White.

Or perhaps grey. The ceiling creaked, light footsteps pattering. The chandelier, rusted, groaned and swayed, once, twice, and then oddly moving without making a sound at all. The chairs flickered, faded, replaced with larger chairs and then nothing at all, as the floorboards themselves seemed to peel and reassemble themselves repeatedly.

But beyond the chaotic rearrangement of this room were the voices whispering to each person. Beckoning them somewhere Home. Home, where their loved ones were, where they could finally feel at peace, where they could resolve the strange itching, cold agitation curling in their insides and where they could finally be....

Free?

Foggy white hands began to pull away from the floor, tugging at each student, claws and arms, fingers and feathers, scales, wings-

"Come home."

The sensation was sort of familiar: it was the same white, as usual, the blackout, no, the whiteout accompanying the insanity clouds. She had seen them before, and the encounter never was pleasant.

This time there were some news: the alchemist finally managed to see the pattern, or perhaps the shades in the overwhelming white. Some pieces of neither realm surrounding were actually grey. Strangely enough, she managed to see some chairs and tables: the environmental she was in was quite familiar, and entirely different from where she was a moment ago. Looks like, whether she wanted that or not, she was in a Haunted House. Or elsewhere, it didn't matter.

And the voices, of course. The same familiar voices that had been haunting her since the destruction of their homes, no... The Home. Eisheth knew clearly what those voices were talking about. She knew that too well, unfortunately. She was homeless, after all.

That why she wasn't really surprised to see that the emptiness actually wasn't as surrealistic as it seemed to be. It had forms. And shapes. And hands. Grabby hands, and they were aimed on a small group standing in the center of the unknown location; it was only now that Eisheth looked around trying to figure out who exactly was accompanying her now.

Only a startled cry managed to escape the witch before the fog took her over and devoured her whole. Somehow she had managed to keep a tight hand on Alexander, or at least she was close enough that when the white dissipated into colors and substantial forms, the witch was able to to return her hand to him. Yet as she realized where she was in, as she took in her surroundings, and more importantly realized her tight grip on the zombie, she suddenly regretted the tight hold. This wasn't her zombie, this wasn't the one who'd vowed to keep her safe, but it wouldn't do to let Alexander see that. Instead the witch slowly let him go, as she took a few steps forward into the room. It looked like she was just curious about their new surroundings rather than afraid to be too close to him.
"Where are we?" She asked him in a voice casually thrown over her shoulder, though her hands were clenched tight by her sides. It was odd to feel so peaceful and yet so tormented, but that feeling was at least substantial. That feeling she could hold onto.

Of everyone else in the room, she only knew the Horsewoman, Eisheth from Fright Night. She had been kind enough to give the witch a special ingredient, but certainly now she wouldn't extend that kindness.
Hesitant to get closer to anyone else, the witch took a few steps backwards so that she was closer to Alexander. All the while she stared at the others, uncertain and startled, she could not stop thinking about home. But home was so close, he'd only gotten a little lost...
"I lost Mort since you ran off... Have you seen him?" Belladonna asked Alexander, her voice a little lower so she could avoid catching the attention of the others. No one else needed to know how alone she was.

****.

Where is he now?
The new setting, a white/grey room that simply fills Clyde with a sense of both peace and dread as he stood there, was baffling. The sudden changes of chairs and the unwelcoming sight of the floor being pried apart from numerous limbs made the varcolac flinch, subconsciously stepping back.

Come home.

The words only made Clyde try to tug free from the numerous sets of limbs. He didn’t want to go home, it was lonely there. She wasn’t there anymore. There was no one there anymore. He didn’t want to go home. He didn’t want to be alone.

Stop thinking about it.
Clyde gave himself a slap, trying to make himself focus, before glancing at the others occupying the room…He doesn’t know anyone here.

He came out gasping, if he could be said to have come out of the fog. It had seemed like he was drowning for a moment, but Billy now sensed he was somewhere else again. He twitched, hearing phantom feet running on the floor above.
Looking about he thought he could make out figures in the fog, they seemed more concrete now.

"Hello? Who is there?" he asked, as if it would help. He hadn't had time to really meet anyone in the academy.
The fog was nicer now, it shifted and swirled around him. It didn't feel like it had really let him go, like it swirled through his brain with whispers for home, and freedom. To be free, to sleep, to dream. Home.
He shook his head trying to scatter it and took an uneasy step towards the others, eyeing the shifting floorboards.

"Hello?" he was nervous, he couldn't tell if they were actual people or more phantom shapes, and the whispers he could hear could just be more whispers, or conversation. The fog was weird, cloying, but it was nice too. he was unseasy.

When the white finally faded, and Alex's eye blinked open once more it was to find that they were in a different place altogether. Sounds invaded his senses first, like the creaking of the ceiling as a chandelier began to swing, though that only seemed to last for two creaks and then it was oddly silent once more. The room was still filled with fog, as everything else had been, but they were now clearly inside.

