly as he approached closer, getting within earshot of only the other initiate.

Hopefully, he would pick up on the subtle undertones of what he really meant. As initiates they were only allowed to talk with other initiates about horsemen related things. This was something Medea had warned them about, and something Remi really did not have the time to test right now. One way to find if this was a trick or not, was to try talking openly with Aymet. If he passed out...well, at least the enemy would not get information. Clearly getting close up in Aymet's personal space, he whispered low and quickly. "She called a meeting; Something serious is going down. There is in no way, shape, or form we can let this-" He tossed a thumb over towards the mist creature. " Take us down. We need to concentrate on killing this thing, so we can move on and find... what really is causing this." Basically, while Remi really wanted to go for the hunters in the room, which was usually what he did, he needed to concentrate on the creature at hand. "The priestess mentioned 'Ancients'. Something is rising here, something bad, something changing us in to shadows of insanity. Something that will harm both halloween and horsemen alike if we don't take it down, now." He paused looking around once more - no one else must have heard him because he was still conscious - before he turned back.

"It scared Medea." That, alone should hopefully tell Aymet how serious this matter really was. NOTHING....scared Medea.

He stopped falling abruptly when he smashed against the floor.

The room they were in was white, and then it wasn't. It was moving and seething and rearranging itself like a heartbeat. Aymet didn't know what a heartbeat was, so to him, it merely looked like collective chaos in greyscale. Voices that came from everyone and nowhere were calling to him, not quite the one already occupying Aymet's mind. It was calling him away, home, but the voice he already had pulled him toward vengeance, power, consuming. They clashed and struggled, but the foggy nothingness gradually gained the upper hand --

Hands of white fog had begun to tear at him, at his wings and his limbs and his hair. They had no form, they passed through him like ghosts, and all the while the whispering grew louder, more insistent, calling to him and him alone. They felt faraway, made of the same mournful stuff as that trance they'd all found themselves in at the school grounds, or the endless illusion he'd experienced in the phoenix. Home. That same feeling seemed to pierce right into his soul and he grew still and distant and numb; one of the hands was taking hold of his phylactery and the delicate core within, reaching inside it and --

With a hiss they retreated all at once. The whiteness receded and Aymet snapped back into reality with a vengeance.

Without giving any thought as to what just happened or if he may have been the cause of it, Aymet jumped immediately to his feet to regard the situation they were in. Even now he had a bad feeling that something was coming, though he could never seem to pinpoint exactly how he could tell. It was something about the room. Three students, two hunters. The one unfamiliar student seemed shaken, and Aymet sauntered across the short distance to answer Lihua's question. "Welcome to 'home', population: at least five missing students we need to track down, a complimentary chorus of the damned, and, well, us."

He was already seething with claustrophobia and rage, confidence and purpose. The power he'd gleaned to fill his crystal was giving him strength he'd never experienced before. The quickest way to save his friends was to tear apart every obstacle that dared to get in his way to doing so. Even this room. Even the two hunters that had the misfortune of being trapped here with him. He would have gone for one then and there if it hadn't been for Remi.

"Hah," Aymet laughed quietly alongside the kitsune, looking and sounding rather sinister. If this thing took his friends, it had another thing coming. The need for revenge was already a subtle hunger in his mind, now focused with laser accuracy on this 'ancient' Remi warned him about. In this state all he could think of were his victories against creatures of Insanity, bolstering his confidence with unrealistic ideas. He simply couldn't lose. "We'll take it down. We're stronger than anyone. Whoever or whatever is doing this, we're going to make them wish they'd never come here. Can you hear it, Remi? I hear the sound of imminent victory music. Hey..."

Aymet noticed the fog was forming something big, and heavy. And bisected. And angry. Well, two could play at that game. He charged almost as soon as they fully formed, shouting the whole time, drunk off confidence.

"Oh yeah? I'm not going anywhere! Let's do this! Come on!" he rumbled. Aymet ran at one of the centipedes and sent his claws slicing all the way down its back. Even as he reveled in the victory, he felt a numbing pain coursing through his claws, eating away at his own FEAR. It only made him angrier. "GIVE ME BACK MY FRIENDS!"

He glanced over his shoulder at the people who hadn't yet struck at the creatures, giving Saya some special attention. "Little help here?? You too, hunter. If you're not going to make yourself useful then I have a couple ideas of what to do with you. And, for the record? None of them involve you getting to keep that perfectly good skeleton inside your body."

"Useful is what I plan to be."

Amyet's resentment and hostility seemed to roll off the young girl's weapon with little thought, ignoring the student's bottled-up malice. Saya often found that rebuttling such threats was often more detrimental for her as she couldn't keep up the good old insulting battle. If there were many things that Saya was absolutely horrid at, it was usually in the verbal range of abilities. And a lot of other things.

Besides, she reminded herself with an unflinching resolution, this was the kind of treatment she expected and the same kind she was supposed to hand to them.

Amyet's threats may not have been as ineffectual as they initially seemed though. Actions spoke a little louder than words as an arrow flew past Amyet, narrowly avoiding his attacking frame to instead, embed itself deeply within the centipede-shaped shadows.

