Milo:
Koume Shizuka thinks of him like the ocean. Calm in parts, yet wild and crazy everywhere else.
Milo is coming into Deus still riding the tail end of a crushing few weeks when his dreams were dashes (dashed, I say!). His mind over compensating slightly for all that he got to think about during the training and the tests and the long haul in the pod, heightening his usual cheery self into boundaries of annoyingly happy. It's not too far of from normal really, as Milo was already a generally optimistic and mellow individual who played most things off with a laugh and a joke. But, some of those realistic limits, where he would normally stop and think before plunging in all gung-ho and a 'sure why not', seem to be missing. (Could also be attributed to the 'new place, new rules, new first impressions, let's make sure people think I'm cool' syndrome). Ambitions set higher, goals a little more crazy, ideas maybe a little left field. A hero complex might arise. Doesn't help he was told he would be able to fight monsters and bring justice and peace to mankind, creating a slight delusion (and childhood fantasy come true) of becoming a Power Ranger. He's just unsure yet if he'll be becoming the leader of a new team or the cool new hero that comes to save the day. (The green scarf doesn't help figure this out…)
All the same, parts of his usual state of being will still shine through. Like his inability to really deal with emotions in front of people besides smiling. Anger, frustration and loathing simply bottle up only to be released when he's alone - to which long winded rants form in his head. He doesn't like others to see him angry (especially with these individuals), for the most part to make sure he's still fitting in and getting along with everyone. He also just doesn't like to deal with confrontation in that degree, having never won a shouting match in his life (thanks older siblings!) and he's always had a bit too much control in himself to throw a punch at someone (hm, maybe that will be gone now too).
Koume Shizuka:
Milo thinks of her like the wind. Ever present and often howling and loud.
Koume Shizuka is high maintenance and hard to please, often without realizing it. Her general dislike of splitting up her name should have been a clue. There are many tall tale signs of a Type A personality; ambitious, organized, impatient, proactive and a little sensitive. Like so many of those prissy girls on television. And some made a little worse with the wait for a Hunter to finally partner with (soooo long). She's easily frustrated and quick to go into phase nag.
Just like her fathers. Oh how one strives to be different and set themselves apart, only to become what annoys them most.
Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter?
Milo would like to say he got his ability to sense 'weird' things from some curse he got for being young and foolish, or some fateful night wandering through sugar cane or that his Tutu (grandmother) was a Hawaiian Shaman and he inherited such a, uh, gift. But he didn't. It was just kind of always there. Honestly, he wasn't bothered by it for the longest time and kind of wondered if it was normal - that no one just talked about the strange feelings or those weird shadows to counter otherwise. His siblings seemed to look like they wanted to, but no one spoke up about it, so he just kind of left it alone as best he could. It did often get really annoying and distracting though; often getting him in trouble.
That's only one part of this story though. When Milo was 11 years old, a television series (one that had been actually going on for a few years under different names) aired called Power Rangers SPD. It was amazing to him and left a rather big impression, and perhaps started a mild obsession with the series and those similar. From then on, he decided he wanted to become a space cop. Realizing that wasn't really possible, he decided on something a little more reasonable and decided on simply a cop (and secretly a Power Ranger). He worked hard, stayed out of trouble as best as he could, joined the track team and kept up with his studies to the best of his ability (he was no honor student, but he got by with average grades). While attending a junior college in Southern California, Milo made his first attempts in getting into the Police Academy, but didn't really make it past the initial testing phase. It was depressing to receive that rejection, friends didn't hear from him for days or even weeks (they could hear a lot of emo music coming from his room though and the sounds of reliving toku).
And just when there seemed to be recovery, and Milo seemed to get back up in his spirits and rejuvenation to his dreams, fate decided to have other ideas, perhaps (as he would like to say) when a chance meeting came his way and a unique opportunity. His gut - and that ten year old self of his who still wanted to become a Power Ranger and fight for justice - told him to take it. Even if he would never go back to his old life ever again.

Koume Shizuka went to the Hunters basically out of morbid curiosity, to see what they were and what they had to offer. There wasn't a lot going for her with her life in Halloween; set to do as her family always did with attending school and then meeting someone (or someones) to make other tengu scarelings with and continue the great traditions of tengu. It was boring, it seemed dreadful and humdrum and when there came an opportunity for something different to do with her life, she said 'sure'. And didn't regret it.

Weapon Ability
[Battle Cry] Beating Wings - When charged, the runes on Koume Shizuka glow a bit brighter with her gathered FEAR and a breeze begins to pick up around her. Milo simply has to swing the blade in the direction of his opponent, releasing what looks like a gust of razor edged feathers.
[ of course, Milo is more likely to make a spectacle about this; calling it by different names, posing and drawing it out before he actual uses the attack]

Clothing Style/Colours: Green scarf (that matches his eyes). Milo likes to say he dresses well; wearing nice ties, vests, dress shirts and tight slacks. Apparently even suspenders not worn properly, because that creates a look.
Extra: His right ear is pierced at the conch (hoop with a bunny charm biggrin ), while his left is pierced at the helix and scaffold.

one grandmother affectionately referred to as Tutu, he barely sees his other grandparents 'cause they're in Japan.

. His name was originally supposed to be pronounced as Mee-lo, 'cause he's the third child and is actually named after a tree. But that didn't really stick, his mother was not very happy but gave in (SHE still pronounces it correctly, though)
. Originally from Hilo, Hawaii. Moved to California when he was 15 with his older sister when she got a job on the mainland (because he wanted to go), so he finished up high school in San Dimas and went to a community college while also trying to get his way into the Police Academy. Went back to the islands during school breaks until he was recruited by Deus.
. Gigantic Power Rangers fan (Did we mention that already? I don't think we did), and Super Sentai and Kamen Rider when he found them via the internet. Favorites series are Power Rangers SPD/Dekaranger and Kamen Rider W. Has lots of the toys, might have tried to smuggle some.
. Both Koume and Milo have a fondness for rabbits - the charm off the end of her Naginata is actually from her skellyphone (she received it from one of her many sisters) while his earring was given to him by his sister.