"It's just like what happened during my exam..." The zomboil murmured, forgetting all about the fact that he had been holding on to Belladonna, and easily letting her step away. One moment they had been in one place, then a white fog surrounded them, sending them somewhere else. He felt strangely at peace at that moment, his anguish and feelings of desolation finally ebbing away.

He stared around the room, pale eye wide, taking in the flickering of the furniture as it was first one thing, then another, only to disappear altogether. Then he began to turn, to see who else was here with him. Whispers continued in his head, beckoning him home, and he suddenly found that he actually wanted to go there. It was a happy place, and it would free him of all of this unease. All of these others in the room with him...they would try to stop him!

But no, that wasn't right. Why would Belladonna want to keep him from home? Why would Eiseth, whom he barely knew beyond the fact that she was dating one of his best friends? But these others, these strangers. They might try to stop him. He narrowed his one good eye at them all before Belladonna's voice had him turning towards her.

"Inside, I think. We must be." He paused, watching her as she came closer to him, suspicious of her intentions though somewhere deep inside he knew better. Still, he took a couple of shuffling steps back, away from her, keeping his own distance as well.

"No. No he's....I haven't seen him." He changed his mind about telling her. She didn't need to know what Alex knew. Not right now, not unless she pressed him for more. It was a pain she didn't need to feel.

Madison's breath came out in a rush as she realized everything had stabilized; the fog was so thick that she couldn't tell who was who, but she could hear voices in the fog underneath the thrumming. Home, home, home- but Home was an island far from here.

... or so very near, if only she breathed the words; her pendant felt cold and heavy on her chest, tucked under her scarf.

She redoubled her grip on her weapons. The Insanity was the true enemy here. She was gathering evidence... that was all. For now, she had no quarrel with anyone. Just for now.

(ooc: on phone, will be slow, forgive errors plz. Originally wrote post with only santime, avian, and ayeavast having posted. ETA stuff acknowledging others OnO sorry!!!)

The Hunter was shivering as the last tendrils of white fog released him back into a solid form. He'll never get used to that feeling, that chilling sensation that reached beyond skin and went down to his very bones. With the ever-changing sight of the room to greet him, Before fought the wave of nausea threatening to crash over him. He doubted the Haunted House would react kindly to being vomited on no matter what the state of redecoration it was in.

Instinctively he summoned his partner: The wheel larger than his torso rested comfortably on shoulder as if she weighed little more than air. Before was quick to place her in front of him, treating her more like a shield and less like a weapon. He shook his head to clear his thoughts of the voices whispering about Home. They were compelling but at the same time highly suspicious.

Do not do anything stupid, silly Before, as against your nature as that is. Such as engaging in another yelling match, the former Devil Shield snapped at her partner.

Before felt no immediate need to make the first attack. He remembered Belladonna from that fashion booth at Fright Night. Surely anyone who recognized and appreciated the importance of fashion couldn't be all bad. As for the stomach-dude, Before remembered him pointing out how he hadn't attacked. Yelling-match notwithstanding (because Before was totes winning). The other figure was that Horseman and Before did not trust... Him? Her? Uh it was hard to tell but all the same, Before no trust! Because. Horseman. Enough said D<

He gave the goat-demon and the zombie-guy a careful study and began to slowly inch towards the only other Hunter present. Thankfully he recognized just... not in that coat. "Death?" he whispered in dismay D8

Peering over his large, spiked wheel, Before asked: "Just whose home is this supposed to be? 'Cuz at this rate, imma gonna end uphurling on your floor. I mean carpet. I mean tiles. I mean oh ******** this..."

That wasn't even funny.

Eisheth observed the group of boils and ghouls standing around: there were a couple of students, one of them she recognized immediately, as Alex was one of Mei's friends. And therefore... therefore she'll have to protect him. At least this single student. She won't like to get Mei upset about his death, right? Another silhouette was quite familiar, as well: Belladonna, the witch from the festival who ran the fashion booth. The horseman nodded to her briefly, as a sign of recognition: she could not in the life of hers remember, if Belladonna was a four clans initiate.

There were a couple of students completely unfamiliar, and thus, the alchemist won't care about their existence, it was obvious.

But. There were others.

Others were different. Eisheth could bet she was able to sense the humans by their sheer scent, though the current circumstances probably erased most of the scents in the building. But there could be no doubt about it. Those were humans. And simple, ordinary humans could not be here, in the first place. The answer was evident.

"What the **** are you doing here?", the alchemist's voice wasn't enraged or even aggressive (though she were enraged, and in fact, very aggressive); her voice was ice cold, and almost metallic revealing no emotions. "Is that - she pointed at the room around them, - your doing?"

There were just two of them here, and four students on her side. Getting rid of the hunters can't be a big deal.

