[HH 2v2] One Last Time (Wilson/Jake/Shun/Xiu) FIN

Here he was again in the Haunted House. Wilson wanted to say the different scenery was a welcome change, but considering his last fiasco involving the Haunted House, he was afraid that wasn’t the case. This time his weapon was already summoned, the green lens of his mask glowing eerily in the shadows as he wandered the hallways aimlessly. After what seemed like a while of meandering, Wilson stopped to examine his surroundings.

He couldn’t hear footsteps save for his own. There really wasn’t much the death hunter could do until he encountered another person. Sighing, he spotted a slightly ajar door and headed for it. “Hello?” Wilson called out softly as he used the blades of his cannon to push the door further open.

To say that Xiu was acting increasingly more strange would have been an understatement. Ever since the day she had fought with Jake, she seemed a lot more...callous. As she wandered through the halls and classes, she greeted her peers not with smiles and friendly waves, but with disgusted scowls. Those who chose to talk to her would find that she refused to reply or even look at them...and it was not only her acquaintances that she would treat in such a manner, but her friends as well. Although she seemed a little more like her usual self around those who she deemed close to her, there was obviously something lingered in her eyes as she looked at them. Some kind of...disapproval, maybe, as if she saw them as something lesser.

Shun was no exception. When he arrived at her dorm room to tell her something, she simply invited him inside without a single word or smile. When he informed her that the shards that had been embedded in his hand were gone, she simply frowned at him, her brows drawn in confusion. Okay, so...why should she care--

--Stop, She ordered herself with a shudder, lifting a hand to clutch her head, Stop it, stop acting like this, stop thinking these things! Squeezing her eyes shut, she took a deep breath, her shoulders sagging as she let it out. Tilting her head back to look up at the reaper, she offered him a small smile, an expression more reminiscent of her usual one. "I'm glad to hear that, aniki--"

And then she froze, every hair bristling at the wave of alarm that suddenly swept over her. Her voice died in her throat, her mind filling only with the knowledge that she was being threatened somehow. There was something here, something close. The Haunted House? Whatever the case, she had to get rid of it. It wasn't only a danger to herself but to her people and her kingdom as well.

Xiu didn't even stop to think about what "her people" and "kingdom" even meant, the thoughts coming to her naturally. "Something's here," She murmured aloud, her darkened gaze flickering up to Shun, "Something's here and I need to get rid of it before it threatens all of us." Without any other warning, she stood up and marched out of the door.

Before long, the baku found herself at the Haunted House. She did not stop to look around, nor did she pause to check and see if Shun was following her. Instead, she took long, purposeful strides in a particular direction, marching forward until...

...There. Two hunters, one of whom was familiar, and the other of which was not. Jake only received a brief glance and a small nod before her gaze slid to Wilson. In an instant, the end of her tail bristled at the strange, threatening air that seemed to be radiating off of him. "Who are you, and what do you think you're doing here?"

Since Xiu was involved, Shun had indeed gone to her to let her know what had happened regarding the crown shard. The way she greeted him was... strange to say in the least. She had invited him in a way that was.. kind of like how he acted on a normal basis. This was certainly not normal for her. But, she seemed to have snapped out of it to an extent.

Something was still bothering her, though. But before he could inquire what was wrong, she seemed to pick up on something. Tensing, he looked around warily, wondering if there was something in the room. Nothing was around. While he didn't see anything, she seemed to insist that danger was here.

And before he knew it, she had gotten up and stormed on out.

"Kuso.." he hissed under his breath, quickly moving after her. He didn't know what had gotten into her, but he wasn't about to let her go head first into danger alone if he could help it. Sure enough, she had ended up in the haunted house; a place that he really didn't care to be in. Many things had happened in this place and none of them were really all too good. Coming here also usually meant an encounter with Hunters.. one way or another.

Just as that thought came to mind, he saw the two hunters ahead. Great. With a sort of grimace, he looked over towards Xiu, who demanded to answers out of them right away. That.. wasn't exactly like her. The crown. Was this the cause of this sudden reaction?

"I didn't realize you'd be one to be seeking out a fight with hunters," he murmured lowly to Xiu. Really. She wasn't the type. Though if that wasn't her intention.. well a fight was probably going to be breaking out very soon. He didn't summon his weapons just yet, but he was staring down the two ahead. Hunters. He hated them all. And they could die for all he cared. Fighting them was not an issue for him.

Patrolling. The answer should have come easy to Wilson when he heard the voice, but instead he jumped and pointed his weapon at Jake. But once he realized it was a trainee, he lowered while never tearing his gaze away from Jake. “I could ask you the same thing, actually,” he noted coolly as he gestured for the other hunter to enter the room with him. While the house currently seemed empty, one could never know when it would deign to drop off another surprise guest.

The hairs on the back of his neck began to stand on end. Wilson tugged Jake even further into the room. “Do you feel that?” he hissed. Jake was a fellow death hunter. Surely he too could sense the large presence. “We have to get rid of it. It has to go away now or…” I will never get what I want. My desires will be left unfulfilled.

His muscles tensed as he heard the door creak open. They’re here. His cannons clicked quietly as he readied his first shot. He could vaguely recognize the two figures blocking the door way. Perhaps Wilson had fought with them during one of the giant battles hunters often got dragged into, but that didn’t matter. He glanced at the reaper, but instead spoke in a low voice toward the baku, “I could ask you the same thing.”

Despite the paranoid jitters flying around in his stomach, Wilson pointed one of his cannons at Xiu. “I hope you brought a mask.” He fired.

So Shun had followed after all. She turned her head slightly to face him but her gaze were fixated on the two hunters as she spoke. "That's no ordinary hunter," She answered, her voice a low growl as she jerked her head in Wilson's direction, "I don't know what he is, but I do know that he's dangerous."

