"Help me!

Etana saw the bubble forming around her. She never once noticed the staff that had been the cause of it all. At first the angel had thought something really cool was going to happen. Well, until she felt the golden bubble surround her. She didn't like it. Not one bit. The black angel screamed, trying to struggle out of it. Eventually it won out and she had worn herself ragged trying to escape. Since it appeared that there was no way out of it, she eventually gave in.

Finally, after looking around for something, anything, she realized that she was plummeting hard and fast towards the forest they had previously been exploring. It had seemed so friendly just a few minutes ago. What happened?

Etana opened her mouth to scream once more, hoping that someone would come to her rescue. Nothing came out. Not even a peep. She scrunched up her face, trying to prepare for impact. Within seconds, she'd gotten snagged on a tree. Oh guardians what luc- the force of her fall was too great for her pack to sustain her catch. Snap! Both Etana and her pack had been sent in different directions. She'd continued tumbling down the trees while her pack got launched into space somewhere. She groaned, that was supposed to have been important stuff in there!

The angel eventually passed out, having sustained that fall as best she could. Thank the guardians she hadn't tried to spread her wings out. A broken wing was not something she needed right now...

Tartara Seabreeze

Tristen + Etana
They will wake up draped two different large tree roots, approximately 10 yards apart. Below them will be a muddy marsh. The air is very muggy and full of mosquitoes. Etana's backpack has ended up snagged on one of the twisted, dead trees in the middle of the murky marsh, ripped open with several items that have fallen into the water below.
•Tristen has kept any item collected so far. Etana has lost everything she's collected unless she can somehow get her pack. Any item that fell into the water might be ruined.

•There are many sturdy vines within arms reach. A wood plank is floating just out of reach between them.

