[1 vs 1] Big and Little [Ren & Jove]

A certain wisp would receive a text message shortly upon waking:

Text to Little Brother: TIME FOR A SPAR, PUT ON YOUR BIG BOY PANTS AND MEET ME IN THE GYM!!!!!!

What on earth did that even mean. Big boy pants? Did that mean Ren wanted him to come in his older form?

Jove made a grumbling noise at his phone. Although at first it had been pretty cool, staying in touch with everyone if he needed to, playing games, telling the time with a push of a button... Mostly it was his brother sending him messages.

But he couldn't be too unhappy this time, Ren didn't usually ask for a fight. He always imagined the gryphon to be a bit of a pacifist (wasn't that what 'vegetarian' meant?) and hadn't really fought him seriously before. So he dressed in his older form, and went down to the gym to see what got his brother so worked up all of a sudden.

"OH YOU'RE IN THAT FORM AGAIN!"

This (very obvious) proclamation was followed by Ren throwing his arms around older Jove's shoulders and giving him a squashy sort of hug, ruffling his hair as though he were still little Jove and then patting his cheeks.

Then he stood back and said seriously, "It's that time, Jove."

He cleared his throat importantly.

"Time for big brother and little brother to have spar."

That was all Ren needed to say.

Jove let out a happy bark, and leaped at the taller boil. He was just so excited, he had never sparred with his brother before! It was like... sharing his mushrooms!

His tail was wagging too happily for his headbutt to do much damage.

Ren put is hands on his hips and gave his little brother an outraged look.

"Did you just headbutt me."

He thwapped him across the back with one enormous wing, enough to knock him off of his feet (probably) but not hard enough to do major damage.

Jove was sent SPRAWLING. He ended up rolling a couple meters before recovering his footing, and springing back for a new attack. Although he didn't really want to hurt his brother... He really did want to show off what he could do! He wasn't the little pipsqueak he once was- well he was still the same pipsqueak, just stronger than before!

The pup leaped not straight at Ren, but at one of those giant wings, and then chomped on it with his teeth.

"OW JOVE WHAT DID BIG BROTHER TELL YOU ABOUT BITING - "

He pried the boil off, throwing him to the side with a pout.

Jove bounced. What did Ren mean, biting was only not allowed when they were playing! Fighting was a completely different thing, he bit everyone all the time when he fought. That was the only way something as small and fluffy as himself could do any damage, his teeth were his natural weapons!

With ears flattened back, he tried to do something that wasn't biting. Needless to say, his tackle came out more like a big hug.

Well, now he was confused.

"Jove, didn't I tell you, hugging me to death won't work."

Ren was so annoying... So Jove took back all thoughts of attempting an attack that didn't involve teeth, and gave the gryphon a good chomp, all the while clinging in a way that would make him hard to dislodge.

"OW JOVE OW WHAT ARE YOU DOING STOP THAT - "

Ren forcibly pushed his little brother away from him, huffed, and stood with his hands on his hips, a very pouty look on his face as he surveyed the little wisp.

"You're supposed to let big brother win."

Jove leaped back and snapped his teeth again. If Ren wanted a win, he would have to forcibly take it from the little pup! Brothers or not, Jove took this game very seriously, and as far as he was concerned the invitation had been to go all out. Not play-wrestle with pillows or something.

Anyway. He was sure the role of a big brother was someone who let the younger brother win in good humour, not the other way around- but wait. What if that's what Ren was doing right now? Letting him win and feigning a slow start?

Ren reached out, scooped up Jove, and proceeded to cart him around like a sack of potatoes. "All right, fine," he said stubbornly. "If you're just gonna be like that then I will go ahead and fight you like a man, little brother, so just be prepared."

He had the strangest urge to burst into song after that...

At any rate, the next second Jove would find himself flying through the air as Ren literally tossed him across the hall.

FINALLY. Ren should have just fought him seriously in the first place! He should have-

He had no time to dodge, and the next second he was airborne. It was not a good sensation, and before he could halt his impromptu flight he bounced off a wall and struck the ground with more force than seemed possible considering the weight of his small body. He toppled head over heels once more before coming to a rest.

Yet even that didn't last long. He sprung up immediately and leaped at Ren, using his invisible ghostly tendrils to his advantage. He raked them towards his brother as he darted past, trying to stay out of the gryphon's reach.