And as if right on cue, Xiu found herself being surrounded by a cloud of gas, sputtering and coughing as she accidentally sucked it into her lungs. Jack damnit! Eyes watering, she tried to seek out her target as gas and tears obscured her vision. Still, it wasn't too hard--she could feel the power that radiated from the figure close by, pinpointing on him before lunging forward.

She swung her fist around, aiming right for the black-haired hunter before jumping backwards, quickly glancing to the side at Shun. At the same moment, the scene in front of her began to flicker again, fading in and out between reality and the strange dream kingdom that had been plaguing her lately. Before she knew what she was saying, she barked an authoritative order out at the reaper.

"Don't kill him, just knock him out if you have to! We don't need any pointless bloodshed here, but this is between me and him!" She made a rough gesture in Wilson's direction before turning her attention back to him, her tail still bristling. "Just who are you?"

And just like that, battle had erupted. Shun shifted away as a cloud of gas was spewed towards Xiu. He couldn't keep his attention on her for long as he was soon attacked by the other hunter in the group. The gas gun guy was no ordinary hunter? That may be something to discuss after this was over.

Quickly summoning his daggers, he got into position after taking a hit. He shot a glance towards the Baku, frowning as she ordered him to not kill the blue haired one. Really? He couldn't help but scoff lightly at that. Shaking his head, he focused in on the one wielding bladed tonfas, watching his movements as carefully as he could.

He made no strike just yet, waiting to see what the hunter would do, and preparing himself to move quickly if needed. Nothing was said.

Wilson really didn’t care that Jake and the reaper were now fighting each other. He was beginning to get tunnel vision, and the limited field of vision his mask provided really wasn’t helping the situation.

Without missing a beat he dropped his arms to his sides and strode forward through the green cloud of gas. Unlike the others, he stood tall as he breezed through the mist, heading straight for his intended target. He could even hear her coughing as she too strode forward to meet him. He tried to stop and step back as he saw the shadowy figure of a fist, but it was too late. The hunter stumbled backward. For someone so dainty, she really knew how to throw a punch when the time called for it.

“Funny. Aren’t you just a student?” he hissed, “Who gave you the right to bark out orders?”

Again his cannon spewed out more gas, making the existing cloud even thicker. “The coat says it all, doesn’t? I’m a hunter.” He raised one leg to kick her in the stomach. “Don’t you dare hurt my people. Back off.”

Just a student? It was true, yes, and technically not anything to be ashamed of, but something about the words made her blood boil. No, no! She just not just a jackdamn student! She was a--

The answer to her was clear, but she never got to finish her thought. The spew of gas successfully distracted her, and she instantly threw up a gloved hand to cover her mouth and nose in an attempt to protect herself. However, what she had not be counting on was the Hunter suddenly bursting out of the smoke to kick her, sending her stumbling back in pain.

"You are the danger here! Why don't you keep your hands off of my people?! Don't bring them into this!" Any other time, she probably wouldn't have stopped at his words. He wanted to protect his friends, she wanted to protect hers--logically, there would be no reason to fight. Unfortunately, all sense of this "logic" had been thrown out of the window, the simple desire of eliminating this supposed "threat" consuming her thoughts.

Shun shifted to the side at the hunter's attack, then countered with his own, slashing out with both blades consecutively, aiming for the man's torso with both strikes. Though, the conversation between the other two caught his attention. Something wasn't quite right here. And what was with this 'my people' business? Somehow, he had a feeling that all of this did have something to do with her new pendant. That didn't say much for the gas mask hunter. Hopefully it wasn't something similar. The hunters didn't need that sort of power. Power that he had seen Xiu exhibit before.. and even now she seemed to be tapping into it.

.. Maybe.

It was a little hard to tell right now.

As for their little argument, it wasn't going to be getting anywhere. He was certain of that much.

"Don't bother trying to reason with them," he muttered under his breath.

He could see the rage painted across the demon’s face and for some reason it brought him sick pleasure to see the creature so riled up at his words. It was such a shame her face became hidden from his own gas, but Wilson reasoned that it was better this way. He was far used to walking around in the fog while she was not. This was his element.

“Lies,” the hunter hissed back as he continued to stalk through the cloud. Even with his mask painting everything a tint of green, he could still somehow see flashes of red whenever his gaze lingered on the smaller girl. Fear seized his heart suddenly at her demands. “No! How could I possibly do that when you have every chance to do the same to my own?” He had to exercise caution. He had to think of every single possible option, and it seemed far too easy for her to attack his people. His voice was plagued with doubt and paranoia, but then his words grew calm. “How about you back off first?”

With his deal set, he launched another volley of gaseous shots.

Damnit! Damn this hunter and damn this attack of his! The baku found herself choking on the fumes, her throat burning as she tried her best to wave away and disperse as much of the gas as she could. Each breath that she took while surrounded filled her with a unpleasant wave of dizziness and a pain in her chest, but surprisingly enough, she still felt...okay. Whereas the flurry of attacks would have once brought her to her knees, she found that she still had enough strength in her to remain conscious and mobile.

She barely even considered his deal, bristling with suspicion the moment the offer left his lips. "Say that I back off first...and then what? And then you sweep in while our guard is down? You come in, hurting my people and slaughtering them for your own selfish desires?" She let out a bark of disgusted laughter, her lips twisting into a scowl. Using his voice as a guide, she darted forward, bringing her leg up as she aimed a kick for his stomach.

"How can I trust you? How can I know that you will just not turn on us the moment that the situation becomes opportune?"

Xiu was caught up in her own bubble, blinded to Jake and Shun who were fighting one another nearby. Her focus was fixated completely on her opponent, the waves of--what was, in her mind--malice rolling off of him.