User Image Surprisingly outdoorsy, the fae was highly enjoying the trek through the wilderness with the pack of pae around him. He didn't gather and he didn't stray as he was more than content with simply moving with the group. Sadly in hindsight that had been a very foolish mistake indeed. However at the time that had not yet been seen and he was more than happy to watch the sun sink lower in the sky. 'Help me' Help me? Instantly Tristen was all seriousness as he gripped his fae staff. Soon enough the owner of the voice made herself known. "Hey! We'll help you-" Pop. White light drowned everything in sight and suddenly he got a very...weightless feeling. As he rapidly blinked to clear his vision, he saw why. "Wait! Fairy lady! I'll save you!" He quickly realized he was not alone in being lifted into the air in a bubble. "I'll save...Everyone!" He hit his bubble entrapment, but that only seemed to anger it as it started to spin wildly out of control. The poor male was quickly becoming nauseous, and felt his stomach threaten to gag. "I'll save...I'll-" Apparently he suffered from motion-sickness. Who knew? He leaned against his bubble to try and keep his lunch down as the bubble began to plummet.

~~~~~~~
By the time he awoke, morning had broken. No birds chirped however and there was no sweet dew. Just a dank smell and a sticky humidity. Tristens nose wrinkled before he opened his amber eyes. What he saw though would change his life. Dark, murky water. When he looked up he saw the flatland of the marsh, with the occasional tree sticking up as if to mock the harsh environment. He flicked a mosquito from his arm rather than kill it before sitting up. "Jeeze. What a wind." Must've blown him completely off course. He rolled his stiff shoulders, feeling his still on it. Thank the Goddess. He reached out to use a vine to help him onto his feet. As scenic as this is, I should see about leaving. With that he started to flutter his wings. His feet started to lift off the root and went no further, his toes still touching. He tried to flutter harder, but no better results were yielded. What kind of magic... The male stopped trying. Alright. Stranded on a tree. Could be worse...could be...Oh no. A female laid out on a root out of reach, unmoving from what he could tell. But how to get there? "HEYYYY! HEY! Are you okay?" The fae yelled out, a hand cupped to his mouth.
Etana groaned, letting forth the moan of pain that had been held back through the night. Something was calling her. Etana could barely turn her head to see who it was. Maybe it was that stupid fairy that caused all this. Maybe it was someone from the hike. She didn't really know.
"Ugnnnh" She moaned, raising her uninjured arm to let the other know she was alive. He sounded a decent distance away. With a bit of a grumble, her arm plopped back down onto her tangle of roots. She knew something was wrong, still horribly wrong. Why couldn't she figure it out?
The angel was trying to get her brain to work, however futile that effort wound up to be. Too many slight injuries for her to remember how to function. Maybe this other pae would see that... She had to be swollen oddly around her shoulders and wing. That was much was certain when she couldn't move her neck.
Thank the Goddess, she moved! But something was wrong with her. She wasn't getting up. His initial thought was to jump straight into the water to swim to her. Wait. This is the marsh. He was far from his 'young adult' stage, living in the forest for many, many seasons. As such, he knew what could lurk in those dank waters. Raken described them as 'alligators'. Or were they crocodiles? Tristen wasn't the 'smart' one, he couldn't remember the distinction. Point was, if he went in...he might not come out. "HOLD ON! I'm coming for you!" Saving the fairy female from before still lingered in his mind, but he could do nothing for her at the moment. This angel obviously needed help, and was only a few yards from him. He looked around for something that may help him. Vines? Frowning, the fae swung his pack around and rummaged through it to pull out his knife before swinging it back. He reached up and started cutting a vine down. And another. And another. She was only...what, 30 feet away? He sat to start tying his vines together, occasionally flicking a mosquito away. It was an uphill battle with it until he gave up and sprayed himself with the repellent. He gave a sturdy yank on his knots to make sure they held before standing. Okay. Now what...He had to use the vines to get across, which meant getting the other end to her. They were too light though to make the distance. The floating piece of wood perhaps? He started throwing the vine over it. With it floating on water, any thing, even a ripple would move it. Painstakingly slowly, with more than two dozen throws, he guided the plank towards him. The knots were the best, as it caught the edge briefly and gave a good grip for a quick yank towards him. When in reach, he fished it out and tied it to one of the ends of his vine. Phase one, completed. "Not too much longer miss!" Now, he had to make it so his travel over wouldn't touch the water. That meant hoisting the vine up. He looked at the plank and at her tree, then back at his plank. If he could get it to tangle in its branches...Maybe. He'd be placing his faith in dead branches, wrist thick vines and a water-soaked piece of wood to hold the entirety of his weight. Another pae might just leave the female, and have her fend for herself.
But he couldn't even kill the mosquito's flying around. Slowly, the male started to swing the plank overhead, gathering momentum for his first throw.
Tartara Seabreeze
Etana had no idea what he was doing other than making a rather large amount of noise. She had a general idea of where they were. It was some kind of humid area. The angel didn't care for it all that much, it was hot and sticky, but she wasn't in a place to complain. But if they were in the wild, did that mean that there were things out there that would eat them. If she was in any condition to tell him to stop, she would have. This wasn't going to end well for anyone if something got all in a fit because it smelled food.
And then he managed to hook something. Etana had seen it getting dragged from wherever he'd snagged it from over towards the edge of her sight, finally slipping out of her vision. Her backside was a mosquito feast right now. She would be grumbling about it if she wasn't so curious as to what he was doing.
Slowly, Etana looked over to Tristen. What on the isle was he doing? She winced a bit as the movement caused a couple of muscles to twitch painfully. Yeah, this was going to be fun to get back to wherever the group was supposed to be. Vaguely, the angel wondered if they would even find the group again... But her mind needed to get back on track, how to get out of this position?
Whoosh...whoosh...whoosh...The wood cut through the air overhead, building up until he at last let it fly. The wood soared over the marsh, going, going. THUNK! It hit the tree! Then immediately clattered to the ground. Sighing, he slowly pulled it back to himself. Whoosh...whoosh...whoosh. Let it fly. THUNK! Clash to the ground. Again. He thought to himself, pulling it back. Whoosh, fly, thunk, clash. Whoosh, fly, thunk, clash. Whoosh, fly, thunk, clash. After the fifth time, he was starting to get a little annoyed. It made its intended target, but it didn't fall in the way he wanted. If only he could control the piece of wood after it landed. He pulled the wood back. Whoosh...whoosh...whoosh. He let go to let it sail to the tree. THUNK! He instantly tugged on the vine to the right before it could fall all the way. Click. It snagged in the elbow of branch and trunk. Yes! Yes, yes! Now that he was hooked, he took the other end and looked around for securing. What better than the root he stood upon? He eyed the water below before laying on the root to get his entire arms length around the large thing. Quickly he looped it around and tied it. There. A perfect diagonal rope where he could climb safely above the water. Assuming everything went as planned. He turned his pack around and made sure it was tightly closed before testing the vine. He had tied the end further towards his tree so there was lift off by the end of his ledge. He grabbed hold of it and gently pulled. Nothing. He pulled a little harder. It remained steady. He reached out to where the vine completely hung over water and nothing else, his toes still on the root. Here goes nothing. Using his upper body strength, he pulled his bottom half up to wrap around the vine. Amazingly, it held! He began his slow pull up, hand over hand. Ignorant of the dangers which lurked below.
