The content may be boring but watching their little eyes light up because you are suddenly the coolest teacher in the world, is priceless.
I know it's not kindy but close enough... I remember first grade and our teacher showing us how to make butter. We all had a chance to shake the jar and when finished, we were each given a roll and were allowed to butter our bread with it. It was fabulous.
Do something with those pumpkin seeds. Maybe take another one the night before and roast/salt the seeds, and share them for eating. Take the opportunity to plant something easy so they understand what seeds do. And explain the multiple uses for seeds.
Then get to making jack o lanterns or something!
We'll be doing other things with seeds! I think we're going to try and sprout some, and maybe plant them to see them grow. I don't know if we'll be doing anything else with the pumpkin, though before we cut it open I think we might try and guess whether it would sink or float in water.
But yeah some of the stuff we learn at this age is like magic, lol. I remember making ice cream, and I'm pretty sure we did experiments with seeds too.