Even as a long distance weapon, Saya could feel something sapping away at her arm, suddenly flinching back. One hand pressed firmly into her weakening palm, in order to keep the nerves alert.

Lihua looked up from the floor she was on. She saw a familar face. Familar to her. She squinted and tried to remember his name.

"Aymet?"

Yes that was his name. She remember helping him in the festival. Helping him make mix and create drinks for his booth. She also noticed that they were not alone. Other ghouls and hunters too were there. She never been up close to a hunter like she was. She got up from the floor and dusted herself off. Her and Aymet may not be friends but he needed her help. And was going to help him. He was saying something about his friends. She would help him get his friends back.

Even Remi did not know that.

Five students were missing, AGAIN? "Who the hell has been taken this ti-" And then Aymet was gone. The kitsune could not keep the bark of laughter from forcing its way out between his teeth, no matter how bad of timing it was. Both because well... Remi was always laughing at something or another, and it was ironic that even in this situation the both of them were just being themselves.

Though he had to admit, Aymet DID seem a little more extreme all of a sudden. He tossed that into his mental memory for later, but there was really no time at all to contemplate it further. The Dracolich was always good at that... a familiar prickle made its way up his spine, before trailing off at the base of his neck. He felt...something at the others words, that was certain. Was it the feeling of victory he could not be sure, but there was something there. It seemed to be caressing his mind... urging him on. It said Fight... Live on... Survive... Re-

The last word was barely a whisper, and one Remi had nor even paid attention to.

Glancing towards the ghoul whom had tried to attack, and missed this time, he gave her a short grin followed by a nod. "Keep trying, even if you miss you need to get up and try again." His tone might have been harsh, but he was trying to encourage her none the less. Even with just trying, she had earned his respect.

The hunters at the moment though, were still being ignored off his radar. He did not want to bother with them, not caring if they lived or died. All they were was walking meat anyways, no need to get attached. Aymet could be the one to intimate them if he must. The kitsune in all honesty was not exactly the best at it anyways. Currently he was a 6'2" tall man with blue hair and fluffy tails. He was a large dog sized fox in true form. He had teeth and claws sure, but he was no giant, intimidating, dragonlich.

Rushing in, he made a quick slash of his fingernail like claws towards the mist. "Playing with your food still, Aymet?" He whispered in hushed tones to the other, almost as if it was their inside joke. A hiss of pain followed as he landed further from the creature, his hands suddenly feeling afire.

"Don't listen to that a*****e, Saya," Tedan muttered to his fellow Hunter as he watched the monster with narrowed eyes, waiting for another chance to attack it. It might, perhaps, have been smarter to let the Halloweeners pick away at the fog-thing so they'd get hurt by it, or tired or whatever. After all, they were outnumbered. But his own nature and training demanded that he attack as well. Until the enemy was dead. After that .... who knew what would happen in this place?

Setting his feet, Tedan charged toward the centipede again, axe swinging. He felt his hit connect and leapt back again - but this time he was prepared for the sting that apparently came with attacking this thing, and didn't even wince when he landed.

Aymet spoke back to Remi, gloating. Maybe a little louder than he should have been. "You should've seen me earlier. Chewed one up real good and spat her out. Only time I've ever wished I had a digestive tract."

The dracolich twisted, an arrow just barely lodging into his skull, and stopped one of the lunging fog centipedes with his armored wrist. He shot a look over his shoulder to the hunter with the bow and arrow. Once again he felt that numbing non-existence creeping into him with every gnash of the creature's mandibles. An uppercutting slash knocked it away and he fell back - away from the hunters. Close to the ghost girl who seemed to recognize him.

"That's me," he affirmed, pulling off his entire tail in preparation of his next move. The bony appendage writhed in his grasp like a snake, probably disconcertingly for anyone who was used to having an intact skeleton. "Don't think I got your name before?"

Lihuas first attempt at trying to strike a blow to the boss didn't go so well. Ok. So she didn't get a hit in at all. At least wasn't still on the ground crawled up in a ball. She really wanted to do that and let other people do all the fighting. Besides her mom always said that girls don't fight.

She went to strike at the the boss again. She didn't have a weapon like the hunters, but used whatever she could get her hands on.

Lihua turned towards Aymet. "My names Lihua. We kinda met at the festival."

Aymet paused to wonder if this was a good idea.

No, it really wasn't.

He would always be much more effective if he attacked it directly.

He shrugged and tossed the tail over his shoulder, where it continued to squirm around like it was independently alive. It only took the rest of him a few bounds to collide with the nearest centipede, wrestle it into a foggy headlock, and punch it in the face until he couldn't feel his fist. Mainly because the fog was eating away at it.

The boil made winced slightly at the dracolich removed his tail... but then again, why shouldn't a undead remove their appendages now and then and use them as weapons or projectiles?

His tails though still suddenly ached. Ow.

Ironically enough, it seemed the hunter had almost defeated the monster right up to the ending..... it was barely holding on. Maybe it was just his own imagination, but it seemed the mist twins were having a harder time holding on to their solid form. Hhm.

Curiously extending a claw out, he slashed once more. The familiar acid-like feeling came next, but was not unexpected.