Etana winced, a couple of the tries to get the chunk of wood coming pretty close to her when they came back down. Finally, he did manage to get it snagged up there the way he wanted. She heard a bit of rustling and then saw the vine change positions a bit with applied pressure and weight. So he was coming over to rescue her then? That was nice of him.
The angel was having a hard time keeping herself conscious after that. She'd hit her head once or twice on the way into this boggy place, and it was taking its toll on her now. Etana could only imagine what she looked like to the other pae. Laying there, helpless, bottom up, not really even making an effort to help him help her. Oh guardians, she felt as pathetic as pae'ly possible.
Fighting the blackness that wanted to take over her mind, Etana shifted. It was better than nothing, and it got a couple of mosquitos off her. They didn't want the food that was going to fight them. "Hnnngh..." She groaned, pins and needles starting in a limb that had been denied proper blood flow for too long. If he was going to recue her, she wasn't going to make it hard on him.
Think happy thoughts...Apple pie...peanut butter sandwiches...hugs and baby smiles. The male internally comforted, trying not to think about the horrible carnivores that lived below. With his backpack on, it kept his hair out of the gunk - one less thing to worry about. But he was still a dangling piece of meat. A Tris-kabob. It made him quicken his pace a little more. He still had so much to live for. Like seeing if Dyas' babies or attending Adora's wedding. Then again, croc chow might be better than Rakens wrath at Dyas getting preg- His thoughts were abruptly cut short as he heart a terrifying creak. Tristen froze as his amber eyes began to widen. "...Uh oh." SNAP! Tristen felt the sensation of falling right before his back hit below. "OOF!" The air burst from his lungs on impact, stars bursting into vision. But he was on a root! The fae would have been ecstatic if not for the fact he had something sharp prodding him in the spine. The girl. Despite his throbbing back, he flipped himself over. "D-Don't...don't worry. I'm here...Etana?" It was none other than the girl from the gathering point. He took a painful breath in and forced himself to stand. She had rolled over but not much else. This close, he could see how swollen her shoulder was. Cuts dappled here and there, a multitude of bruises...Obviously his arrival had been a much smoother one than hers. Again he enlisted the aid of a vine, one of the ones hanging about on the tree. He yanked it to test, then swung over to the next root where she laid.
Etana was almost shocked to see who it was rescuing her. Almost. Something told her that there wasn't another pae on the hike with them that would have risked so much to make sure she was safe. Etana had been quiet most of the entire trip and it had also meant not making friends. But it was almost a good trade off for not making any enemies either. Except maybe those fairies. She didn't like those fairies anymore.
"Tristan?" She looked up at him, trying her best not to groan and complain about her injuries. The way he was looking at her, it must have been worse than she thought. "Was 'rong?" She slurred a bit, internally cursing whatever it was that had beaten her up so greatly.
His heart broke a little at her attempt at speech. "It's alright beautiful. You're just a bit banged up." He turned around his pack to start digging through it. Immediately he saw what had poked him in the back - it wasn't good news. His lantern had shattered on impact. He carefully picked around the pieces of glass to pull out his medical kit. Now, he was no healing fae. But that wouldn't stop him from trying. "I'm going to patch you up as best as I can." Then he was determined to get her into the tree, away from the marsh crocs. Or gators. How was he going to accomplish that? Not sure. But he was a one-problem-at-a-time kind of pae. Slowly he began to apply the poultice to her swollen shoulder. The herbs he knew next to nothing how to use, but this and the bandages were fairly idiot-proof. Or Tristen proof.
He was trying to patch her up? He'd risked his bum to get over to her, and now he was trying to make sure she wasn't going to get worse in the long run. Etana grunted very quietly when he hit a rather sore spot on her shoulder with the poultice. It was quite possibly, worse than the pain that it was inflicting without treatment.
"Thank you" She managed to whimper, not even slurring her words. This was getting better, even if she was still one big ball of ouch. Maybe there was hope for her yet, recovering enough to help the two of them get back to the group or to maybe figure out how to survive out here until they were rescued. Hopefully, a bit of both. It wouldn't do for them to sit in one place and get eaten by bugs and whatever was down there in that marsh.
His touch was very gentle as he worked, mindful of all her injuries with compassion. The male smiled reassuringly at the female and switched from the paste to the bandages to wrap the worst of her cuts. "Oh, this is nothing. Thank me when I actually do something special." He spoke humbly, trying to make light of the situation. She was no doubt fretting enough about things as it was. "Can you move everything?" If she broke anything, they needed to assess that now and deal with it accordingly. He wasn't going to start moving her around without a care in the world with broken bones.
As he finished tending to her wounds, he packed up the herbs and the remainder of the herbs and poultice. Back into the pack, he pulled out the bug spray to give her a quick spritz. The mosquitos out and about were blood-thirsty to say in the least. Unrelenting if not for the spray.
She shook her head as he asked if there was a break. Her wings felt fine, when she ignored the pain of moving the one. Her shoulder had been fairly well damaged, making flight or use of her wings nearly impossible. But all in all, she'd made it out pretty well. Especially with Tris' help on getting her started on the healing process.
"Its still nice of you to help me out. It's not like I have a way of repaying the favor right now. Or of helping re-supply what you used on me..." She frowned, wondering just where her pack had run off to. A small gasp escaped her when the spray hit an open bite. It wasn't enough to hurt, just a small twinge that was more of a shock than anything.
"You're a sweetheart Tristan." She smiled, covering the grimace at the slowly fading pain.
He sighed in relief when she shook her head. If she had broken anything, he wouldn't know a thing what to do. Would he try to set it, sling it, or just leave it alone? Thank the Guardians that wasn't something he had to figure out.
No, but he had quite the mountain of problems waiting for him still. "Think of it as a gift between friends. Besides, the med kit wouldn't do me any good at the moment." He winced sympathetically at her gasp. "Sorry about that. But we can't have bugs infecting your wounds." The male slipped the spray back into his pack, all but beaming at her compliment. He loved receiving them just as much as he did giving them. "And you're resilient. A very good trait at the moment...We need to get on higher ground as soon as possible." He reached out to gently touch her arm, looking at her to see if she'd be okay with putting it around his shoulders to help her stand. "Can you get up?"
