When they make such comments, keep ignoring them. It might not make you popular or anything, but hey, college isn't a lifetime. It'll end, and you'll leave them. And if they try to ask more than where you're from, say more specific of X city, tell them that they don't need to know, they're not your friend. I think social status is BS. We actually had a kid like that come to our school (public, small) from a private place for rich kids. Treated everyone, even the teachers, like dirt. Several failing classes on one report card later, their parents came to complain. Brushed by our principal, demanding to see the principal. Kept it up until another student told them shut up, you shoved right by her. So they asked, and learned that their kid was like them and didn't fit in, and therefore was failing because they refused to participate and do homework. Rich kids need a heavy dose of the real world without money cat_stare