While it was only momentarily comforting to know that the zomboil was there with the witch, she still didn't feel at ease with him for whatever reason. And even more than that, she felt as though she strangely couldn't trust him.
"Lying isn't very nice, you know. If you've seen him, it'd be best to tell me now."
She didn't even bother to look at him, instead concentrated on the others in the room. The boil with the gaping stomach looked fairly safe, if confused, but it wasn't as though the witch was going to step closer to him. In fact, she was going to stay exactly where she was. Mostly because that one ghoul had glowing swords and the other boil had some crazy looking wheel with spikes. Momentarily her eyes narrowed at them, fairly certain they weren't Reapers. They just didn't have the right look.

"Look at something stationary. It'll help you from getting sick." Belladonna offered in a helpful voice to the boil with the spikey wheel. She didn't move, but pointed to his wheel just in case he needed the additional assistance.
As for the harsh words from Eisheth, she only narrowed her eyes at the Horsewoman before she smoothed her face back out. Such an overreaction wasn't necessary in a time like this, but the witch hardly doubted it was good to immediately jump on others. But then again, wasn't that the way of the Clans? To jump into things regardless of whether it was safe, or even smart, or not.

…Ok, he kinda knew someone…if having a yelling match with them count as knowing them.

“You are free to puke your guts away.” Whether Clyde is being blunt or just sarcastic is up for opinion. His attention then drifted over to Eisheth who started accusing the hunters.

Clyde wasn’t sure what to feel right about now, but one thing is for sure: Pointing fingers is not going to solve anything. What’s important now is probably to not start a suddenly brawl which could end up with them killed. Not fun, nope. He probably would have said something if the physical appearance of the accuser haven’t caught his attention. Oh yea, a clans member…That…explains the reason for the accusation actually.

Hostile - ah. Of course. Horseman. Madison sighed, sounding weary and exhausted. "No, it's not. If it was, we wouldn't be stuck here too. This fog is everyone's enemy. I'm not going to attack anyone unless someone goes after me first," she said, pointedly sheathing one of her blades.

She kept one sword out, of course. She wasn't stupid.

"Can't you hear it? Home," she whispered, then winced as her playacting caused an additional reverberation in her mind; Kouki shivered, then supplied an image of their dorm room. Yes, yes, that was home, not whatever these voices were saying...

She glanced over at Before. Please, please play along - of course it HAD to be Before she was stuck with. Trying to be sneaky. With Before.

This was gonna end well...

Aha. So, those hunters are claiming to be trapped as well!

"You're trapped, you say? But what you've been doing here, in the first place? Sneaking around like thieves again? What for now, are you planning to attack Halloween, too? And besides, you keep telling about the insanity as our common enemy, but aren't you, pitiful creatures, the reason we're dealing with the insanity, anyway? So, what do you expect from the one whose Home you destroyed: shall I hug you and fight together with you?".

Eisheth was almost ready to rush into the ghoul and rip off her throat; she was exploding with the feelings of rage and hatred. But something in the atmosphere around was affecting her even stronger: the insanity, she knew that, those voices telling her about the Home; her entire identity was torn apart between peace and rage. Part of her felt she was at Home, but another part, practical and rational, kept reminding her that's just an ordinary effect of insanity. Though, this one was truly hard to deal with. Especially for the horseman.

"Lying? I'm not lying." He glared at the ghoul who moments before he had been clinging to, happy to see that she was still alive, now wondering how much he could even trust her. "I haven't seen him, but I ran into somebody who has." He sighed, not wanting to do this right now, not right here in the midst of what they were currently dealing with. There was just something not right about this room. The way it was flickering and changing, the way there were sounds and then nothing, the way he felt both at peace and at odds with everything and everyone at the same time.

Maybe this was how it began. Maybe he would be joining the insanity monsters soon. Maybe he would be going home....

Momentarily he was distracted by the voices of the others in the room. Eiseth shouting, Belladonna suggesting staring at something stationary to somebody behind him. What was everyone's problem anyways??

And then he turned, and he saw it. Hunters.

JACK DAMNIT.

"Don't help them." He snapped at Belladonna. "Why would you help them? It's probably their fault that this is happening. They've always got something to do with it." Again he was actually surprised to hear the tone of voice he was using on the ghoul. She was a friend, wasn't she? Why was he behaving this way? Why was he so unsure about whether or not he could trust her? By jack he was getting way off topic now! He took a deep breath and tried to get back on track.

"Belladonna, listen to me. Mort is no longer....he's one of them now. I'm sorry." It would help if he actually sounded a little bit sorry, probably, but this was the best he could do.

Voices buzzed through the fog, voices like annoying insects, and she shook her ears to rid them of the whining. They were annoyances, breaking the silence. They were disturbances, threats, interrupting her search. She couldn't go home as long as these intruders were here. She slunk closer through the rising fog, moving through the clutching hands as though they were nothing.

"Home," she whispered, and lunged, striking out with strong blunt claws and sharp teeth.
