I've been wanting to do this rp but I was wondering if there were any ways that I could make it better or if someone were interested in collaborating with me to make it better, or if anyone was interested in just joining the roleplay? It's an idea that I've seen a little of and based off of one that I was wanting to join before it was abandoned before it started almost a year ago.

Here's a summary:

It was pretty much a large uninhabited island with multiple terrains was discovered and over the years people began to populate the island (bringing many types of pokemon in tow) until eventually it became it's own region containing pokemon from many, if not all, of the other regions.

It became a new point of study for pokemon professors with pokemon from so many regions inhabiting one. Seeing an opprotunity, one professor sent out invitations to certain individuals, trainers, breeders, even professors-in-training, to travel through the island and gather information on the pokemon of the island in exchange for the experience of multi-region pokemon.

Many of the individuals contacted are those that would/might be looking for a second chance rather than the typical child going off for the first time. People who's circumstances prevented them from having their adventures or had their adventures cut short before they could achieve their goals.

The group would travel together through each town and the surrounding areas. Each town will have a description and a map in game-like layout for reference. Each person with be able to bring or choose up to two pokemon from a list of acceptable starting pokemon (not all will be "starter" pokemon and will have a bit more options than some I've seen) and can bring any supplies or items that they feel they can carry. For those who are trainer, there will be gyms in the majority of the towns to test their abilities.

... That's all I can think of right off the top of my head. I just wanted to get everything straight before I tried to get people to rp it.

Hello, I would love to join and help if I weren't so darn busy.

I'm not sure if ill be any help, but I do co captain in a pokemon guild, so maybe I can try and help?

I have seen plenty of other pokemon guilds, and one of the main problems most have are they don't ever have any rules or guidelines... Please have rules... guilds aren't challenging, or fun if you can find a level 50 Gyarados swimming around in a pond, and can beat it with a level 5 charmander (and yes I have seen someone do that in a roleplay...) It isn't fun if you can instantly have anything you want. It may be a little extra work for you, and you might lose a few people over time, but it may be worth it.

Are you going to allow people roleplay as the gym leaders? If so make sure they are dedicated, and willing to sat active for battles.

Are you going to allow super powers, like talking to pokemon, or controlling the elements? You might want to know this before someone starts fire blasting pokemon themselves.

Do you have a leveling up system? Or a system to get items, HMs and TMs?

How about HP, and damages?

Yes, I was already planning to have a rules and guidelines. I don't have a level system in mind but I was going to have in the guidelines that players be conscious of the apx. level their pokemon is at and that only moves that are within that range can be used. Pokemon will only be able to be encounter-able if the type and size plausibly fits within the environment the characters are currently in. Those who are wanting to encounter a stronger pokemon later in the rp to catch it will need to bring it up in the OOC thread before hand so that it can be discussed. Obviously, chances of getting a legendary are slim to none (no offense to those who like legendary pokemon) though a legendary simply appearing in the rp can be discussed.

I also don't know of a good battling system other than just trying to be aware of the strength of your and your opponent's pokemon. If anyone has a better idea then please let me know. As for allowing people to roleplay gym leaders, I was hoping to avoid having too many people be gym leaders and mostly treat them more as NPCs or have either myself or a trusted few play any/all gym leaders as need be.

I actually didn't realize that superpowers for humans in pokemon rp was a thing, but I will address it in the guidelines that this won't be that kind of rp. smile Many pokemon could be used if a player wants to control any of the elements or any of that.

If anyone has anymore questions/advice I would appreciate it.

Though I didn't vote to give my ideas, but there is a real life Pokemon Tabletop RP that can be used as a guide. Things like stats and EXP give are great starts, but I should warn you that without the dice rolling, it will be hard to kill anything. Have an idea that instead of following what is says as the dice, have the move have a power, like tackle instead of being 2D8 + 6, have it be a 8 or 12, and add stats that way.

For each level, also take and give the pokemon rather than 1 per level, give it 3 stat gains, and have them customize their pokemon as they like. Link to the site for the Tabletop Game is Here. If you find this to confusing, have people type in their pokemon stats in a seperate shat from the RPG and OOC, to allow easy access to trainers and pokemon stats.
