Oh yeah, I think I would've done the same.
I found the 2nd Shantae in the eShop and it looked neat so I d/led it and it's ********' awesome!
But I knew it was a sequel so I was curious about the first, so when it came to the eShop, I got it too.
Grossly disappointed doesn't even begin to describe omg
This game (at the time) was herald as such an amazing game because it did so many new things that were innovative for the gameboy color.
This I will not deny. I can see that they put a LOT of genuine effort to make the game interesting and new.
But the trouble is that, yeah... the controls are s**t and it's also hard as ******** for anyone who isn't an advanced gamer.
I still don't get why they ******** up what A and B do...
In my brain, A is the action button: Attack, interact with things, select an item, confirm.
B is the secondary button: Jump, magic, cancel.
For some stupid a** backwards reason, they switched them around and it... just... made my brain implode, like... wtf were you thinking!?
Also, I discovered that they screwed the pooch with the virtual console version:
The original version had this easter egg where if you play the game on a GBA, you get an extra dance (i.e. ability) and other little asthetic stuff.
For this one, since it's the virtual console, you don't get the GBA enhanced option, which really sucks...
There is this other interesting easter egg that I found watching
this video, so I guess there's that.
(also how hot is his accent? omg)
